    Those apple blossoms are absolutely beautiful 🌸🤗 You will have a big harvest of peas 👍 The potatoes are far ahead compared to ours 🥔🌱🥔 Have a great gardening season 🍅🍆🥔🌶🥒🍓🍏🍎🍐

      I put my potatoes is rather early and the frost did get them a bit , but they’ll be fine. Last year I didn’t plant enough peas and was disappointed with the harvest, so hopefully this year there’ll be plenty! I hope the sun is out and the seedlings are shooting up for you!🌱🪴🌞

    Hi Fiona. Your plot looks very lush already. Broad beans doing really well. I got some Marshmellow strawbs for the first time this year. I’ve heard good things about them so hope I get a few this year. I’m building my squash bed this weekend. It’s going to take some filling 🥴. Have a great weekend. Mags

      That’s always the issue, isn’t it, finding the material to fill new beds with. It’ll probably be an ongoing challenge for you for a while as you create your new garden. I’ve also heard good things about the marshmallow strawberries……we shall see. Happy gardening!

    😂😂 good old Bill and Val feeding the world peas and pongos 💕💕. Your weather looks like ours Fiona here in SW Canada 😢cold wet and miserable. But next week hopefully nicer and we can get our beans and tomatoes outside. Have a fantastic week, Ali ☔️🇨🇦

      Hi Ali, Bill and Val are so kind! I think we’re forecast rain again tomorrow 😩. I’ve just discovered a bunch of courgette in the greenhouse I didn’t know I’d sowed and they’re big and need to go out, so I need some decent weather!😂. Too soon for us to be putting the tomatoes and beans out ….the beans are sloooow to germinate this year. Thanks for watching 😊

      Thanks Bill, the broadbeans seem very healthy this year which is just as well because I’m beginning to wonder if anything else is ever going to be ready to plant out ! 😩Everything is so slow in the greenhouse with the cold weather. Maybe I’m just getting impatient in my old age.😂

      Hi Laura, it’s best to go with the flow! Sometimes the garden has different ideas from us as to where things should be. I’ve just sowed a second batch of parsnip seed today as the first lot failed. Thanks for watching 😊

    I've never tried growing Broadbeans, but yours look stunning! I'm tempted to try if I can find the space this fall. Your videos are a special favorite of mine. Best wishes from Louisville, Kentucky USA.

      Thanks so much Linda, that’s so encouraging to hear😊! I certainly find broad beans very easy to grow and resilient to pests. But that’s here in the north of England! I’m sure Kentucky has a very different climate. But the good thing with autumn sown broadbeans is that if your season is long enough (I’m guessing yours will be long?) you will be able to get a second crop of something in the space when the beans are finished. I struggle to do that here.

  • @greenfingers41
    @greenfingers41 Před rokem

    Hi Fiona, I'm envious of those broad beans. Our spring sown ones have only just been planted out. Hope your plum tree survives the pigeons and that you manage to get some pears this year. We've two pear trees one which crops nearly every year and one that virtually never produces any fruit. Are you going to cover the red currants as if we leave ours uncovered the blackbirds clear the lot. So far this year our potatoes have avoided any frost damage which is unusual. I think it only delays when they crop rather than how well they crop. I agree with you that you can never have too many strawberries.

    • @fionagrows1848
      @fionagrows1848  Před rokem

      We’re going to prune and mulch the plum this autumn to help it out , feed the pear too. I need productive trees as we have such a small space. The birds have never bothered with the currants up to now which is great for us, so I’ve never netted them. But I’ve just noticed that something has been eating the plum leaves again😩😡

    Those broad beans look amazing my over winters died in December in our horrible -7 week. I have new ones that are catching up now. Love the strawberry idea I might have a look see where I can put some up high. P.S just put my fermented Rhubarb in my porridge this morning and it was really nice the kids aren’t loving it though! 😆

      I’m just sipping my banana, strawberry and fermented rhubarb smoothie! I’m sure my kids wouldn’t even try it and they’re adults 🤣. (Another one of mam’s experiments 😉) . -7…..that’s cold. I’m quite anxious to grow more strawberries but I’ll just have to be patient if I’m to use the runners. Not expecting much fruit this year. Happy gardening 😊

    Hi Fiona, you took the words right out of my mouth regarding the troughs along the fence i was looking at that a few videos ago thinking you have a lot of space for strawberries carrots flowers ect ect along there.Your Plum tree looks like it could do with a trim i.e open the middle out and remove crossed branches. Thanks for the video , Happy Bank Holidays 👍

    • @fionagrows1848
      @fionagrows1848  Před rokem

      Thank you for that insight Drifter. I’ve just mentioned it to Kenny and he agrees . It’s definitely not looking it’s best and a prune might sort it. The leaves seem really small too. Any idea why that might be or is it just the breed? Maybe it need a good feed or something.

    Hi Fiona B-road beans look great! I’ve just topped my 3, we ate the tops too, can’t wait to try the beans for the first time. Maybe get deep gutters for your strawberries along the fence? Plot looks great!👍🏻🤠

    • @fionagrows1848

      I’m so pleased with how the B-road beans are doing. I bet those tops were tasty. I can’t bring myself to nip the tips out so we’ve never tried them. Yes I definitely want something deep for the strawberries…..everything dries out so quickly in shallow containers. I’ll be keeping my eyes open over the next year to find something suitable.

      My peas have done well this year . I wonder why yours aren’t germinating. I soaked mine for a day before sowing and that does speed things up. I hope yours start popping up soon. Us gardeners are proper worriers really😂. I’m worried that my runner beans haven’t germinated yet!
