    Great Video! I couldn't make up my mind so I got both but haven't opened the kit version yet because I've had such a blast with the RTR.. The RTR is no slouch, I did the radio swap with me Spektrum DX4S and tweaked the ESC with the Castle Link and went to a HiTech Waterproof Servo. The RTR servo is a good throttle servo for one of my nitro's..

    Harley Designs, Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I was just about to place a order for the RTR Yeti till I watched your video. I may just go with the kit version. If you don't mind me asking, can you recommend a inexpensive motor/esc combo that would be suitable for the Yeti? I was thinking maybe the Castle Creations 1/10 SV3 Sidewinder SCT System 3800kV. Your thoughts? Or should I get the motor/esc combo out of the RTR Yeti. (Found a few on ebay for sale.) Is there a Hobbywing combo you could recommend? Thanks again for posting the great videos. REALLY helps us newbies out a lot.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 8 lety

      I don't run the hobby wing setups so I don't have much to suggest there. The 4 pole castle setups should be good but I'd suggest going with one that uses the MMP rather than the sidewinder. You want some higher amperage ratings for the Yeti as its a big 4x4 truck.

  • @rogerbeam3364

    I built a 1/10 yeti kit and put a castle 1/8 scale 2200kv combo in it along with hd 64 t spur and 22 t pinion for speed with a 2s at the time most likely going to a 3-4, as for the speed I thought it would be faster with the 1/8 in it and I'm disappointed , do you think the 3150 vanguard would work better ? Upgrades to the pinion/spur and bevel sets are coming , any suggestions ?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 5 lety

      The KV is what matters most as that is what refers to the speed. A 3000kv system is pretty solid on 3s but to get that same speed on 2s you would need a 4500kv system which is generally not recommended.

    @denniswachter3118 Před 9 lety

    I wanted the rtr until now but your very informative video changed my mind. Thanks for that! But I have nerver build a kit before, how do you install the receiver and the esc? Could you please make a video of that? And would it be a good choise to put all the electronics that the rtr has into the kit? If not, what would you take? I know a lot of questions I hope you can answer some. Thanks

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 9 lety

      Dennis Wächter I am working on getting some things going on simple install things like the ESC and radio question you asked. The RTR electronics are nice quality with the exception of maybe the radio which I would suggest spending a little more. You can also look into the other Castle 4 pole systems which are great basher setups.

    Hey man I put most of my kit together and it's is the first yeti I have seen or touched so,kinda cool . I have seen vids but nothing with the flex or how the suspension works . I ask/ mention this as I have got little to no flex I have smooth up and down no binding but no articulation so not sure if the sway bar is that crazy or what. Cheers thanks from red deer rc

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 9 lety

      The rear sway bar definitely cuts down on the typical articulation you're used to. It's definitely geared towards speed and less crawling.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc

    What steering servo are you running on the KIT version? Also did you have to or did you upgrade the steering servo on the RTR?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 9 lety

      Rusty Stebar I am running a high power servo in both of mine. BUT the servo saver in the RTR and Kit are both pretty weak so if you run a lot of power it gets soaked up anyway. I have modified my servo saver with spacer to help this. I would suggest a servo with around 300 oz/in of power personally.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 9 lety

      ChaosGeneral1 I think you would quickly overheat that setup. I would suggest a quality 4 pole motor and an ESC like the Mamba Max Pro instead of the sidewinder.

    Hi. I am going to get a crawler, definitely Axial. But I want a kit because of the upgrades that come with it. Do you have a video on how to complete a kit from scratch? I barely know anything about crawlers since I'm only starting to get into this hobby.
    How are these performing on mud / water? Will the exposed electronics be fine?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 8 lety

      I do not have a start to finish video sorry. If you plan on a lot of water you'll need to buy waterproof electronics or waterproof them on your own. I personally do not like to give waterproofing advice as I don't like the moral liability I'd have if something wasn't described clearly.

  • @Team-Fraser
    @Team-Fraser Před 8 lety

    I am really tempted to build a Yeti kit for a bit of crawling and a bit of trailing. Do you think a 21.5t brushless system on 2S will be suitable for this? I run the same 21.5t system in my SCX10 with good success.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  Před 8 lety +1

      Personally that's much too slow. And if you want to trail and crawl, I'd suggest a Wraith. A yeti is not a good crawler or trail rig. It's good at going fast.
