Lewis looks like a yoga instructor who has never done yoga in a day in his life.
It's the man bun mullet combo he's got going
I think he's actually me, a guy who has an ever growing widow peak and has given up trying to style it.
@@111cvb111 I gave up styling years ago, but mostly because I'm just to lazy to get it cut. (My hairline is fine in my mid 30's hooray!)
Now it's getting closer to arse-length and I just have to pull it together and throw a quick pony tail to 'style' it :p
He looks like a skeleton in a school science class that someone threw a white sheet over.
Did you know he was a vegan?
Simon doing his little kid and abusive father voice gave me YogPod vibes
I can’t believe they accurately predicted that JK Rowling was an arse.

Lewis: "You're talking to a vegan"
Oh I think the top knot at rope necklace made that pretty clear Lew Lew
If he was Vegan, then cheese would be out the window, too.
Funny how they always have to mention it, too lol. What the heck happened to him, midlife crisis?
Apparently he was a vegetarian 3 years ago already. He reached a new level I guess.
@@BobT36 Lewis just chats shit all the time tbf vegan or not hahahà

I hope they never stop doing Simon's Peculiar Portions, because this is legitimately my favorite thing the Yogscast produces at the moment. 😁
I can’t believe Lewis mentioned Claire from the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen.
I can't believe Lewis is vegen
is this a jojo reference?
I would die for Claire from the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen
I love it when other people mention CFTBATK, Lewis made my day
When worlds collide.
The Facebook post was wrong, only American carbonara has cream, traditional italian carbonara has no cream. The carbonara becomes creamy because of the technique of the egg yolk and cheese
no pancetta either in traditional carbonara
or garlic
Guanciale (a cured pork jowl), Pecorino Romano (A hard goats cheese), Egg, and black pepper
That's the recipe I know. But tbh, Guanciale's such a pain to get that pancetta is a lot more common, and bacon is seen as the last feasible substitute.
I think the carbonara dish was actually supposed to be a "pantry dish"-quick and easy to make cause all the ingredients are commonly in an Italian pantry. All the ingredients have a really long shelf life. You can keep hard cheeses in your fridge for a looong time, Guanciale is cured which makes it last longer, etc.
In that sense, Steven made a banging carbonara...
It just looks vile.
xXHydroDragonXx I agreed with you entirely until the last sentence
@@xXHydroDragonXx I like to keep pancetta in the freezer for this very reason. Always have the other ingredients in stock so if I have no clue what to make I fall back on carbonara. (though I do add a lil garlic because I like the taste ohoho)
I remember a few years ago Lewis didn't want to become vegan so he didn't become that guy who always says about being vegan, look how far he's fallen
it's almost like Dr Simon Clarke mentioning that he is a doctor :D
I do love how Lewis became the vegan he always complained about. Much love Lewis and Simon
I genuinely want to hear such an instance if you are able to remember specifically?
@@wrylysmiley I'm currently looking thru old videos but it was in one of their minecraft series I believe and he said something along the lines of you know those vegans that never stop talking about being vegan
@@wrylysmiley or an old GTA 5 video

Lewis: Great question. I'm not going to answer it, but here is the entire rest of my diet.
In this episode of Simon's PP:
Bon Apetit reference (rip)
Yogscast self burn
Lewis goes on a vegan healthy food tangent.
Oh I was confused by you saying RIP to bon appetit, so I went to there channel and say they haven't uploaded. What happened, have they just been unable to work because of Corona?
@@theveryaveragegamer9865 Nope - a scandal emerged when pictures of the magazine's editor-in-chief in brownface got released, which led to sweeping public realisations that Bon Appetit (and more generally, Conde Nast) have inherent racial bias in their work culture. PoC editors not being paid for appearing in videos, general racial biases popping up everywhere etc. Sohla El-Waylly was the main driver of it, but most of the others have stepped forwards in some gesture of support. The editor-in-chief has resigned.
I wouldn't expect to see any content there for a little while, until BA and Conde Nast in general can sort their shit out & "reboot" without some of those biases tainting stuff.

Surprised Old_Peculier hasn't featured
Lewis is somewhere between Old_Peculier and Swampy_Bogbeard at this point

