I was a field supervisor for an energy company in Central-Alberta, Canada. Our industry was basically copied by the Russians. Infact, in the early 90s a lot of our equipment "disappeared" in Russia upon arrival....anyways.
Refining oil is a long process and there are many other processes depending on what the end product is going to be. So one refinery may be responsible for 10% of "oil & gas" production...but it may be responsible for 90% of the final product ready for sale in a region.
Plus oil and gas are not "oil and petrol", its crude oil, and natural gas.
A lot of processes are also to convert the raw product into stable products to be transported.
So if the Ukrainian Military is hitting specific sites, you can be damn sure they are meticulously determining the best ones to hit
Especially if its 600+km away from the boarder...
can you you speak to what was said about heat from fires at refineries traveling large distances through the complex via copper electric wire causing severe damage to electric components throughout given complex? thanks for any info/opinions.

@@bobbytookalook Fair enough, but there have been USAF pilots with only 200 flight hours land a C-17 with multiple engines out from a bird strike. Likely a combination of many things... the ole swiss cheese model in effect.
There are no more important targets than refineries. They cost between $ 10 -20 billion and cannot be repaired.
And every day they are not working is a loss of millions of dollars to Russia.
Especially if you can hit the control center. Very hard to replace all the gauges, wires and computers.
Consider what Hurricane Katrina did to the refining capabilities of New Orleans, and how long and how costly it has been to resurrect those facilities. Granted, an explosion in one refinery isn't the same as a hurricane's damage to several, but the idea is the same, i.e., it's going to take a while (maybe years) to get that refinery back on-line.

The Russian FOUR engine aircraft going down due to a bird being ingested into ONE engine shows how well these pilots are trained. Read this with a bit of sarcasm.
Either that, or the plane was already in a bad state due to poor maintenance / lack of parts / general corruption and vranyo.
I was thinking same. 4 engine aircraft should safely fly and land with 3 engines. Option is that as the engine ripped away, it also damaged fuel lines (second engine on same wing shut down) and/or damaged hydraulic lines and plane come uncontrollable. That would require that two separate hydraulic lines are put such a way that both could be damaged simultaneously. But that's a plane from Russia, it wouldn't be surprise if backup hyrdaulics were empty already as someone needed new bottle of vodka and some oil for the Lada...
If losing engine caused second engine to die on same side - it will cause massive torque and plane tries to turn side where dead engines are, in this case to right as seen on video. And if pilot is not aware or capable (or trained, russia...) then it will be the spiral of death to the gound.

"Occupiers" is not hate speech in the U.S.! It is a factual description of the Russian Federation's actions in Ukraine. "Orcs" may be debatable, but not "occupiers". I hate it when misrepresentation like that occurs. I suspect that the cancellation/termination was an action in search of a reason!

The Taurus was co-developed by Sweden and the first uses of them was on the JAS 39 Gripen, I think we swedes as co-developer of it should have the rights to purchase some into swedish airforce right? I don't know what contracts there are but it would be weird if we couldn't be able to buy some... some that we then could donate to Ukraine :)
