    I drove in there Yesterday from Saxon to blue mountain road then over the top and down to Daily Prairie. It's been 30 years since I've been back there...Forgot how beautiful the Sisters/Skookum creek area is.

    Crazy to see how little snow is left up there. Back in the 70s when I was at Western, there was always 10 to 20 times that much snow all through the summer. The glissade down the north face and nw and w lower sections made a speedy trip back down.

    I camped down in the bowl last year and saw a group of climbers get trapped halfway up from bad weather and it got dark before it cleared. Sketchy climb for sure

    Certainly the most abrasive rock I have ever climbed. Years ago, attempting the traverse, one party member came up lame, so we only climbed north twin. Afterwards, my fingertips were worn so thin I could see blood vessels just under the skin on all tips. Went back the next week and did the traverse, North to South twin, but wore gloves. Without gloves, would probably have had bleeding fingertips after that second climb.

    Wow this is just amazing. This looks like the most challenging climb of all your videos. Loved the emotion at the end. Those grasshoppers were the angels taking care of you ;)

    Great climb! In the old days we could drive up closer to the route.

      There is actually a logging road access permit you can get for this. But it's something like $250 annually. :\

    That was a climb in a half right there you two. I would have slept in my subaru also, after making that climb. Glad to see that you made it back down safely.

      @OutsideAndStuff  Před 6 lety

      Thank you! I'm now trying to figure out ways to make the subaru a bit more comfortable to sleep in without buying a different vehicle. :)

      When I know that i'm going to be ocean camping, I sleep like a king with a Intex prestige downy air mattress. It sits level with the rear seat lip, so you can get more room in the back. A nice comfy pillow helps. I also take an inverter for my power needs, like my cpap machine, phone, ect. I do the same setup with my fullsize truck with a canopy on the back, and a piece of carpet on the floor. plenty of room for me and my gear. Hope this helps, take care.

      Sooooo close. I don't think we will hit it by the end of the year. But hopefully we can surpass 3K by the end of next year. :) Also, hurry up and post your comp vid from last weekend! :D

      I am still editing! Maxiem took a looooottttt of footage....140 odd videos -.- I am trying my best :D

    • @OutsideAndStuff
      @OutsideAndStuff  Před 6 lety

      I typically shoot 130 videos, 90min of footage. Takes me roughly 8-9 hrs to edit down one video. Good luck! :D

    Well, this is too hardcore for me, I admit it. Too much technique and courage. At least I'll have some precious tips if I change my mind about this in the future, cause it's always worth the view. :] Well done guys! And nick, you're the bravest man I've ever seen, doing this with one hand. Thank you guys for another great experience.
    See you at the next trailhead !

    • @OutsideAndStuff
      @OutsideAndStuff  Před 6 lety +1

      To each their own. :) There is no way I could have done this a couple years ago. In terms of both physical and mental abilities. Heck, I was mentally drained about 3/4 of the way up but was becoming determined to make it.

    @johndivita4842 Před 6 lety +1

    Great effort you guys! Toughest hike/climb yet, by appearance. Well done!! It would seem that scrambling back down is more dicey that going up. Is that your experience?

    • @OutsideAndStuff
      @OutsideAndStuff  Před 6 lety +1

      Downclimbing is definitely something to get used to. In this instance it was actually easier because we just ran the ridge the whole way down. Which is supposedly the official route. When you start going off route on this, it turns into more and more of a climb. Also, I ended up not going up anything I wouldn't be able to go back down.
