And even more amazingly, they were scheduled to enter the studio on a monday or tuesday. On the friday before, they trashed everything they had written (most of those songs came out on the 3rd album) and wrote the entire album over the weekend!

One of the great rock n roll LP's ever!
They were a fun band to see live. I saw them at Lehigh University on this tour in 1993. Along with t-shirts and hats as merch, they also sold Black Crowes rolling papers. I swore I would never use them, of course they were burned within a month. At the end of their show they would hang a huge banner behind them that said 'Free Us, No Narcs'. They were a real 'stoner' band.
This album is so freaking good. The ladies singing backup makes this song especially, just so smooth. Like butter.
I got to see them at Michigan State for this tour. They were so good. There’s a video on CZcams showing a full set from their tour for this album.

The Crowes are the shit! I saw them a few times...Once at a small bar with less than 100 people....they are the real deal!!!! Those backup singers, the piano...sheeeiiiit!
Fun fact...Rick Rubin fucked them out of the publishing rights to Shake your money maker" no punn with the name of the album..lol but they got soo much more into their own sound when they split from def jam
The Black Crowes & Robinson Bros...Great follow up album...my fav album out the lot although debut album instantly caught my attention...just a great tight Rockin'Roll American band.
I’m so glad you are genuinely digging their stuff! Their first album is great but definitely more mainstream. This is off their second album. Once they got their foot in the door and became popular, they started doing what they wanted. Not one album sounds like the previous.
This whole album is so good.
Their drummer, Steve Gorman, had a sports talk show (maybe still does) that was pretty good. He would occasionally tell little stories about touring and recording with the band during his show. It was cool, and the people he knew, worked with, and partied with was crazy.
Chris Robinson has one of those instantly recognizable voices, & so suited for the Black Crowes. Around 2000 Jimmy Page toured with them off & on for a couple years. Lots of songs I like, but my favorite would be High Head Blues from Amorica.

They put the jimmy page and the black crowes live at the greek album. Unfortunately, only zeppelin songs are on there as the album was released on a different label and they werent allowed to include their songs on the album. Live though, it was amazing seeing jimmy page tear along with some crowes material. Ten years gone off that live album is must listen. Zep rarely played it live because of the amount of guitar parts, it was hard to play. With the crowes he had 3 guitar players so it was epic to hear it live.
This is one of my favorite songs by them, i love the break down in the middle of the song.

There's only 861 views as of this comment on this reaction because the casual fan just isn't familiar with TBC's deeper cuts like this song. While their radio hits are fantastic, their deeper cuts are what allowed them have the cult-like following that they still have. I would encourage a much deeper dive into some of the lesser known gems. If you want to go to church and have a "Sunday night service" with the Black Crowes, Check out these songs
