The Fluance Signature towers are my pick they are phenomenal for the $799 per pair price tag (and even more impressive if you score a amazon warehouse deal. Best set of towers I've heard both used a new for the cost.

Emotiva Airmotiv series. My Primary setup has Revel F208's. Extremely linear measuring, wide dispersion, fantastic sounding speakers. My secondary setup I rotate speakers pretty regularly. The Emotiva T1's have been the most surprising to me for their modest asking price. I actually have been using the T1's through the majority of the quarantine, and that's saying something!

I have a pair of the Onkyo SKF 4800’s. I think that for the $300 price tag they are amazing. Very warm sounding with plenty of bass. Steve Guttenberg, the Audiophiliac himself reviewed them in 2013 for CNET. I don’t feel they get enough love. The matching center and surround speakers are unfortunately not sold in the US.

Here in Denmark, Jamo was always concidered to be cheap junk - the speakers for those who didn't care about audio. But that's many years ago.
I didn't know they even existed anymore, or that they even made great speakers.

I'm on a quest to build a home theater system on a budget. These speakers for $1,000 is perfect! Problem is that they are now $689 each 😞. Same thing happened with the Pioneers I was looking at. You reviewed them at $99 each, and when I go look them up to buy them the price had increased to $179.99 each. It looks like the products you give very high praise to gets the price bumped up due to an increase in sales. Your reviews affect the industry my friend. I'm not complaining, well maybe I am a little lol. Keep it up brother!

Thanks to this review, I was looking for a new speaker to upgrade from my 10 year old Jamo C-807's to the next level. Your Monitor audio Silver comparison is bang on. Not having the ability to audition due to where i live, I wanted to retain Jamo's concert series signature sound plus take it to the next level. I ended in ordering the Monitor audio Gold 300 5g, and it does just that. Couldn't be more happier.

Yes! Floorstanding versus bookshelves! I've been debating recently whether it's really necessary for me to continue to use my floorstanding Paradigms, or if I should move to a set of bookshelf speakers now that I've significantly upgraded my subwoofer setup. All my speakers are set to "small" with an 80 Hz crossover anyway!

As a new subscriber I must say I really enjoy your presentation style Andrew. Smooth, relaxed, knowledgeable and all without 5 infuriating jump cuts per sentence! I'm just wondering if you could expand on 5:40 a little. I always thought the idea of Hi *Fi* was to get as close to the artist's vision as possible, i.e. reproduce the master tape faithfully. Hi *fidelity* - being *true* to the master. The fact designers introduce their own sound seems to fly in the face of this. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have time : - )

  • @jjjcmo
    @jjjcmo Před 3 lety +1

I recently purchased a pair of these Jamo’s and I have not been disappointed. They replaced my beloved 43 year old original Advent Loudspeakers, which are still working great. But difference between the old and new speakers is quite noticeable. Voices have more immediacy and live performances now sound “live”, as opposed to sounding like recordings of live performances. Bass IS improved if the towers can be placed in corners of the room. As Andrew says, the Jamo’s will play well with all levels of amplifiers, but where they really shine is making budget and/or mid range equipment sound better!

I got me some Jamo S 626 speakers and I absolutely love them. The S 622 speakers paired as rear channels is a massive upgrade for my room. honestly I feel like that audiolab 8300A amp I mentioned really made the high end sound better on my jamo speakers and those look like the same tweeters, and it packs so much punch in the base on the 8" side firing woofers. I love the side firing woofer design, it's hard to find I feel like.

I bought the C97-II in 2021 after watching Andrew's review & paired it up with Audiolab 6000a recommended by Tarun (Kristi said the Audiolab can un-suck most speakers, I tend to agree). The Audiolab amp produced full range, seamless, coherent, presence sound as Andrew mentioned. In addition, the bass extension is improved. The treble can be sibilant only if the recording is that way, otherwise the silk dome tweeter is revealing. So, no more chasing down a rabbit hole for a while. Still keeping my old Boston CR8 and Yamaha RXV385 receiver in other room.

Hi Andrew. Its a geat channel you got. I would love for you to dive into a discussion about KEF´s UNIQ road compared to other conventional speaker configurations. Why does not more speaker companies try to get a "single point source" array. Are there too many drawbacks and tough design issues? One thing I also would love to hear a discussion about is the use of side-firing or even backfiring woofer configurations such as the BLADE I/II and Verity speakers.

Another great vid Andrew!! Anybody remember "Vivid" loudspeakers? They saturated my country cable channels with TV ads back in the mid 80's. Their slogan was "Vivid...Blows the competition away" The guy in the ads sounded like a british dracula. Lmao.

