    Well, the german Taurus are NOT at all comparable to Storm Shadows and Sculps. The Taurus have a range of around 600 km (!) and are very powerful bunker busters.
    2-3 of them would easily blow away the kerch bridge and not make any small holes in it like Storm Shadows. The Taurus would simply crash through the road and then shatter the bridge piers underneath 🤣

    • @Afterthoughtbtw
      @Afterthoughtbtw Před 8 měsíci +5

      ... You ought to do some research and discover why the Storm Shadows make 'small holes' on a Bridge. For the exact same reason, the Taurus would too. Unless the attack hits one of the supports, the missiles go through the tarmac as if it wasn't there, and then hit the water which dissipates any explosion and protects the bridge. If Storm Shadows hit something sturdy enough, you'd get the big boom, and bye bye bridge.
      Although, I'm not entirely sure why anyone would send Storm Shadows at Kherson Bridge. Kerch Bridge, maybe - but no-one has sent a Storm Shadow at that bridge yet, as far as I have heard. Ukraine clearly aren't planning to target it seriously until it will create maximum impact. Probably waiting until they have fire control over the land supply route to Crimea first, I'd guess.

    Hi Artur, great video as always! So, as an engineer, I can’t tell you that the Russian boat did not have a jammer. However, one can just as easily (actually almost assuredly) loose signal due to loss of line of sight (LOS) to the control transceiver. Flat terrain (Ukraine) is actually a poor terrain to operate low altitude drones because the signal requires direct LOS and a low altitude drone looses LOS much quicker than you might expect. Also, down low the trees will obstruct the signal and you also loose signal from multi path fading. If the Ukrainians were to use another high flying drone as a relay, they could get really clean signal all the way to the end. You might suggest that to you contacts, although the Ukrainians are pretty smart and I’d be surprised if they were not already working on or even deploying such relays. But all the interference I see of attacking drones I attribute to LOS loss, not to jammers. If a drone were high flying and then lost signal, then that I might attribute to jamming, although it might just getting to its maximum range as well.

    • @Comm.DavidPorter

      "... one can just as easily (actually almost assuredly) LOSE signal...." I realize that the spelling of this English verb "lose" [pronounced "luz" so as to rhyme with "booze"] does not comport with the pronunciation. It's just one of those counterintuitive things.

    Poland and Romania both have ATACMs and have had them since summer of last year. Has there been any effort to get ATACMS from either of these countries? South Korea has the capacity to build their own ATACMS as well.
    Why not ask the U.S. for Tomahawks instead of ATACMs anyway? ATACMS is not a long range system. I honestly don't know why Ukraine wants something that isn't any better than what they have with Stormshadow. Especially when the carrier aircraft range is combined with Stormshadow range the total range is more than any ground launched ATACMS. Tomahawk drones are the actual long range weapons Ukraine needs to match the Russian weapons and attack those bombers bases. Their range can be as high as 2500 km and are a lot less likely to be intercepted by S 400s. Blinken said it was up to Ukraine to decide what they attacked.
    Germany should send their missiles first. They are the one of the NATO countries that have not kept their defense spending in line with their GDP unlike the U.S and others.. That might have more to do with why the U.S. appears to drag its feet than people realize.

    • @alka7145
      @alka7145 Před 8 měsíci

      Pretty sure those countries can't export their ATACMS without the US's permission. I agree the Germans should step up - they've done well so far but can do more. They don't need to keep waiting for cover from the US, they have to lead.

      All the NATO countries slacked off on their responsibilities especially after 1990. Germany was one of the worst slackers. Problem is the NATO countries always relied upon the US and it nuke force to prevent aggression. Well its pretty obvious the US is not going to rely on nukes except in the most catastrophic of situations.
      Without nukes there is no way the US can defend Europe with conventional force. Frankly its Europe's responsibility to defend itself. If they don't care enough to prepare, then I don't see the US people getting excited about rushing to "protect" Europe and lose many thousands of US troops.
      I give the Japanese credit for ringing their own people's alarm bells and aggressively start expanding and modernizing all branches of their armed forces. They were awake and not sleepwalking, and not ignoring the looming death machine next to them.

Can you add that to your campaign for those of us who cannot quite embrace the lethality of the drones 2) Since there are a lot of deaths recently, here are some alternative English euphemisms: They're 6 feet under. They're pushing up daises (or sunflowers if you wish). They cashed in their chips. They joined the eternal choir. They met their Maker. They gave up the ghost. They ended their earthly career.

    While I am convinced that the reasons that the US was reluctant to send long-range ordinance (read: escalation and all that that entails) have passed and are no longer a factor, what has come up in its place is the bellicose behavior and actions of China regarding Taiwan (Taiwan *IS* a sovereign nation)
    While the Taiwan issue is not new, China's ratcheting up on its rhetoric and behavior is a fairly recent development and the harsh reality is that if China does decide to get froggy, the US is going to need that long-range ordinance to defend its interests in the region. It's not that the US doesn't want to hand over this equipment outright, but rather they don't want to hand it over and be left short should the need for it arise.
    I suspect that should production of that equipment get the green light to ramp up, older stuff that needs to be used first (as ordinance does have a "best used by date") will be delivered.

    Seeing that last clip reminds me of the aftermath of WWII where Germans were purged or forcibly evicted from lands all over Europe. The Nazis made everyone hate Germans and German culture so much, that to this day Germans have never recovered. The Nazis did more to destroy German culture than anyone else. And similarly, Putin and his regime have done more to destroy Russian culture than anyone else. With the losses in Ukraine and Azerbaijan attacking Armenia with impunity, it's a matter of time before Georgia decides it might want to try its luck retaking Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
