Leberecht Maass takes Ernst Gaede and dials it up to 11. A lot of similar problems with maneuverability and durability are offset with an additional gun, and an additional km of torpedo stealth fire range over Ernst Gaede. I personally think Leberecht Maass is a better ship not only because of that, but because it benefits heavily from the match making too. Overall, not a bad grind. The guns hit hard, the torpedoes are useful, the hydro is kek/10! What's not to like!? :) - Hry
The boiler pressure on their engines was 1,025lb/psi. Other countries used 235lb/psi for comparison.
Great video as always .Keep up the streams as well they are always enjoyable
Thanks and Wilco! :)
These are the most helpful videos I have found
Hi everyone!
The concealment disadvantage is just not not worth the hydro and "strong" guns. These guns DO NOT punish enemy DDs at all, they're slightly stronger than a normal DD gun, but it's better not to fire them. Even with conc. expert, enemy DDs spot you first, and ALL the enemy team will engage YOU. Smoke is hopelessly short, and out of smoke, 1x you fire your guns, you are a little, sluggish, vulnerable cruiser with shit gun traverse. Torp range is not so good, but even if you manage to get torp hits, they ain't deadly for low torp DMG. It was not worth developing this DD line for me. Gaede was a pain to play, this is even worse, because you have to face better DDs, higher tier cruisers with radar and hydro and what not. Obviously I had good moments with it, like in this PROMO video, but usually and practically this ship is a disadvantage for the team it plays in. I try to get over it and hope, the Zs will be somewhat better...
I enjoy the Maass. The only thing that’s really tough is that 6.8km detect. Looking forward to the Z-23.
Yeah, German detection ranges are all over the board and Maass fits into that awkward T7 trend of having worse concealment than either ship above and below it in the tech tree! :(
This and the Ernst Gaede are my destroyers. Good designs with different playstyles.
At 3200 tons these ships had some serious Maass for a destroyer... pun definitely intended!
Why were they so heavy compared to their US equivalents (Farragut-Fletcher)?
#BecauseMadeInGerman Technically speaking these destroyers were ~2500 long tons per naval treaty requirements but like most ships, the naval treaty displacement requirements do not equal combat loads. At 3200 tons for a full combat load, that's heavy for even treaty destroyers... the US stuck to ~2500 long tons at full combat load for treaty designs, but even then, the Fletchers all rolled out at 2500 at full load... it isn't until the Allen M. Sumners and Gearings that we start breaching the 3000 long ton mark!
usually i get opponent Gadjah Mada when i play this t7 german dd..!! any suggestions against such high concealment ships sir ?
Anyone know the coordinates or roundabout area where Z1 and Z3 went down? I’d like to go to Norway to see Z2 someday. Interesting ships.
I just moved up from the Gaede and all five of my Maas battles so far have followed the same exact template. Go to a cap with other DDs, barely enter it, detected, focused, lose engine, fire, half health gone before I can even smoke and turn around. Then I proceed to get detected by some invisible enemy and focused to death again. I've had under 5k damage every game.
It wasn't like this in the Gaede. I don't understand this ship.
Luke Ramsey dude the biggest key for me in this ship is the detectability of this ship. It’s massive and therefore your biggest problem is the fact you went into a cap at the beginning of a game. Use the islands park beside one wait for someone else to go in, learn where the enemies are positioned. Where’s the radar? Is the CV on this side of the map? Is there a light cruiser near the cap? Is there anything that can possibly spot me? If the answer to any of these questions are yes then go find somewhere else and cap, spam BB, CA, CL and DD’s with your AP. Understand this ship has the highest possible DPM out of every sing T7 in the game. Hydro is a gimmick, your smoke firing is 3km and the hydro range is 4km it’s better used for spotting torpedoes. Never get in close range with this ship you should always be 3km apart from your enemy at all times.
All of these games have been going like this for me as well
Nice bombing run by that HE111
I'd say! Probably flying in low to achieve those hits though!
Whiskey's Gaming Lounge Appsolutly it was basicly a one way trip
The HE111 survived though and landed back at base... unfortunately the ships didn't fare so well.
Whiskey's Gaming Lounge luckiest and unluckiest shot by a plane in the war.
How many b-17 does it take to hit a ship. All of them and you never get a bomb within a mile. How many bombs did they drop on the ijn fleet at Midway?
The crew of the HE111 must have been devastated. Its one thing to hit your own guys by accident in a dog fight but you can say "well maybe I did not hit them". This case they know.
Did you say you live in the UK?
Like a Fletcher in Tier VII just grinded the Jerry DD line
Leberecht Maass lost about 280 of her crew, Max Schultz went down with all hands... The More You Know
Probably the biggest scandal in Germany during the war as far as the navy is concerned outside of losing the Bismarck...
T 61 if only ...
Maybe some day! :)
Germans really likes team killing
You don't play it! it is so bad it is adviced to skip it with free xp. :(
this ship is still trash
