  • Andrew bought a 1979 C10 Square Body as his new shop truck. This is part 2 of the Ekstensive Metal Works 2 link air ride kit with their C notch and pan hard bar installation on the rear suspension. Air suspension is a staple in our shop trucks and we will be using Slam Specialities bags, Viair 444 compressor, manual paddle valves, along with half inch air lines to round out a basic setup. On this truck we will be using US Wheels Hot Rod Series 20" steelies with square body S10 dog dish hud caps.

    I hear ya on that 60 hour work week. After awhile it wears on you... I love how this turned out but those sheets of plywood you talked about hauling in this shop truck wont fit quite so well with that big hump in the middle of the bed! Lol! Keep it up!

    how did you decide on where to mount the upper bag mounts on the frame rail?

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před 15 dny +1

      After we installed the link bars to the rear end we raise it up to ride height. Then we installed the bag in a neutral position as far as inflated height versus aired out versus aired up, the upper plates are also contoured to where they're supposed to sit on the frame.

    Kick azzzzz guys. What technique were you using when welding in the c notch and wire diameter? Thanks

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před 10 měsíci

      It's. 030 er70 wire. I use the circle technique focusing the heat on either the thicker material or the pre existing structure.

    A metal hot glue gun? Never heard that before but I told my wife the Langmuir Plasma Table was a Cricut for grown men. I guess our logic is the same.
    She let me buy one

    hey whats up guys, so i bought the same set up and im installing it on a 1982 c10, my question is how did you get your rear end differential angle/degree? we dont have a motor or transmission installed, so how what do you suggest we can do to get the our differential angle/degree?

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před 8 měsíci

      It's hard to make it exact without the motor and trans installed. But you can go off the flange of the rear end and shoot for 4°, that's usually a safe bet

      4.75" backspace. Check out part one for all the specs and even the part number!

    as the trailing arms pivot point is further forward then the driveshaft pivot point , wont it pull or push the drive shaft in or out ?

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před rokem

      It does but maybe an eighth inch or so. We just watched it to be sure it wasn't crashing into the transmission or pulling out too far and it wasn't!

    Great video you guys, thanks for doing them.
    I have a few questions if you could spare a few.
    I'm slowly accumulating all the parts and things I need to bag my 82 long bed.
    One of my hangups is the rear kit.
    I'm sold on the Ekstensive Bride notch ya'll used, but torn between the Ekstensive 2 link kit you all used or the KP Customs 4 link Cantilever set up.
    I dont plan on a body drop, but ild like 20-22" rims...
    Can you speak to the pros and cons of the two rear bar/link systems?
    I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out...
    Thanks again. Looking fwd to your response and more great videos!!!

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! As far as the two link kit we installed it is great but it will not lay frame on a 20-in wheel with a tire that's any bigger than a rubber band. We're actually planning on putting a small notch inside of the notch (as crazy as that sounds) just to lay on these 20s, a 22 I don't believe whould ever lay frame with this particular kit.

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před rokem +1

      Another thing is to consider a two-link doesn't have the horsepower holding capacity that are four link would. Also ideally with air ride you would want a wats link and not a panhard bar.
