I would love to hear your thoughts on the Signature Elite series from Polk that sits in between the XT and the Reserves. If the XTs are 50-60% of the R700, I'm wondering if the ES60 get you closer to that 80-90% at a much more accessible price.

Sorry for your loss - wow, 94! I lost my mother at 74. It doesn't make loss any easier but at least you enjoyed her company for as long as possible. Sometimes it's easier to focus on the positives and her life and time you spent with her and the time she had to watch you grow and become the person you are today.
I lost my Granny at 96 almost 15 years ago. And I think about her everyday. My grandparents hung the moon as far as I am concerned. And you will get to the point where all you will do is smile when you think of her. All the best!

Kristi sorry for you loss! Some of my fondest memories as a child come from spending summers with my grandparents. They were some of then nicest people in my life with a pure and wholesome impact/influence on my childhood. I baked with my grandma played golf with my grandpa. Learned card games they had social parties and church on sundays. The kindness and loss was pure genuine and perhaps some of the "realest" moments of my life. They were of a much different era and were just different types of people my parents or people of the current generation. There is something I miss so dearly of them and I could imagine perhaps you have similar memories with yours.
So sorry about your grandmother I want to give you my condolences to you and Andrew. Thank you guys for all you do. We love and send our prayers to you.

It's always a good reminder to pay tribute to the ones we love and to not waste time to love them while we are with them. My 91 year old friend is calling me everyday perhaps because he feels he'll join his wife soon so it's all good if he needs to call me everyday once or twice a day, life is that precious.
As for the review thanks for reminding me that I'll probably never be able to downsize my loudspeakers, I can't use a sub in this old house or maybe it would help keep the mice away. Hope you'll get the klh model 7's this year! Blessings.

Kristi, I always look forward to your segment of a review and it was great to hear you on. You are right in that a loss is a loss regardless of age. The beauty of the mind is that while we may not be able to time travel, we can recall and live in those moments through memory. Smells always get me and then I can literally hear those moments in time and visualize them in my head. We can also pay forward the greatest attributes of those people. Thanks for being open hearted to all of us here.

Around last Spring I picked up the Polk XT70’s to replace my 20 year old Polk R40’s. They sound way better. I picked up the whole XT line and it’s been great. The XT20’s, XT30, and XT90’s. Kept my older sub though. Lastly, sorry about your grandmother Kristi. We all love you both! Take care.

I’ve been reading fantastic reviews over the years for the Polk T50 tower speakers. I own vintage polks. The Polk monitor 5 and 4a built like battleships during the heyday of Polk when Matt Polk ran the company and everything was made in Baltimore USA!!!!!

I think there might be more "fun factor" involved in finding a really good, low cost speaker, than there is with something more expensive that you know will sound good - and expect to sound good because of the price. I had a set of the little T50 polk floor standers for a long time and absolutely LOVED them because I didn't pay very much for them and they greatly exceeded my expectations, the low cost and great sound (relatively speaking, of course) that I heard from them just put a smile on my face every time! I LOVE reviews like these where you find the little inexpensive 'gems' out there. So much fun. Also, what a great community of people we have here, always impressed - whether it's a fund raiser for a relief effort, or simply expressing condolences and love to one of our cherished members. Great community! Kristi (and Andrew), we love you! Also, thanks to Kristi for getting right to the point of the XTs vs the R700s, lol! You know us all too well! Thanks for all you both do!

I upgraded my front three to the Polk XT lineup last summer. I got the XT70s and the XT30 center. They sound pretty good to me, especially if you put a little power to them. I have a 5.1.4 system and these are being powered by an Emotiva amp while the receiver powers the height channels.
Don’t even know why I watch this, I like “hifi” but just love your opinion, totally down to earth and great partnership with your wife. God bless

I've had these for about 6 months, got them for 135 each on sale! Can't beat something like that for that price. They're in a large room (4 thousand cubic ft.) And perform great! Obv subwoofer needed but they do have an insane amount of bass for the size. To compare, I had the sscs5 up front and they're very comparable in terms of sound quality. They don't have the magic highs that those provided but are a well balanced unit which is all I really needed.
All I can say is Kristi it was great to hear your voice. You had this 40 year old man in 😢. This community loves you dearly and you both know where I stand with the both of you! Great review as always 👏🏽 Andrew thank you again that ending is always appreciated 😉!

Finally catching up on some of your videos. It’s great to hear that the R700 is holding its own. Still in love with mine and still itching to get emotiva amps but haven’t pulled the trigger. No surprise that these Polk siblings are excellent speakers in their own right.
Thank you for reviewing towers that cost less than a Reagan-class aircraft carrier. These look great for the price and build. I would've preferred to see the largest tower in this series, but that's me. Elac, Fluance, and Emotiva also have offerings to be considered. Much love to you both. Sorry for your loss. I paired the XT60 with Klipsch R50M (on nearby library shelf). My Yamaha receiver is pushing 200 watts and my Onkyo CD 6-CD changer are in a well-vented rack enclosure. This is my "audio test bed" for my recording studio output. It offers me great mid-range performance sans sub-woofer to approximate car audio listening with factory equipment. It also makes a pretty good reference system to check audio mixes. In all, I put under 1.5k into this test bed setup, but I enjoy listening to all sorts of music on this system. Can't beat the price.
I've been a Polk fan for a while and have had a pair of Monitor 70's for about 12 years and my friends with newer Klipsch speaker always marvel at how good they sound. Matched with a Good Amplifier with at least 150W per Channel, they come alive and punch above their price class.
We love you, Kristi! I miss my grandmother, too. She was probably my favorite person in my family.

If you're shopping for a budget system (like I was) take this advice... SPEND MONEY ON THE SUB AND CENTER. You won't regret it. $900 sub with $900 towers and center is a great ratio and you're going to love the SVS. The center handles all your dialog and center screen action so you're using it 99% of the time during movies.
That’s a great point about towers not needing stands compared to bookshelf speakers.

1st: Sorry for your loss. Lost my mom recently and it is never easy. Be well. 2nd: Yikes. The XT70 cost double my Jamo S809s which perform (and look) comparably good. Next time I do a major speaker upgrade, I'm looking at the Polk ES 60 or equivalent.

Question, What receiver would you recommend to push the Polk's or the JBL's for that matter to their absolute limits? Most receivers I am looking at only offer 70-90 watts per channel give or take. Would a two channel crown amplifier be a good fit for a loud two way set up?