The fact that no-one involved knows what is supposed to be in a carbonara mildly annoys me more than it should.
Eh adding garlic is the right way to go though
Michael Honaker It’s heresy according to italians but so good
It's the Yogscast Guarantee™!
@@mlg_teletubby9391 How would you even add garlic? Just plonk a slice in the pasta?
Simon and Lewis talking about dumb stuff is my favorite.
yeah. strong old school vibes ♥️
Simon had it right the first time.... Traditional Italian Carbonara is made with parmigiano or pecorino cheese and NO cream. Trust your instincts Simon ;)
Here you can see the vegan transformation in full effect, as Lewis has started sprouting a man bun.
To be fair he's gone more Buddhist than pure vegan
Special guest: Simon from 2013
This was amazing
Which member of the yogscast keeps stealing traffic signs when they're drunk?
And seemingly North American ones at that.
I just imagine Sips sending them as souvenirs.
Top Lobster Tom ofcourse
Oh please, kids steal traffic cones for football goal post all the time, also those signs keep getting replace because people keep bashing them so people are fine if these go missing after the road construction is finish
Carbonara is pancetta, egg yolk, a strong cheese like parmesan, spaghetti and black pepper. No cream
I was gonna comment this, what was the article talking about??
what about the heaps of pepper?
there might be more than one way to make it, just saying
@@idiotstupid5904 There are, the right way and the wrong way
Exactly, but there are some amazing variations you can try out. Garlic goes well with the pancetta, but I've also tried it with smoked goose instead of pancetta and black truffle which takes it to the next level.
So - I haven't watched for a while...
What. The *hell* . Happened to his hair.
It's the whole "can't get to a barber during lockdown" thing. These videos are a few months behind.
I wanna see a Lewis cooking show where he emphasizes throughout the entire episode that he is or isn't using vinegar in each of the dishes
Haven't seen the Yogscast in a good while, and settled down to watch this for the evening. Brilliant laugh! 10/10 would recommend again.
Simon using his leg as a mouse mat is a mood!
2:31
I mean just looking at it certainly makes me want to give up on life and I'm not even Italian and nor do I generally even like that kind of food.
That's not meant to be Italian that's not even noodles. They are called churritos which is a mexican corn chip shaped like that. I've done this before as a quick snack with tapatio or valentina hot sauce with a couple chopped up hot dogs. Never put cheese on it though
Lewis looks like he can't be trusted with a Soviet Nuclear Reactor.
"eat a bit of cheese every day to train up" I've been training my whole life for this
1:34 that Carbonara recipe just gave me an aneurism. Actually, it's Guanciale, Egg Yolk, Pecorino cheese, Black Pepper, and most importantly, pasta water (salted and starched water in which the pasta was cooking in). The pasta water, Cheese and Egg Yolk emulsify with the Guanciale fat to give it that creamy texture. No cream, no ham, no garlic, although the garlic does give it that little bit extra, but it's not in the traditional recipe.
Watching this while eating. Lewis and Simon are shaming my meal :(
The show is so underrated reminds me of the old days of bluexephos and honeydew
Lewis:*is vegan*
Also Lewis:*eats very cheesy carbonara*
Fun fact about turmeric stains (I believe)
They’re bad because they change color when they come in contact with an acid/base. They’re a PH indicator
These two cracking each other up is actually the magic spell that staves off the return of the Elder Gods.
Glad they didn’t make it so we couldn’t hear them ramble during the zoom out this time. I mean thats the whole reason I subscribed and are still watching to this day.
5:16 What is this editing? LOL I love the editing in this video! Great content, as always!
BA & Yogs crossovers are so desperately needed in the future.
Maybe a BA guest stream in the Jinglejam. Andy making cocktails, Claire baking, Brad fermenting something and releasing the alicin. And Sohla there to fix everybody's problems
To answer Lewis's question: they tend to clear oil off of bird feathers using Dawn dish detergent.
This has the essence of the Minecraft days, you could overlay any Minecraft video with this audio, and boom vintage yogscast.
Cream?! CREAM?! NO CHEESE?!
yeah. was about to post the same. Lewis went to Italy and visited a restaurant that specializes for carbonara and... cream jebud
Man, this is podcast is what the yogscast really needed to bring back the original minecraft fans such as myself.
I haven't been interested in their content since the end of the Tekkit days, and tried to watch some of their newer stuff before but it didn't work out, but this podcasts makes me realise that half of the value of their minecraft let's plays is them talking about shit like this.
Also loved how Lewis joked about how the yogscast went downhill after the minecraft days. 😂
Keep up the good work if you two see this, you guys were fortunately unfortunately my childhood.
Seems like Lewis is entering his middle aged hippy phase, all that's left is for him to buy a vw camper, in Jaffa orange ofc 😄
Please start the yogpod again!!! Because these two talking are amazing!
According to my grandmother, and i quote "to make a carbonara you don't use, garlic, no cream, no parsley, no ham. You use spaghetti seasoned with browned guanciale, pecorino romano, black pepper and beaten eggyolks, or you go make something else"
I appreciate the reference to Bon Appetit! Claire and Brad are my fave!
Lockdown seems to have grinded their videos to a halt though.
They actually stopped because their was a whole bunch of racist shit going on in the company apparently.
Yeah they were making videos from home.
They're currently going through some problems with them not paying POC/BAME people for their appearances in shows. They fired their chief editor (I think) and Alex Delaney is under scrutiny as well.
Yeah it's come to light that some of the BIPOC employees of Bon Appetit/ Conde Nast were underpaid/ not paid for their video appearances, and that some white employees with less experience are paid better than POC employees with lots of experience. I'm not sure about what's up with Delaney but I know Matt Hunziker was suspended for speaking against the poor treatment of BIPOC employees.
TLDR BIPOC employees of Bon Appetit are not fairly treated/ paid so the video production has paused until things are sorted out
I just realized why I'm enjoying this. Cow Chop's Weird side of CZcams... I love it!
Didn't expect a shout-out for Claire Saffitz from the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen.
I'd love to see Lewis and Simon try and keep up with Claire from the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen.
I like it when it zooms out on them rambling.
Now I'm just remembering "Mummy! Mummy! Can I listen to the YogPod?" *"fUCK OFF."*
Nice editing as always
This time next year Lewis is going to have dreadlocks and a hacky sack addiction
There's just something about these two that actually makes me want to listen to a podcast style commentary. But just these two. They're amazing
"they were very funny in the minecraft days...Look at whats happened to them now"
yikes lewlew
there are quite a few comments that say that, sadly.
self burn, those are rare..
It's true. Although Simon and Lewis as a duo are still just as funny. They should collaborate more.
thats the best thing i have heard all day the yogscast roasting the yogscast XD 3:44
Cruciferous describes a family of plants that have their branches grow in a cross-like formation (cruci) and includes brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli and kale but NOT garlic. All plants are made of cells, but he might have meant something different.
Also the compound that is purported to be beneficial for health in cider, red wine and their vinegars is only found in unfiltered/undistilled vinegars and cider or wines with sediment left in. Additionally the amount of vinegar you would have to drink to gain a significant amount of it is more than would be recommended to have over a week, but a spoonful is cider is also touted as a home remedy to help with appetite so it could be good for something.
I love Lewis, but I'm very glad Simon is his caretaker
Lewis love a bit of p-flax seed
Watching this while delivering an express package to the Porcelain Valley river, and the second that disgusting plate of pasta popped onto the screen an intrusive waft of the most stomach-turning turd musk fisted it's way into my sinus cavities. Turned the whole image into pure abject brown horror.
Whomever made that revolting plate of food, may you step on sharpened Lego pieces.
Now I've got the image in my head of Chef Gordan Ramsey shouting at someone and ending with "this is the culinary equivalent of stepping on lego pieces!!!"
Forget the bird, this is just Lewis and Simon talking about food
Really love these videos
The recipe for carbonara that was in the first article made me cringe so much more than the picture! THERE'S NO CREAM IN CARBONARA GOD DAMNIT!!!
5:40 I’m pretty sure I can here the people in the background laughing
Simons the roast master in this one 😂
rope necklace, top knot, vegan, hippy lewis is the content i didn't ask for, but so desperately needed
im a bit sad this series isn't getting much traction because it's great! it's a satisfying de-escalation from the other hectic series!
Traditional carbonara has 4 ingredients:
Pasta
Egg yolk
Hard cheese
Pork (traditionally guanciale)
Carbonara is very simple to make. So after about two tests even a fingerless wanker such as me can nail it each time.
Also there must be cheese such as pecorino romano or parmesan, but cream is a huge nono.
Lewis has the same hair as the wizard male from diablo 3 😂
the zoom away bits are the best
im not getting these videos in my recommended anymore, I have to go to your channel directly on fridays
Do u not get them in ur sub box?
Oh Lewis how you made that comment bout your Minecraft days, I miss those but you guys have managed to keep my attention over the years.
Didn't Leo talk about the curry bird on colony survival stream at one point?
When simon said about the kid making the dad that meal on fathers day. It reminded me of an advert that had a girl saying "wake up daddy, breakfast ready" and it was a plate of cold baked beans with a swiss roll on the top. I am thinking only people Simon's age might remember it tho. Still funny as ever lads. Regards.
I vaguely remember that ad!
3:42 That self burn hurts a little too much
As a man who just eats melted cheese and onion sometimes with bread and seaweed sometimes just cheese or I’ll make an omelette with 75% percent cheese where the egg actually deep fried cause of the grease my point is...there’s always less effort you can put into a meal