Hi! First of all, I new on the channel and I have to say that it's really amazing! I just started to study about home theaters, and your channel is an awesome source of knowledge, and more importantly than that: you explain in a way that people with no background can understand - you guys are doing a great job.
I have a question about a combination with the C97 II. Would it be a good idea to assemble a 5.1 home theater based on the following items:
    - C97's loudspeakers
    - C9 CEN II Center speaker
    - C 9 SUR II Surrounds
    - Dolby Atmos ATM 50
    - One C 910 SUB Subwoofer
    - Sony STR-DN1080
Maybe this could even be an idea for a full-fledged video 😁
Thanks and keep up with the amazing work!

And this review articulates perfectly how I feel about my pair. When I was shopping, my budget was $2000. When it was all said and done, I kept coming back to these which cost me $500 for the pair. Been very happy. Both for Music and Movies. The only thing I don’t agree with is that, I really don’t feel the need for sub. But it can’t hurt to have it.

Just received a pair. Definitely a nice budget floor stander. Not broken in yet but it's been a fun speaker so far. I thought these were going to be fatiguing like the studio line's tweeters. This was definitely not the case in my experience. And the bass, while not the most defined is definitely there. It extends quite well for the dual six's which was a surprise. It's definitely a colored sound but relaxed. They sound better with the grills off but when they are on I compensate with a touch of treble. The soundstage is nice and wide as well. I also purchased the C9 center channel and it blends well with panning and timbre. I think these will be great for an everyday home theater/music experience. I do recommend getting them away from the wall. In my house the bass tends to get a little thick but every room has its own effect. That being said I think anyone would enjoy these. And the price I got them for through Slickdeals and Adorama was quite the steal. Thanks Andrew for exposing these Jamo towers to the masses

The acknowledge of feels & looks, when we talking HI-FI is often understated? Who doesen't love the feel of a nice volume knob, or the nice finish on a speaker design? It all matters in the end, and i'm pretty sure this counts for all of us? But after you implemented the fairly new rack in your livingroom, i wonder if the length of the rack is limiting you, in terms of speaker placement and space between the speakers? If you wanted to put a pair of speakers closer to each other, don't you then have a problem? Me myself use to have a pretty long rack, and found it to be a problem with various speaker set-up, as i couldn't always get the right distance between them? So it's just an observation over time, i would like you to address :-) Cheers from Denmark (stay safe).

Thank you very much Andrew for your review. I have been watching your videos for a long time, and also I have just found out about this series of Jamo.
Personally I have some experience with an older model of this brand, and you described exactly my experience with my old ones, and you were listening to the new ones. Your description is exactly like my experience, the only difference being made by the mids driver, which in my case was from a 2.5way floorstanding with bigger drivers compared to the new model. It's absolutely incredible, INCREDIBLE sound and I can tell you it's comparable with a higher end models of speakers in my home.
    Thank you again, Andrew!
And keep up the good work.

Thank you for your excellent review of the JAMO C97ii. Since you have lived with this speaker for a while I would very much like to know your impression of the C95ii and how the two floorstanders compare. I find your reviews smart and practical. That’s why I would particularly value your comparison.

When speaking of playing loud, my A-S1100 is set to show watt used when playing, and my speakers are 97dB/watt
which means that i rarely play over 1 watt on my amp, and that is for me - very loud, almost too loud.
I've always taken great care of protecting my hearing because 1, i love music, and 2, once you lose hearing, it never comes back.

Hi Andrew I'm a fan and it's pleasure to always watch you talk. Yor choice of words, honesty and eloquence is yet to be matched. Thanks for Sharing the knowledge. My question is, ported speaker vs passive radiator speaker, which one do you think will sound better or lets say output. Thanks

    • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  Před 4 lety +1

They both have their pros and cons. I think ported speakers are still more common so you’re likely to see more of them or have more to choose from. Which is best lies with the speaker design/designer and your personal tastes.

I hope that tweeter is a little more refined than the one in my c809 - it's a bit messy/"grainy" at almost any volume. I actually added a coating to the rear side of the dome, and it helped calm that down a little. Sounds more soft like a Dynaudio now.

I have a pair of C97. They are a nice speaker and a lot of fun to listen to, although, they do have something nasty going on in the high treble. At a certain frequency, there seems to be some distortion. It only raises its ugly head on a few tracks I play. For example, Barber's Adagio for Strings, Op. 11 where the violin section plays a long high note, there seems to be some 'crackling' going on in the tweeter. Otherwise they are a nice sounding speaker. They certainly present a V curve but that seems to be the norm these days.
