Calm Teen Calls 911 After Train Severs Feet: 'I Think It Cut Them Off'

A disturbingly calm teen calls 911 after he's hit by a train. Jacob Ohl claims he was walking near train tracks when he was struck by a locomotive. The 17-year-old says he was wearing earbuds at the time and didn't hear the machine coming. As a result, Ohl has had his legs partially amputated and a GoFundMe account has been set up in his name to help pay for medical expenses. #InsideEdition

When you wrote "people", one start to think in the users commenting but actually it begins with Inside Edition because they titled the video like that.
Why does every 911 dispatcher sound the EXACT same?
Because they're all the same. Its an emotionless artificial intelligence made to answer 911 calls and dispatch officers.
I'm starting to realize that...
Must be the phones.
I'm guessing that they're trained to speak in that certain, clear "accent" and speed to make themselves professionally reassuring and very easy to understand. Makes sense because someone with an exaggerated southern drawl (just for example) could be difficult for a Bostonian to understand and that could cost human lives in an emergency.

@My Name google it. He wasn’t paying attention. Train safety wasn’t taught to me in school but thankfully I was adamant to get my Texas Driver License the day I turned 16 because I had to take a 6 week Driver Education Course to do so. One full day was dedicated purely to train safety. It was such an eye opening and shocking class that I went home and taught my whole family about train safety. Most people think trains can “just stop” because they have brakes. It can take some trains over a mile to come to a stop. To this day I am that Driver that everyone honks at because I come to a complete stop with my windows down and look both ways before crossing railroad tracks. I don’t rely on flashing lights or barricades. Train safety needs to be as important as any other subject in school and should be taught starting in kindergarten. Then in high school they should show the gruesome photos I was shown as a 15 year old in refresher courses every year. I’m grateful I was a mature teen and took my responsibilities seriously but unfortunately, most kids aren’t like that. You have to repeat things over and over to get it into their heads.

Lesson learned don’t walk on the train tracks with ear buds in wtf
True but the kid doesn’t deserve it. Don’t be an a-hole and lecture him after he experiences immense pain and loosing his legs. He has learnt his lesson already
While that is true apparently the train conductors saw him 1000 feet before he was hit and didn’t blow the train whistle or try to slow down. So he only knew the train was coming when he felt it, and apparently he wasn’t walking along the tracks for most of his walk and was just unlucky to be on the tracks when the train came. I can’t confirm or deny any of this but his family did file a lawsuit based on the train drivers making no attempt to stop or warn him of the danger from the time they saw him to when he got hit, even claiming that the front and inside cameras were not working at the time of the incident so they don’t have proof of weather or not they did try to warn him
@@shantakidd6230 it's a kid so he hasn't developed common sense yet, but we're talking about train tracks. Shock doesn't reduce pain, adrenaline does. He didn't feel anything because of it, and the shock is more deadly than anything in this situation, after the blood loss of course.

By asking about questions about how he approached the train, how he fell, the direction of the train, the way the train and him where facing, etc. The dispatcher can piece together his injuries without the boy having to actually acknowledge his injury if that makes sense. If the boy is forced to describe his blood loss, where his feet where severed off, it could freak him out, raising blood pressure and causing further blood loss.
k, nerd
That explains everything; thank you!
And his location

Agreed. It also distracts him a little bit from his injuries.
he's so calm, but you can hear that he's a little panicky, but he's keeping it at Bay so the paramedics can understand him. (from personal experience.) I know that if you panic and scream or cry into the phone. the dispatcher can not understand you. He did a good job at that.
Addison Rerecich he’s most likely in shock which causes you to be super calm and not even feel the pain for a while
He Is in shock
It's more like shock. Suprised he didn't die from that alone.
Addison Rerecich he was in shock
Nah, he was in shock.
Prayers 😢
Oh Jacob. Bless you my man. I hope life is treating you good. Bless you buddy. 🙏 ♥️
what was the ear bud he was wearing??
The new beats. make it so you dont feel earthquakes etc.
Nice
Nice
I like Skullcandy better than beats
+GradeAUnderA is a cave man Agreed
I’ll probably never understand why people walk on train tracks with earbuds in. Kinda stupid, no?
In my country you get arrested right away
Everybody seems to be forgetting that he was a TEEN! Teens usually think they're INVINCIBLE! I, personally, have always been a big "chicken", so I never did anything reckless, even as a teen. I did silly/stupid things, but nothing dangerous.

it's crazy what shock can do to a person
I hope he's doing okay, 🙏
The dispatcher was asking him questions to distract and keep him a little calm, also if she freaked out he wouldve been freaking out too
Could have dropped a link to the GoFundMe in the video description...
@Koishi Komeiji Not the time nor the place imho.
Yeah im not paying for that

Despite illegally walking on the tracks he tried to sue CSX for this incident. He also tried to personally sue the conductor for not honking the horn loud enough (lol- kid couldn’t hear a train horn over his AirPods that’s not the conductor’s problem). He also claimed the company were in the wrong because there weren’t signs warning people that it’s dangerous to walk on train tracks.

This is sad, I see so many train accidents like this. Why do so many people walk alongside train tracks with music in their ears?
That is so sad you must always be cautious when around train tracks
Poor guy, you can hear the pain and saddness in his voice.
But you can also hear the clear highs and thumping lows that only Raycon brand earbuds can give you.
He wasn’t feeling pain at that time lmao
@@ajspice quality comment lol
Even with the volume on max, how do you not hear a train coming????
DaEverything1 with volume on max, I don’t think you’d hear anything if they’re good earphones.. unless you’re using apple earbuds
Or you know...look both ways etc.
Sam Lutfi Agreed, I’m not buying this earbud story.
DaEverything1 bigger question is why didn’t the train honk it’s horn to warn the kid
Because he was not at a railroad crossing where trains toot their horns like 3 times
This is why you don’t walk on or near a train track…
My Dad used to drive Trains for a living, and he would often come home early because someone committed suicide. I remember seeing the look on his face the first time it happened.
RIP Dad.
Having an 18 year old boy, my heart breaks. God bless him and his family.
this is sad, but why is this in everyones recommended all of a sudden. its from 2017,
BECAUSE HE HURT HIS LEG LIKE ME
Do you expect that all videos in your feed is brand new. This isnt in everyones feed. Its in everyones who watch similar types of videos. And it gets recommended at anytime for any people.

I feel more sorry for the conductor of the train. The trauma that person will go through for their rest of their life is unreal and unfair.
@The Tyro of Toriyama The other did that to himself
Poor baby. I feel so sorry him
While it’s tragic that he lost his legs, and that I’m glad he survived, he shouldn’t have been walking on the tracks with ear buds in.
🙄
@@jb6712 i mean is he wrong?
@abc123 I hope they take out their earbuds to hear this lesson
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
"Griff Wilson" Tell that to millions of other people who wear ear buds not paying attention to traffic .
I donated 10$ to that poor kid :) I know it isn't but every bit helps..
Why donate to sum stupid kid who did this to himself when there’s literally people out there that actually need money for medical expenses people and health car. Y’all donated 35k to a kid who was probably attempting suicide wtf is wrong with people I’m not tryna say don’t help him but why donate money to him
