Ever since I was a little kid every night before bed my dad and I would say goodnight to eachother in French. I have been learning French since kindergarten and my dad is interested in learning. The first line from either of us was always. dad:“bon nuit mon petit Mademoiselle.” (Goodnight my little lady) me: “bon nuit papa.” (Goodnight dad) then we would go on with the rest. I came out to him about a year ago. And that night when I went to bed he said to me. “Bon nuit mon petit monsieur” (goodnight my little Mr/man) I swear I responded with tears in my eyes. Ever since that day he has called me by l preferred pronouns. Only used my nickname when saying my name (my nickname is gender neutral) and introduced me to people as his son. This reminds me... When I had just started my transition (MtF) I went shopping with one of my best friends (male), and the cashier insisted after seeing the name on my card that my "boyfriend" had to sign for the receipt. I told her no, that's my card. She didn't believe me, because I was CLEARLY a lady, and the name was quite obviously male.
This was before hormones or any surgery or anything. I had only let my hair grow out, shaved and was wearing a poofy dress to hide my (lack of) curves.
I don't think she was even trying to be mean or anything, she just saw a woman, in male company, paying with a card that has a male name on it and guessed that it must be the "husband"'s card.
But that still was such an amazing, affirming moment for me, it's really hard to put into words the joy I felt when I realized what had happened.

@@N0rmalDude Yea, but "the norm" often accounts for things like common mental illnesses, a variety of different birth defects, and needing to wear glasses, so not acknowledging intersex people's existence is willful ignorance with questionable motivation. The norm doesn't matter anymore in the modern world.
Whatever the case, I'm not sure if I understand why you felt the need to say that. Talking about trans people automatically means we aren't talking about "the norm". It's like if someone said "I hate when people say ADHD is just being unable to focus, because it's like saying depression is just being sad" and you responded "well, depression is rare" and thinking that somehow works as a counterpoint.
No, three isn't a "reasonable stance", because you're either talking about the genetic norm for people (2 sexes, and even that is debatable since the Y chromosome seems to be a messed up version of the X chromosome), or you're talking about _all_ viable possibilities. No, that doesn't mean 87, stupid.

For me, the idea of having a fun party with a nice cake that had a secret color inside letting me know "surprise, it's a [sex]" was something that helped me push through some of the more painful early parts of my VERY difficult pregnancy. If my child later comes out as trans, that's OK! It doesn't take away the fun of that party or the loving memories we all shared of that experience. When they asked the spirits if I was gay, they replied"no," but when asked if I was straight, the spirits said "no" to that as well. "So what _are_ you??"

Friend of mine came out as ace last year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating pride month.
I didn’t for years (Iunno. I just didn’t feel like it was my thing. One year I decided to consume media only at least mostly-queer, but yeah), but to send a “happy pride!” message to him every day is something I’m super hype for.
He’s been really publicly uncomfortable and awkward about being “weird” and such for over 10 years (he’s kind of well known. Not gonna drop names), and he seems to be much more comfortable and confident in general this year, despite stress.

I have a “whoops, I helped them” moment too. I work at a magazine and we have a page where us employees comment on stuff. It has our name and picture.
I only figured out last year I’m a trans guy (I’m in my 30s), so before that I obviously had a woman’s name, but I already had short hair and didn’t dress femininely.
So a reader sent me a nasty handwritten letter about how ugly I am and that I look like I’d prefer to be a man and whatnot. I received said letter right after figuring out as trans, so the letter actually helped me with coming out: I’d show it to my coworkers cause it was hilarious and then I could go “you know they have a point when they write I look like I’d rather be a man cause surprise, I’m trans!”
The letter was so helpful cause finding the right moment to come out is so hard.

As a trans man who sometimes likes to do drag, I absolutely love those moments when I am talking with someone who's pretending to be nice and they gradually get more aggressive when calling me "man" and "bro" thinking that I am a trans woman will be upset, until they get too frustrated with me feeling extremely validated, lol. On a serious note though, it's not surprising but pretty sad that almost all of these are directed at trans people. This is exactly why I don't openly talk about it.

Most people only knew the term "homosexuality" but they did not know what "heterosexuality" means. Many gave "homophobic" answers such as "Well even if they have TRUE LOVE still they cannot have children..." or "OF COURSE I know several people like this but I am against it..." Like many of they sounded as if they have a very romantic view of homosexuals or as if they think that 50 percents of all people are LGBT+. But also they did not even know what "heterosexuality" means so they were saying all of that stuff about heterosexuality believing that they talk about gay people.

I don't thinks it's the chromosomes that are the issue at all. As a pansexual demi-ace AFAB NB who has had these kind of conversations with their cisgender heterosexual panromantic husband, it really is just the utter disinterest in the 'incorrect' (for the sexuality of the individual) genitalia that causes a bit of confusion. Like there's no panic or repulsion, or dramatic BS, just "how does someone handle this specific situation in a polite manner?". Sex and sexual attraction is about bodies, physical forms (much as we don't like to admit it) more even than minds and hearts. We're not talking about love or any other emotional attachment here, just the physical actions of sex. As a demi-ace I literally have to have emotional investment in someone to be interested in sex, but I still have physical preferences, though way fewer than most gay or straight people I've talked to. If you find vag*na or d*ck repulsive, well, that's not your fault. How you treat the person IS your fault. Just be polite! If we shouldn't get angry about someone having a physical preference for tall women over short, or such, why do we have to get defensive when we talk about genitals? We need more open, civil, communication, not less.

Omni-man : lies to his son, eviscerate his heroes in front of him, uses him as a tool to kill more people, tries to teach him that humans are worthless and they're gods, tries to get him on the dark side

That the choice of gender had no impact on anything in Starfield is kinda a thing I like about it. Yeah, it might've been out of developer-lazyness. But think about it, how do you express normality in science fiction?
Did you recognize the dude in the dress in the very first episode of Star Trek TNG? Before or after someone mentioned it to you? The point is, it is not acknowledged in any way by the characters, there's no comment, nothing towards this dude wearing one of the dress uniforms.
And why should there be? In this universe it is not something that is considered unnormal. The expression of self in a way that fits your self is one of the core messages of Star Trek. It would be weird if anyone (from the crew) would make a snarky comment about it.
Back to Starfield: That it has no impact whatsoever in conversation and such could just be that in this future the chosen gender is just.... normal and everyone just accepts it without thinking about it.
That is also what a lot of modern series get wrong about trying to send a morality-message. They highlight what they want to show as normal. But that's not how life works. Normal is not what gets highlighted. Normal is what just happens without anyone really noticing.
I don't think that Bethesda should change anything about this specifically for this very reason. Yeah, if you make it more important you can p'ss off some wannabe alpha males, but is that really the goal? It's funny, I agree, but is this really what showing normality should be about?

She usually joins us in these calls, and if you need to email her, her email address is this __."
