At least when people know it's a sponsor that paid for the video it means that they can enjoy the content thanks to the sponsor and not have to worry that Phil is going to lose his house for the 10th time

The thing that pisses me off so much is there is nothinh inherently immoral in my eyes for a creator making a sponsered video. Its not this big moral quandry like he wants to make his dents believe.
Hell, a lot of creators use sponsers to try to make the world a better place, by only accepting sponsers from companies that they vet are ethical and fit their own personal ethos.

There's a few types, if Ready Fresh and Nord VPN approached him he's already said he would turn them down for "selling" out and I can imagine they have mandatory sales converts as part of the deal so that's smart on his half anyway. For things like games I'm sure Lilith Games and whoever develops Raid Shadow Legends atm has reached out to him but all game sponsorships (even the AAA ones) require you to have x many hours of you promoting and playing the game and seeing how he reacts to fans even giving him suggestions he asked for in terms of what to play that's always going to be a dealbreaker for him.
funny thing is, AVGN's VPN ad's are actually more entertaining than any begment DSP spews out every 20 minutes.

What makes his ”business” even worse, which is already unethical as it is with his e-begging, is how he tries to justify it.
Also, when I watch or listen to videos with sponsorships, I don’t care whether the content creator uses the product or not. If it’s a goid product that may br useful to someone, that is more than enough for me. VPN ones are very good for instance.
I'm a firm believer that nobody can sell you something that you haven't already decided to buy anyway. If you're not someone who uses VPNs then you aren't interested in buying a VPN service. If you don't play mobile games then you won't play Raid Shadow Legends. I don't see a problem with sponsors

True. Phil has said in the past the he doesn't want to sponsor products on his videos because he wants to stay true to himself. It pisses me off that he seems unaware that Begging is worse than sponsoring a product. The way Phil makes his money is a bad way of doing business.

The thing about continuously begging people for something is that the more that you beg, the less likely that people are going to give you what you want. It just makes you look pitiable and pathetic.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if DSP had a likable personality and was consistently entertaining to his audience, he wouldn't even have to beg. It wouldn't matter how popular or unpopular the games he plays are, either.
However, DSP is awful at playing games, and it's _always, somehow,_ the game's fault that he's not good at them. It's also the game's fault if it doesn't bring in enough support for DSP.
He also gets salty when even the lightest jab about how boring his content is shows up in his chat. Heck, he's even started passively insulting people for actually being willing enough to support him, calling them "entitled."
The sheer arrogance and stubborness of this guy is the main reason why people haven't liked him for years. It's not just mindless thrashing, and these examples aren't from 10 years ago. They are as recent as this past week, and I have no reason to believe that DSP is going to really improve. Because he just point-blank doesn't care.
@jkdman2007 It's taken me a bit to fully realize it. It's just irritating to see people claiming that they're improving, while in reality, they're just as bad as before, if not worse. DSP is never going to realize that he's the reason why his content is so poor. Instead, he's just going to pin the blame on literally anything else. It's a shame.
Most people timestamp their sponsorship or a special title card to be seen on the timeline when scrolling so it can be skipped easy but DSP begs at random with no indication when it starts and ends so you’re either forced to sit through it or risk skipping content that you might want to see

The reason why he justifies begging as opposed to sponsorships is two-fold out of laziness (abstains accountability for results) and appeals to sycophants for enabling his pathetic existence of remaining on the bare minimum without advancement.
If he took sponsorship money, he'd have to show results or send his viewers to other vendors despite how he expects every dent to possess an unlimited amount of time/money to never help him improve the quality of his inane streams.
As someone who has a scam stream and makes a measly income from Chinese game devs ad revenue - you do not even need fans or real people to run the ad campaign for you. You can have a Windows 10 restore USB and a laptop and run your own 10 accounts to level 5 or whatever. It's less intrusive than begging and you can do it all yourself if you're that desperate for $$$

The AVGN video in question had like a 60-second, easily avoidable advertisement for Nord VPN and has over 1 million views. It's not adverts he hates. It's other creators' success.

He's done this. He guilted his audience to give him money to go visit his parents because he was heavily implying they were dying. When they were perfectly fine and he used the money on a secret wedding for him and Kat, of which he likely barely spent anything on the wedding since the ceremony was in his parent's living room.

I went to check that AVGN video Phil has referenced - there was only one, 1 Minute long Ad for Nord VPN. Which is not only something James would use to watch his movies, but also, is acceptable according to Phil in the interview.

Just because you have a sponsor doesn't mean the video can't be good. Granted some content creator handle it better then others but a lot of people completely clown on the sponsored segment these days.

The difference between ads and what Phil does is adverts promote a product that you might want. Food for example or VPN as he has mentioned. Those are goods. you are not just handing money over to someone because they need to pay bills. When internet companies advertise, do you ever hear them say "If you like the internet we provide please consider joining because we have staff to pay and they need grocieries". That would sound ridiculous.

Even without sponsor blockers, the ad-reads are incredibly easy to skip (even if they're not time stamped, which they often are, making it even easier), since they're just a single segment of the video, unlike Phil's begments, lol.
