The fact that an ADV comes stock with less than 20 litres of fuel is crazy. Manufacturers are super stingey nowadays across the range. Our bikes should not be better on spec sheets but worse in real life.
@HightyRoss Motovlog Our bikes built for Australia are built in Japan.
The OCD in me would prompt me to clean up all that hidden dirt before installing the new tank 😊. As a former submariner I live by the “Work it may, clean it must” principle - a sick mind I am! Impressive setup and based on your previous journeys I can see why the enhanced range is important.
Thanks.
Watching this on a Friday evening, nice to hang out in the workshop with you guys :-)
Love the extra range. Top class lads.
Thanks 👍
you blokes sure can ride a bike !! your videos are a joy to watch and have great info
Glad you like them!
Great video, guys 👍Fuel range is so important. I had a 26L Safari Tank on my Husqvarna, and now I've got a Camel Tank on my 990. And hey Clubby, nice Crocs!
Right on!
Another fantastic video, thanks guys. I have absolutely fallen in love with this channel.
Just bought a brand new T7 here in the U.K. - it would be great to get an update video to hear how you are getting on with all of the mods you have done to the bike 🤞
Our pleasure! More coming soon.
Having worked on bikes for many years now, I believe every person on the assembly line has their own style of fastener.
Wouldn't surprise me.
Bloody brilliant lads. Cheers
Thanks Dave.
Thanks Dave, very interesting
I thought people would be interested.
Good to see you doing the instal video MAD...Could hear Chubby alot clearer too this time around :-)
Thanks 👍
Good morning people! Nice way to start the day in this parte of the world🇵🇹!
Morning!
The Camel-Adv auxiliary fuel tank is perfect for me, lots of people don’t even notice it’s there!
Yes, they miss it. hat's a great solution for a number of reasons.
Great video, it's touring time.... those bolts n clips are all about where u old ya tongue I reckon. Take it easy boys
Thanks 👍
Great how to video.
I put down a deposit on a T700 at the LA outdoor motorcycle show at the OC fairgrounds. Yamaha people apologies that their are no bikes in the states to sell. Won't mess around and put heavier spring on asap.
I check pricing here in the states for that tank $800.00+. I forgot how the process to make that style tank goes, rotational or blown molding but would be nice if their were baffles inside to stop the gas from sloshing around for when you only need a smaller amount. They do that in airplane wing tanks.
Thanks
Sounds like good mail about the baffles mate , hope they consider this especially with that price gee-up.
dark horse look...awesome job boys!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Dave did you have Bailies and milk again see you were not on the tools. Good see your a good apprentice. Great footage an great explanations of fitting of the tank by clubby. Thanks.
Thanks
Nice one - on this side of the world the acerbis 23l is also nice. A bit rough surface makes it look almost like oem plastic tank.
ah yes.
i have the acerbis. just plain road use i can do 450 when the reserve starts flashing. [never found out how far reserve is!]
but i must say. its nice to have even bigger. tough im happy with my acerbis.
Thanks for the info!
With the Safari tank do you still use your Giant Loop Tank Bags ?
Love the banter 👍 just out of curiosity, do you have any different clearance from the OEM tank ? Also what about the breather hose ? How does it work after ? Dosent it need to breath ? Ah i see it sticking up out of the cap where is it routed to ?
Don't know
👍. What was the stock range?
I have a 2022 T7 on order here in the states. As far as I can tell the 22’s have the Euro5 emissions with the Cat closer to the engine ☹️. I’m hoping someone will come up with headers to eliminate the Cat. The Safari tank is definitely on my wish list. Thanks Dave!
A few options out there to look at.
I ordered headers from dominator in Europe. There were around $300, money well spent. Bike runs at around 180 degrees consistently now, was running way to hot before.
I fitted a complete titanium system from SP Projects, then had the bike run on the dyno. Very happy with the result.
i use my bike for the lunchtime commute and i hate stopping for fuel during lunchtime...so i always fill up as much as possible.. 😁
Ah.
G'day Dave and Clubbie, do you guys recommend the 25 litre Safari tank over the Acerbis 23 litre, or the Camel sub-tank? How does it handle now with the added extra weight up top? The Camel seems to negate this to some extent. Oh, and keep up the great work!
I don't recommend anything. It is one option that was available just before Camel was available.
Currently building a 2021 Tracer7 into an overland bike, with 19/17" wheels as i'm vertically challenged....would love a T7, but it's not possible,fully loaded!(i get a comfier seat too).
Go for it!
Thanks for video.
Question**** do you think Any issues with my msc stabilizer ? If I install this tank
I don't know
Great job, didn't know about Safari Tanks, all we see here in USA are Acerbis and they are out of stock
Sorry to hear that
How is the accuracy of the fuel sender/fuel level reading on the screen when its fitted in the safari tank?
OK. When full you stay full for ages and then when getting down you've got about 150 ks when it starts flashing.
Is there any way to remove the vent tubing that comes out of the top of the gas cap?
Don't know.
Love the range, don’t like the fuel cap and vent. The 2022 Tenere has a beautiful Blue color so the black tank would not look good. I know, I know if I’m doing my job of riding right you won’t be able to see the color through all the dirt and mud:)
Decisions, decisions.
