If Callum can build this race car in under 24 hours, he get's to race it for an entire season at some of the best tracks in the UK. The Caterham Academy series is the best way to get into racing, with 50 drivers on the grid that are all complete novices. They all learn together, how to build speed, overtake and ultimately race together.
This is Callum, heâs a massive racing fan. Heâs such a racing nerd heâs spent HUNDREDS of hours in his simulator - but this year he gets to live the dream and go racing in the Caterham Academy. A super close race series for novice drivers, so Iâll be coaching Callum to be the fastest driver he can be!
So this Caterham needs to be built PERFECTLY as Iâm going to be racing it in the Caterham Academy Championship - which is meant to be the perfect way to get into motorsport. With two grids of 25 cars, the racing is incredibly close! But, one bolt not torqued, or one spacing washer wrong - and the crash could be enormous.

Whoever cut to the footage of Callum crashing is a bloody legend.
Building a race car in 24 hours? That's like trying to bake a wedding cake in a microwave
If I can do it they can (baking a cake that is)
i built a race car one time from the ground up in 4 days i finished building it in the Tech check line passed went on to race, i even worked on it in the trailer on the way to the track, i didn't get instruction's though this wasn't a kit car build i had to weld this car together i was welding at the track off my generator people thought i was crazy
@@shorty808100 that's awesome, wish I could do something like in 4 days
Not really, if itâs a basic car like the 7 itâs totally doable
did they forget what happened to Hammond, and he was driving in a really top notch piece of kit.
The amount of content is insane (and the quality too!) Something tells me Scott has a bunch of money to burn and plenty of contacts ;)
I mean, being a pro racing driver can't pay too badly
@@BroKEnCaPSLoCk1 17 quid
â@@BroKEnCaPSLoCk1 most of the time you have to pay to be a pro racing driver, fact.
@@obeseperson i was thinking 17.5
@@piuthemagicman you canât call yourself a professional at anything you have to pay to do, to be a professional you get paid to be one of whatever.
Congratulations to Callum and to all of the Overdrive crew for becoming a real racing team! I cant wait to see more racing videos from this channel.
callum to F3000 soon? :D
@@alveolate The day Callum and scott race side by side is the day ill finally know true inner peace.
@@Duckshoe398 yeah I bet thats the climax
We've seen how this went on Top Gear, this looks like it'll be fun!
"How hard could it be?"
@@Hybris51129 "Dont say that!"
@@shr2000 "JAMES, stop filing!"
I was watching both side-by-side (pausing sections and restarting) and the tone of each video is so dang different. lol
both are great, it's just really interesting to see two very different approaches to the same task.
Season and episode number??
This Top Gear re run looks different đ
First thought of mineđ only the OG'S will remember the original đ
top gear reboot looking way different
Scott = Jeremy, Will = Hammond, Callum = James? I feel like Callum wants to name and file his spanners
@@crazycjk Callum! What? Stop filing!
Thought that before I even opened the video, 99% of what they do is just some reheated top gear idea
This is the content we want! Driving tips from a pro to an amature and some close racing and car building to boot !
This channel is the greatest thing to happen in the world of cars since the peak of Top Gear! Keep up the fine work gentlemen! Itâs second to none!
i absolutely love that this video is longer than the others! i believe your content really suits long form (20ish min) videos rather than the shorter 10 min ones! thanks for the great video!
I was like "man, this is such a daunting task" but then I saw it all laid out at 1:27 and got that "Oooh, Lego!" feeling that Callum talks about immediately after. lol
What a fantastic investment for the channel and future content can't wait to follow along the race journey
Would love to see a bunch of automotive CZcams channels entering this championship.
That would be way better than watching CZcamsrs boxing each other đ
This would have been amazing content for a livestream. You bet people will watch you for 16 hours straight.
They went from 24h to wrap a car to 24h building a whole car. They're fast learners đ
I've built two Caterham in the US, this video makes it look much easier than it really is. The manual appears to have improved significantly and the parts kits look more complete and organized.
So incredible!! Job well done guys. Great video, I canât wait to watch you race.
I also thought that European cars used the metric system instead of a mix between the two. I imagine the steps going "take a three sixteenth nut and tighten in to twenty-five pounds per square inch". I'd just toss the manual in the bin at that point.
The excitement I too feel with Will and Callum when you start the car is amazing! Very infectious. I'd want a Caterham myself!!
This is so cool!
Great job on building this car Callum and Will! congrats đ
I look forward to the racing video's.
Super excited for Callum, gonna be a exciting racing season! đ Overdrive killing it with the content!
Racing in caterhams sounds so much fun! They are one of my favourite cars. Good luck for Callum in the races!
two men laughing at "do you remember those extra fat nuts" got me way more than it should.
Brillant car in 1957, and still relevant 65 years later
Which would you be more fearful of driving, the TopGear 24hour Caterham or the Callum+Will 24hr Caterham.. I genuinely don't know đ
Atleast this one did fell off the stands, so imo this is better XD

