    Axial has done it again! They raised the bar even on themselves offering a Yeti XL KIT version to the already Epic Yeti XL RTR! This 1/8th (It seems like 1/6th scale, no joke!) scale Rock Racer will start life as a box of parts and will morph into a scale desert monster buggy ready to take on almost any terrain. With the included upgrades over thr RTR version, The Yeti XL KIT version will be the hit of any RC collection!
    Now in kit form, the Yeti™ XL monster buggy kit is a skillfully engineered truck with a solid rear axle and independent front suspension. Its distinct aesthetic and technical elements were inspired by full-size desert trucks. Its strategically engineered design supplies bashing stamina while delivering a high level of technical rock racing abilities without compromise in either category. This kit version will accept standard 1/8th scale brushless 4-pole systems and most industry standard stick packs. Precision Icon Vehicle Dynamics aluminum shocks are standard equipment and deliver smooth suspension movement for consistent handling. We've also included a rear sway bar (medium, 3.4mm), 3mm aluminum lower link plates, aluminum 17mm hex hubs and nuts, adjustable steel turnbuckles, and officially licensed 3.8 Falken WildPeak M/T tires in our S30 compound.

    I actually ran into the same exact problem with the body mount, snapped mine right off. Just finished installing new HR front shock tower and body mount, they are fantastic! The only issue is the shock cap hitting the actual shock arm on the tower, kinda limits placement of the shock but otherwise great. Looking forward to the reviews on more of the HR stuff that i'm wanting to add myself lol.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 9 lety

      Gradymanzx Yeah, I think it's the weird angle the body mount is to the shock tower......Yeah, I noticed the HR shock tower has a ton of mounting options for the upper shock mount, but there issues with the cap clearing.....There's three videos in the series for the HR parts

  • @garszy
    @garszy Před 9 lety

    Hey Rich,
    Would it be fair to say that the Yeti XL is really a cross platform vehicle. Meaning that it is a rock crawler by design, but most of us will drive and use it as a buggy (and bashing). Therefore, there will be some imperfections as a buggy and as a rock crawler. From what I have seen Axial has done an excellent job of covering both areas pretty well? I personally am getting the kit to bash and to add too the range of different scale and designed vehicles that I have in my collection.
    Thanks again for your excellent review. Keep up the excellent work, I look forward to your new posts each day.
    Garszy

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 9 lety

      Garszy Thansk Garszy. Yeah, the Yeti's are really made with two types of driving in mind and I've seen them go both ways. Of course, more aftermarket parts will be supported with the 380 sized Yeti, as the 480 is a bit higher priced (Less people will own them) I'm really addicted to driving them and making them different. I believe the Yeti series is the next big thing (Like the Slash 4x4 was a few years back)

  • @sfox84
    @sfox84 Před 7 lety

    Hi Rich, I been having my eye on this kit for a while. I love all of the carbon fiber upgrades available for this. I'm about done now with my 1/10 brushless E-Revo build, and I can't decide between getting this kit, or the 8s Traxxas Xmaxx for the next addition. What would you get between those two choices??

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 7 lety +2

      Honestly, the XMaxx is very over rated. If you want something that's unique, get the Yeti XL. It's large and very scale looking. The kit version will include upgrades it needs to survive the power. I ran mine on 4s only and it was plenty of power....I can only imagine 6s. The XMaxx needed 8s to try and keep up with others

    • @sfox84
      @sfox84 Před 7 lety

      The RCNetwork Thanks for the response! I will order my kit tonight. :)

  • @2001busa1
    @2001busa1 Před 8 lety

    I had to dremel the control arms because they fit so tight in the skid plate that the awkwardness of the fit actually threw off the diff case when I screwed it down which caused binding in the diff. My kit isn't going together as easy as it should. I should've bought the RTR and added better parts. It takes up a lot of time. The plastics seem rubbery and everything seems to be off by a fraction of a millimeter. Enough to make things difficult when building it. I hope it runs good after all this work. Great videos thanks.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 8 lety

      That doesn't sound right.......My XL went together great. Some of the plastics are a bit more pliable, to prevent breaking (items like arms and such) It's always better to build a kit - you have the knowledge if something goes wrong and you control the QC on loctite, grease, oil, etc

    • @2001busa1
      @2001busa1 Před 8 lety

      +The RCNetwork I have the newest version with no shims for the diffs. There is zero tolerance with the parts. Very tight fitting parts. I agree with you I like knowing the truck also but I mainly wanted to use my own electronics plus have the better parts of the kit. It's just taking a lot longer than I thought. Lol and a shitload of parts that don't seem to end.

    Have you jumped your Yeti XL at all? I have taken my Yeti XL out 3 times and all 3 times I've broken the rear driveshaft coupler when jumping it and not very high at all. I like the truck but 3 bashes and 3 breaks is not a good start and taking the rear axle apart to fix it is getting old to! Thanks for the video.

    • @TheRCNetwork

      That is correct for Sensorless, but not for sensored that I’m running. You do have to go into the programming and change the motor rotation.

    a silly question... does the kit contain all the screws that are needed to install the eletronics(esc, motor,servo), or do you have to provide that? since there is nowhere near me in a 1000mile range one single Rc shop that could provide any kind of support in Axial parts(or screws that fit in that matter), it would be painfull for me to get the kit and all the electronics, but miss buying the couple of screws needed for the install and wait 3 weeks long for them to get to me from overseas! Thanks in advance Rich!

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 8 lety

      You should get all the screws needed - having built this long ago and a terrible memory (sometimes) I would plan to have these on hand:
      Screw for your servo horn into the Servo (Usually comes with the servo)
      Screws to bolt the motor to the motor plate - Most kits do not include these

    I don't want to be a pain in the ass but did you have any issues getting the screws in the bottom of the chassis through the bulk head? I appreciate the help.I heard somewhere that there's a trick to screwing the chassis to the front end.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 8 lety

      That was the absolute worst part......screws going through the bottom into the "bat wing" looking top plate? It was horrible. I ended up switching it out for the Hot Racing top plate (it was expensive) which was much easier to screw in. Not much of a trick - just got to line up the plastic tub from the top plate to where the screw coming from underneath

    • @2001busa1
      @2001busa1 Před 8 lety

      +The RCNetwork hey what I did was put the 2 screws through that metal piece on the top and screwed it down to the bulk head with the two screws for the steering and it went right together. Lol this kit is a serious pain in the ass. Every step seems like a problem almost. I had an unfinished diff cup in my kit that I had to dremel out and the control arms had to be dremeled also because they fit so tight in the bulk head. A lot of extra work. Definitely not a kit for beginners.

    • @2001busa1
      @2001busa1 Před 8 lety
