I spent many years underrating Nightwish because (and oldschool fans will hate me for this) Tarja's style has a steep barrier of entry. If you're not used to opera style vocals, Tarja can be a challenge to listen to. Now, years later, I'm being dragged kicking-and-screaming into the bands fandom by Floor's undeniable vocal prowess. Now that I have a singer I can enjoy, I'm finally finding the room to appreciate Tuomas' considerable melodic songwriting sensibilities. I am now obsessed and driving all of my friends crazy with 20-year-old music.
Same here. Floor got me into Nightwish. But because of that I have also come to appreciate Tarja more than before. And at the moment my favourite song is "Ghost Love Score" performed live by Floor, which was originally written for Tarjas operatic voice. A bit confusing. :)

I have to say when it comes to operatic singing that I think Tarja is even a bit better than Floor. But Floor can sing everything, she can even growl (mostly in her former bands). :D And you just can't help but get a good mood when you see her performing on stage. Yeah and most bands could only dream of having a singer like Anette. Also the studio albums with Anette are very good. It's just a bit unlucky for her that in Nightwish she gets compared to Tarja and Floor.

I remember people upset after releas of Human:Nature that the songs are complicated for sake of sake of being complicated with no real listening value. To those people I can only say - you ain't heard a shit at this point ant this lady is just starting to show how hard she can bite. I will also call it blasphemy.

Not till 2006 for me when Tarja was let go(I watched 'End Of An Era' and her presser the next day) but I still like her. I have no hard feelings toward Tuomas for firing her though. He did what he had to do to bring peace to his band.

I was at this show in Tampa. They were great but the crowd was almost dead as shit unless Floor asked us to clap and shit. There was more crowd movement during Sonata Ártica than NW set.
For some reason Toumas wrote a load of great songs during the time with Anette. They worked really well with her voice. Unfortunately Anette was nowhere near as skilled when it came to live performances. With Floor it's the opposite. You get the feeling Toumas doesn't really know what to do with her huge vocal range on the albums. On the other hand, she is an absolute powerhouse onstage and there seems to be nothing she can't sing and turn into a vocal experience second to none.
@@MiladMashayekhi yep I think this song definitely suits Annette's vocal more. I think in on CZcams in an Australian concert and it's extraordinary. Floors is great on the dramatic end but Anettes version though lighter is just fooking brilliant she puts so much of herself into it

Anette’s vocals were way too light and high-pitched to give this song the optimum amount of power it deserves. If there was a studio version of Floor’s rendition of this, I bet it’d be way better than Anette’s studio version.

People are entitled to their opinions and people like different things. Regardless of how great Floor is, Nightwish peaked with Annette/Imaginaerum and has gone downhill ever since they kicked her out. Floor is a great asset but she basically is just there to sing karaoke to pre-Floor Nightwish songs, because frankly, I can’t think of a single song/album Floor has done that’s been more popular than Storytime.
I love Floor's version, but Anette's higher pitch just does it for me for this song.. it cannot be beat, it sounds fantasticly clear, mysterious, kinda eerie too.. Just this once i think the recoded version is just right.
