    If you want your turbo to boost quicker and sound louder. Shorten your exhaust and make the inlet not labour as much. Hole in the breather box around 60mm in diameter.

    I know its a little late by now ,but If you shange the intake pipe to metal you can gain some wihstle and sweet turbo sounds.

    I've heard that the holes behind the silencer ring actually feed air to the slit in the turbo if you look in between the compressor fins there is a grove that if u remove the ring the air can get to there witch means you can gain more HP by removing it

    Good idea to take a part off that was sealed from dodge engineering to make a louder sound🙄

    All you accomplished there, was to remove what greatly helps to smoothly direct the incoming air flow into the compressor wheel. I sure hope you put it back.

    The whistle comes from the turbine wheel in the rear of the turbo.

    It's a turbulence diffuser ring. Turbulence equals noise so they call it a silencer ring. As far as turbine engineering goes anyway. they put that on there because it's like if you put a nozzle on a hose it can Squirt further and your pistons are a few linear feet away, but on a hose you can adjust the fan blade to get the optimal distance and shape etc.. so that ring works the same way but that would be on a factory set up, for the most engine longevity Vs horsepower, economy and everything else you guys know about. I used to run gas turbine engines in the military so that's just my input, also changed about a million turbos rebuilt them in a rotatable pool system for Detroit 149 blah blah blah work shit 🤦😂😂

    • @soupisfree
      @soupisfree Před 3 lety +1

      @scooter Dave From what I understand there have been other Cummins reps that have said the opposite. Meaning removing it doesn't hurt anything. Their are earlier models that didn't come with that buffer at all, but the inlet design was otherwise the same, did Cummins recall those? Or were there significant durability issues?

    • @Mastermindyoung14
      @Mastermindyoung14 Před 2 lety +1

      Incorrect

    • @jlbush8249
      @jlbush8249 Před 2 lety

      @@soupisfree Cummins says this was a RAM thing. They never required anything special, baffles or silencer rings, for the turbo. Therefore, all the arguments that its there to help the turbo is complete crap according to Cummins. They serve one purpose only, to make the turbo quieter as old men towing campers don't want to hear the noise.
