- It's the end of Summer and Fall is showing her true colors. Jen and I scramble to pack in one more hike before the big snow starts to shut out the scramble climbs. Join us as we tackle a longer draw out hike up a crescent moon shaped peak in search of glory...and a really good place to have a cocktail pep.

Can't believe someone made it to the real summit. So many think that the meadows is the top. It took me 3 tries but I was also doing during it off season with lots of snow. Con grats,
Suggestion for slopes with loose rocks: It's better to stick close by the person you're climbing with than it is to leave space between the two of you. The reason is because the closer you are together, the less momentum/speed any rocks that you dislodge will have if they do come into contact with your climbing partner. A rock that has been bouncing down the side of a steep slope for 50 feet is going to have a lot more momentum and be a lot more dangerous than a rock that has only been rolling down the slope for two or three feet. Plus, when you're on loose rocks on a steep slope, you might not have a lot of room to maneuver and jump out of the way if a rock is flying down the hill at you. Sticking close together is better than leaving space.

Just wanted to thank you both for taking me on virtual hikes with you! I love all these WA hikes you do. I can't always get out to them due to occasional physical limitations, but these videos get me through long winters and dark moods. In Physical Therapy now to be in shape by Spring for some of these. Again, thank you for sharing your adventures!

I think it has been to long and I have forgotten how long forgotten is. I'm with Jen that is a long haul up Perry creek to the ridge top, but once you're there what a nice trip over to the summit. Thanks for the video, well done as always.
Very interesting story about the true summit. I wonder if you guys would climb it another time, if it was discovered that the other one is actually the true summit.
I actually don't pay to much attention to the birds, but I admire them when I'm on the highest place, tired, swetting, dripping and they're all above me, in peace, easily moving through the wind waves. Is always good to take the trail back home with their songs on the ears, while the autumn leaves fall, and the tiredness leaves us.

Awesome stuff, I am a loyal subscriber! I got to the meadows years ago when the trail was shorter. My hiking partner got a little scared when we tried to go further, so never made the summit... BUT, If you haven't done Pugh yet, do it! Very rewarding day hike, scrambles, great trail, lots of elevation! :)
Pugh is very high up on our list for this summer one it's clear of snow. :)

Some of my friends and I went up to do this one time and probably will never do it again. By the time we got the majority of the way up we were so bored and honestly tired of it then we didn't even try to do the summit. Love the look of the top though.

1. You mentioned you like birds a lot. What is that bird call at the beginning of all your videos?
2. It seems as time goes by and you continue to produce these videos, the abilities of you both to relate to the camera are becoming more adept. The way you both address the viewer is increasingly personable, engaging and caring. I really appreciate your efforts. How has your regard for the camera changed since you started? Was there a progression of regard for the camera from electronic device to conscious observer?
Anyway, you guys do remarkable work while you're having fun!
Hi John. The bird at the beginning is an Olive-sided Flycatcher and it's call sounds like it's saying "Quick Three Beers". As far as the progression it's a combination of becoming more comfortable with the camera and treating it as a person and not a device. :)

Love your videos! Those hikes are so dreamy!! :-) I'll be up your way early September, and I'm hoping to do one of the hikes you two have posted. Wondering though, because I watch your videos on the CZcams app of an Xbox and Roku I have no way of knowing the date of your hike. I can open the video in history on my phone, but I thought it would great if you could post the date and time in the beginning of your video right in the corner of the video so we can see it on the screen. Maybe starting temperature as well. I've have seen others do it and it's very helpful in understanding time of year, climate, etc. Thanks for your time and consideration of my request. -D

That one's been on the list for quite some time. Still working on the logistics of when it would be best and how to handle it, overnight or dayhike. The lookout gets packed now-a-days.
Outside & Stuff I would recommend doing an overnight. Bring your micro spikes and your ice ax you may need them towards the top.. we camped at goat flats.

That place should be snow free right now, right? Should make for a good overnight trip with a quick summit.
It’s more than likely snowed in. Last week snow level was 4600ft give or take. The summit is melted out. But that approach is more than likely under snow.