So can imagine the fuel bar level will read ok. But anyone know if dash reading will still be true, like the mpg and fuel range. Does the computer use the fuel data from the float in tank or is it more high tech using pump flow to give us the range and average mpg.
I'm doing a full test on it next week It will be a video report.
You need really pointy fingertips to get the proper squeeze on that fuel line fitting removal. Nice work gents, now just fit Camel’s auxiliary tank out back & you’ll have 30 ltrs available! (Not sure it would siphon through that safari venting in though??)
Petrol tanker then.
Tankeré 700
Yamaha holds stock in Oxford and Safari and a yet to be named cruise company, lol. I love how every bike has upgrades because there is something too big or too small or too soft or too hard, lol.
A very good point, although not many on the 890 just an $8000 difference in price!
Why do aftermarket tanks have a breather tube but OEM tanks don't?
Breather is internal on the oem
I hope there a better quality tank than the long range tank they make for the YZ and WR l had major issues getting the fuel pump to seal to the tank dew to a uneven surface certainly no were near as good as the stock tank
Mine is great. I've had it on the bike for a couple of years. No problems.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV ok that's what you want
The YZ tank wasn't a great product even rang the Safari mob but l didn't talk to Robin box but was a team member (no real help) and l have had a 33 ltr Safari tank on my dr 650 for over 12 years and it has been a great tank not one issue over that time so hope you get the same reliability for the T7
What’s the cost, and do you know if there is an appointed UK dealer?
Look up o n the Safari Tank web site.
So now that your T7 is more expensive than an 890 Adventure R, how do they compare?
Well
My F850GSA has over 550km range on its 23L tank... I like the extended range over the regular GS... So much less to worry about.
Agree.
Remember when Japanese bikes had 4 size bolts period... Ahh the good old days 10 12 14 17, but also JIS screws... 🤔 Hmm win some lose some 🤣, love the work boots 👍
I couldn't get over how many fasteners there was.
What is that pipe sticking out of the fuel tank cap?
Breather.
vent tube
the yamaha tenere or the husqvarna 701 enduro? or in the context of this video, the lr version nugget rode to darwin?
I own both and I'm stil waiting for my LR tanks.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV yeah but which one is a better adventure/tourer in your opinion having done the darwin ride and now going on this series? looks like neither will give you any fuel anxiety with the tank mods. thanks for your response!
@@defecationzen Tough dirt the 701. Easy dirt the T700
Great video 🤙🏻 shame about the over exposure on the camera
happens sometmes when you rush. Looked ok on the ocmputer but something happened on the way to youtube.
What's the weight difference now?
1,4 kg less
Is the reserve float mechanism branded ‘caroma’ by chance? 😂
Good point. It certainly looks like a toilet flusher mechanism.
I always say to anyone who laughs at my big tank, when you run out and I still have fuel it is $100 a litre if you want to buy some.
Strongly agree Richard.
Nice tank design! but very pricey for a plastic fuel tank 875 australian or $633 dollars. If they priced them at $250-300 I think they would sell better
They are selling like hot cakes.
Awesome great for them! but for me the acerbis is half the price, not as tall, and looks better imo.
Just need to fit a decent fuel-sock now , as 50 litres is useless if it’s full of microscopic crud that those Nippon-Denso fuel pumps really don’t like
Washed out thoroughly before installation.
15:30 I don't think that's a breather hose, it's the return hose, from the injectors. You can't have a breather hose on the bottom of the tank, no?
Nope it was the breather hose. It's complicated.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV so the Tenere 700 doesn't have a return line?
Why doesn't the safari tank have a breather
If does have a breather.
Looked like it was in the fuel cap just like on a mighty DRZ400
Camel ADV aux tank is a better solution, weight is lower.
Why are there so many American comedians? It seems like every Australian dad has way better dad jokes.
good point
stock bike was a little top heavy so now will be a realy top heavy :)
If you fill it with 25 litres. The secret is to to that only when you're going to be doing big miles on easy track
ks? kilometres are km en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilometre
Not in Australia 🇦🇺
🤣🤣 not in Aust…….we shorten everything and put our slant on things…..go the Yammy
Until the Tuareg came and no one wants a Tenere anymore
Tuareg can stay in mechanic 👨🔧 shop
Love your videos but. Buy the time you've fitted the tank and sorted the suspension.
Just get a 790_890r and spend more time riding less time fucking about the t7 will never be as good as the 890r.
This a decision everyone has to make.
In the end t7 owners Will have more riding time ! We all now it 😂😂😂
Would never buy a complicated full on electronic KTM. Will never last long term. Sure it is a great bike now (least I hope sol they canceled the 790 series fast and now make that engine in Chinese bikes). And no bike has suspension sorted for you from the factory, still have to dump money into setting up every bike.
Your ktm is a lot of fun when it break down. Reliability and support the t7 everyday all day. US and Australia the same no matter where you are you can find somebody that know something about yamaha ask the about ktm and they would laugh at you talking about a city bike.
