We want to find out who the fastest CZcamsr is. Weâve got a track, a car and a series of Gran Turismo style challenges.
Today weâve got Mat Armstrong and Super GT. We were meant to have Alex Kersten with us, but he bailed last minute. So we had to get a substitute.
Each driver will need to complete 3 challenges and then finally do a lap of the track. Weâre calling them the âDriven Media Licence Testsâ.
Our Pro Driver, Scott, has a set a benchmark on each of these. Heâll go out with each CZcamsr for 15 minutes beforehand for tuition and to learn the track.
This is the car. And itâs not reasonably priced - itâs a race car.
Itâs a Caterham 420R - so 210 horsepower and just over 600 kilos in weight. Itâs a proper race car for the road, no stability control, no traction control and semi slick tyres. Itâs a handful.
Thatâs why Scott is going to be in the car, just to make sure these CZcamsrs donât bin it.

The fact that Scott (a retired racing driver) can do one second faster on each challenge is phenomenal. Especially the corner. Imagine saving one second on each corner at a race track. Just proves how bad most people (including me) are at track driving when compared to proper racers.

Super GT has legit talent. People think oh yeah youtuber, but you can even see it in his GT racing. Consistent as hell and boss af race craft.
Pitty he didn't get a chance to try his chance through the junior formula ranks.

I like it how the pole is filtered out by the cam sitting high behind the Caterham âŠ. But it is visible on every other shot.

Aaand in the follow up to this episode. Make the cabin totally blacked out. Instead of windshield u put a monitor Infront of the driver. And on that monitor the driver get a new view on every lap. In 3 laps u got these views. Lap 1, above. Lap 2, third person view (as this episode). Lap 3, spectators view, cameras placed around the track.
That would he interesting đ

Yo, imagine if there were events made up of tests like this, where each driver gets to make a couple practice runs through each course and then set a final recorded time.
Sort of like auto-x, but made up of these sorts of fun quick tests instead of a whole circuit. Though maybe the final event could be a run through an auto-x circuit. đ
Seems like it would be great for exploring the limits of oneâs car, and I get it would be fun as hell.