amazing work guts really enjoying this channel, look fwd to seeing how you get on
The relationship between them is very wholesome. Made my day âșïž
Very much looking forward to this series!
I'd love to see them doing a ÂŁ500 car challenge, where they pick their own and use ÂŁ500 for upgrades. Last one was hilarious. Great video btwđ
Brilliant! Canât wait to see how the season goes. Good luck! đ
I love this channel - excited for this series
Love it guys, great new series.
And that colour đ
I expect Callum to do quite good in the Academy. Broadbent already proved that i helps a lot with getting you accustomed to higher speeds. Knowing the tracks also helps A LOT. From my limited time in racing cars on fan day drives, i'd say something most people disagree with - in a certain aspect it's a bit easier than the sim, because you have all the additional information from the g-forces which are missing when you are just sitting still in your living room. So go ahead Callum, have fun and enjoy the experience to the fullest :)
so happy yall were able to finish it! can't wait for the next videos!
Yes lads well done, smashed it!! Looks amazing, can't wait for the racing content
YUP! That's exactly why my Audi has a mix of standard and metric fasteners, because racecar. Definitely not because I misplaced them and couldn't be bothered to grab the right one.
Hahaha
Well done lads, proud of you both!
Really cool, look forward to this series!
Beautiful content love energy and education of Motorsport u guys bring. Very fun as well as informative
Looking forward to this series. Interesting build.
Been looking forward to a kit car episode for a long time. Cheers, boys!
This was such a cool episode and can't wait to see it develop into a proper series! Is it just me, or is that front negative camber 20:56 extremely aggressive!?
I know people prefer understeer to oversteer, but it does seem a tad too much for an engine of this power.
Good luck in the coming season, jealous and excited for you!
Yes, how did these two manage to get soo much done so quickly?
With 8 Hours to spare??
And it starts right up!?!
Seems like the chassis has quite a bit of pre assembly.
Also nice that the Caterham chaps expertly dropped the engine tranny inâŠ
Would be cool to see an actual time lapse of the entire assembly :)
And would be fun to build this kit!!
Nice space to work in, with all the tools, parts handy, extra parts as needed, experts handy :)
Lots of fun, great video!
Great vid. Can't wait to see you race in this
5:25 warm red bull.... c'mon man. Definitely not prepared lol
This was a fun experiment, good job . Can't wait to see those races. đ
13:13 "Ho!" "owwwww" "Sorry Dave" is my favorite part
I'm very excited for this! Should be a great learning experience.
Having raced a Caterham Super 7 in the US for over a decade, I think my father and I could assemble one in 24 hours.
For someone who doesnât know the ins and outs of the car? Thatâs an entirely different endeavor. Hats off to the gents for giving their all⊠or thereabouts đ
This is something i would really like to do haha, just the building side of it. How Callum said "this is the biggest LEGO set ever" is exactly how I pictured this. I don't know why, (other then LEGO is one of my most favorite hobbies aside from customizing my little SCX24 rc crawler) but I really really want to try something like this, those instructions look so fun to try and follow.
The cars half built already!!! Dash in pedal box fitted windscreen and wipers already done, electrics in
Quality content lads - cheers
One of my favourite episodes yet! Excited for whatâs to come! Itâs looking pretty to!
5:17 "shall we speed things up?" Me: not beer, huh?
I was genuinely on the edge of my seat in the last few minutes. Great video, guys!
Awesome idea. Love it best of luck đ€

Congratulations! Great job guys
"This is Callum he's a massive tool" oh nvm I go the intro wrong
Absolutely well done lads.
This guy is living my dream. I'd love to do this. I've done a few engine swaps and built a car from a chassis before with a friend. Not in 24 hours but it looks like so much fun for a challenge.
Loving the channel đ cheap mid engine car challenge would be cool.
you guys keep getting better by each video. Kuddos to the team
Glorious!! đ Well done!!
From starting out off the bat 1.5 hours behind, then finishing with 8 hours remaining! That's a huge comeback... movie magic or are these two guys super heros? Was impressed that they knew the names of everything, good work.
Very looking forward to this series, also I would love to have one
This is so awesome! Good luck Callum and smash those checkered flags!
19:30 the amount of emotional feeling, look like they will cry but holding it like a real man wkwkwk
YES a new episode! Thank you!
Awesome work guys!
One of the best videos I've seen in a long time!
Yes yes yes your first race is gonna be remembered more than anything else even your wedding day đđđ
Congrats on the task boys! And congrats on getting to realize a dream!!
Very nice result, the car looks great! Congratulations and race it in good health đ
subscribed going to follow yu season. good show guys, only discovered the channel last week
I'm really impressed not only achieving the challenge, but doing It with so much time to go.

Great job guys! It looks awesome!
I love the Caterham, an absolute classic and the racing is so good.
Love this car, especially in that area color scheme! I'd love to try building one someday
Such a top video. Well done.

Good look for the season.

Having raced in the Caterham Academy last year I can confirm it is a LOT of fun!đ€
Love it, †hope everything goes well

Welcome to the Caterham race-driver's club! It's an absolute hoot.
