Borston eating huge quantities of humble pie. He’s now saying Chelsea have to make a profit on £100m of ASSETS whereas two months ago he categorically stated it was through the sales of players, and even started speculating about selling the likes of Reece James just to get clicks. What he has proved here is that far from being an expert, he is massively to blame’s for Man Cities 115 charges. As Simon Jordan says, maybe City should have looked at this instead of signing up sponsorships way above fair market value from UAE owned companies.
And why has no one mentioned the Lewis Hall sale for £30m pure profit which Newcastle are now legally obliged to complete in the summer following them finishing above 15th place in the league, which was a term of the loan. And Ian Maatsen will easily make another £30m pure profit after his hugely successful loan to Dortmund. Unfortunately, the business model for the vast majority of clubs is sh.. and, if run on a normal business model, most clubs would be bankrupt and have folded. Fans either don't care or are too ignorant to know, but feel aggrieved and get all 'testy' when the model goes wrong for their club.

Unfortunately that's so much of what we hear / talk about now, there is becoming less discussion about actual football and more about the business which is my point. It's guaranteed all manners of things went on in the past decades that no one really knows about but with the media being what it is and how it has grown we are stuck with it, which is not what we made us love the game.

By the way, the commercialisation can be traced back to the early 20th century, its nothing new. Plus the rules of the game have evolved to make it more 'entertaining' and therefore commercial [surprise, surprise]. And by the way, the very people who are looking at this through rose coloured spectacles are the same economically/financially illiterate tend to be the same fans who scream for rich businessmen and investors to take over their club so they can buy their way to success, then cry when it goes horribly wrong.