You can tell the hotdog was cut with a serrated blade but not sawed.
Carbonara is some sort of bacon(pancetta, guancialeor the like) , add the cooked noodles and heat and coat with the lard, and add the eggs off the heat, stirring to combine. Then you add a considerable amount of hard cheese.
This was in my recommended thank you youtube!
3:30 i did not expect CFTBATK to be mentioned
6:30 NOOOO! That's Akatosh's brother from Oblivion, Akatrash!
Lewis, I recommend bile soap to clean your trousers with.
I’m loving Lewis’s man bun, did he take Duncan’s hair style
So what I learned from this story is Lewis should’ve eaten a square of cheesy chocolate a day for a while before having that carbonara.
Watched a friend's brother make a pizza out of a pita, ketchup, Kraft singles and salami. Yup.
It's interesting to think about how many of their viewers back when they were doing stuff like Shadow of Israphel are actually old enough to be parents of kids who are old enough to find them on youtube now.
No cream in a proper carbonara. The sauce emulsifies by the addition of starchy pasta water.
Lewis and his new hair looking like Legolas. Legolewis lol
4:40 remember, flax is string
2:36 had me crying
Fun fact, most Italian recipes don’t combine cheese and garlic. This is due to the fact that a lot of cheese is strong in Italy, so they don’t like combining the sharp cheese with the strong garlic.
They should do a vegan themed episode of this, so we can watch Simon ask Lewis hilarious questions about being vegan
I too have been shamed for only eating half an eggplant.
Shame on you. Shame on your remaining half eggplant.
