Let's not forget that the 2000 Ferrari wasn't the best car that year,it was just that bit closer to the McLaren to enable Schuey to make up the difference.
My all time favourite f1 moment... I remember setting the alarm to watch it live and I’ll never forget the feeling of when schumi crossed the finishing line... legend
Something to never forget, I started watching in 2003 , but same kind of memory, staying up till 2am to watch the start of the Australian gp with my brother
Schumacher my favourite F1 driver of all time. He changed the game of F1 for sure. What he and Ferrari achieved became the benchmark. The hard work, blood, sweat and tears. Years of failing and coming so close to finally winning it and dominating for years to come. This man could definitely make the difference where others couldn’t. Back then you had to mostly rely on solving your own problems by just getting out on track and doing it. Nowadays you can rely on sim work and lots of fancy data to help you solve problems. Yes sim and data was around during Michael’s time but it wasn’t as good as it is today. Mostly the sim data wasn’t. Today there is a lot more help available to drivers. Less testing nowadays but during Michael’s day testing was paramount and boy did he love to test more than anyone else.
A lot of people claim that Brazil 2008 was the greatest title decider, for me it will always be this race. Two drivers simply kicking the shit out of each other, no random Toyota, no luck, just the two best drivers ever in Formula One pushing each other to a whole another level. This is racing, you cant find a single hint of bullshit here.
Was extra emotional knowing how many times he got so close and lost at the final hurdle. Lost to Villeneuve at the last race in 1997, car stalled on the grid and retired with a puncture in 1998, broke his leg in 1999 and always remained optimistic and gracious, finally winning in 2000.
I got up early to watch this race. It was brilliant. Two world champions slugging it out. It was a great moment for a Schumacher fan. Afterwards Schumacher joked that Hakkinen should have backed off and made the last few laps easier!
This will forever be my favourite race. I was so emotional seeing Michael finally do it. Commentary brilliance from Murray Walker, James Allen and Martin Brundle.
I love that I grew up in the eras of Senna and Schumacher. They will always be better than Hamilton. Senna and Schumacher did amazing things even in inferior cars, Hamilton has been handed cheating cars that were leagues ahead of everything else. Great driver, but nothing like those two and he knows it deep down.
Well thankfully for Lewis he beat Alonso in his rookie year, he can always use that as the greatest of bragging rights in f1. Beating the reigning world champion that took down The Michael/Ferrari two years straight, then a rookie beats him. Hamilton doesn’t have the image of a racer, which is largely why people don’t like him (especially newer fans). However, he is probably the most naturally gifted driver in history along with Senna, Schumi, Clark, Fangio. He’s never had a season that was truly bad, in any category of Motorsport he’s been in. Undeniably one of the greats.
@@2jzandys444 Hamilton TIED Alonso in points, but that was impressive for a rookie. Ok, he had the tiebreakers but he was also favored within the team by Ron Dennis. Hamilton has also been beaten during the course of a season by second tier teammates (Button, Rosberg). In fact, Rosberg wasn't very far behind in 2014, 2015 in the WDC standings strongly suggesting the car was absolutely dominant and Lewis wasn't that much better. During Schumacher's first stint, his teammates at Benneton and Ferrari were never even close. Rosberg got the better of him at Mercedes in his second stint but Schumacher was very old by then.
@@evodude919 you cant really compare schumis teammates with hamiltons. Alonso, button, rosberg are all world champions. Heikki was way worse. Bottas is a great driver, see in 2014 and 2017
i totally agree. taking nothing away from lewis or mercedes’..but they had such an unfair advantage, which makes racing pointless, and it did for those seasons.

Yeah.
DC beat Rubens in every metric.
Ferrari was slower and both cars were equally reliable.
Basically, Schumacher made the difference
@@commenttorv5572 spot on, well said!!
@@commenttorv5572 plus the McLaren was easier on the tyres.
Great drivers can win races in inferior cars. Schumi could win a Championship in one. That's what sets him apart.

"A Br-ra-rilliant race for Michael Schumacher"
RIP Murray😔
For years I wondered what he said there.
Then I learnt that Murray was losing his marbles with Schumacher/Ferrari winning, too.
What does that mean?

I also set my alarm for this. I was 10 years old when I watched this. I’ll never forget it!
It’s my favourite moment in f1 too, I remember watching it live. So emotional, after so many years trying to win a championship with Ferrari.
"Jean Todd, the little frenchman". Murray always made me chuckle. RIP

Best rivalry in F1, Schumacher and Hakkinen.

What a guy! What a car! Best driver in the world. And good job my hakkinen. He deserves ever one of those 7 stars on his helmet.
