Nice video! hope you can enjoy the Mitas 07 like I did it, when I was on a trip in Kirgistan, Tajikistan, Kasachstan, Georgia etc. They did everything I needed. Even mud. And they last long enough to bring me home safely. Wish you a lot of nice trips!

Hey Johannes, check the "old" KTM 1090R. it offers much more and in the same price level. You get TC, extra 50 HP, good suspension, 400 km~ fuel range, comfort and better overall capabilities of both highways and off-road. You can cruise in 140-150 kmh in highways all day long and ride 3-4 difficulty level off-road terrain. If it's only off-road the T7 is better with the 21" in front. this KTM has also good reliability.
Good choice of tyre. I got 26000 km on E07s on my CB500x and never found them wanting. I'll go back to them when I wear my Shinko 705s out. The sooner the better.

This set up is pretty good. Similar to what I had in mind when I get mine. There nothing but mud bogs near me and I have to ride 4+ hours to get on any trails.

Thanks Johannes! Big fuel tank, check! Cruise control? Heck yes. Tyres? I reckon the best of both worlds is to own two sets of wheels, one with dirt biased tyres and one with road biased tyres. I have aggressive knobbies on my bike at the moment. They were great on my last big dirt trip, but on the tarmac they make my bike handle like a wheelbarrow full of walruses!
Allt handlar om vad man ska ha hojjen till.ska man ut å bröta i skogen så vill man ju ha en så lätt maskin som möjligt..en touringmaskin ska va bekväm å ha bra räckvidd och utrustning..
Tycker mitas 07 funkar bra har dem på min gamla dominator😀
Nice build! I would suggest a taller windscreen for the highways in Europe.
Throttle lock is a must. Good upgrade. The Mitas e07 are great tires wont leave you in trouble. Personally testing Motoz Tractionator GPS atm I would say they are on par with the Mitaz.

I was thinking you must be getting very anxious to ride, especially knowing the trips you have planed..... Then you went ahead and said it at the end 😶 Hang in there Johannes, the wait will be worth it once those wheels are rolling. We're having a pretty mild winter so for here in southern New England, USA... That means the trails aren't frozen or snowed in and even the temps are, dare I say.. warm.... I'm getting a ride in today. 👍

Love it johannes! I just filmed a couple shorts on my channel of my current setup(in case you’re looking for options/inspiration). Still getting there. Need an atlas throttle lock and some bits and pieces still but I’m close! I am going to test it out next month when I head to the desert southwest. Maybe even get my first motocamp trip in, too. A drastic contrast because it’s currently -10F here.
Thanks man! Just checked your videos, your T7 looks absolutely killer! I ended up looking at your windscreen the most (even though you had so many cool parts on it). I just ordered the super tall windscreen from Rally Raid and the not so good looking winglets to see if that helps with the wind buffeting on the highway. Probably should have gone with an adjustable one like yours. How tall are you, and does it help? Thanks a bunch!
@@JohannesDalen thanks buddy! I’m probably a lot shorter than you. Just shy of 2m (5’11”) tall. As far as does it help? I’ll let you know in about 2-3 weeks when I finally get a chance to try it! Most of these accessories, with the exception of the skid plate and crash bars, have been put on during the winter. I’m really hoping that the altrider windscreen works. There has been some not so good reviews of it but I’m fairly certain it’ll take care of the wind buffering.

To be accurate the Atlas is not cruise control, only a throttle lock. Good channel and content.
I have just done 7000 km with Mitas EO7+ tyres on my heavily laden SuperTenere. Whilst I had planned to do as much of this as possible off sealed roads (Perth to Melbourne and return, west coast of Australia to the east coast) my time constraints suddenly changed so I made the entire trip on bitumen in warm, summer weather. I was concerned that the tyres may not have lasted but to my pleasure they have been better than I ever hoped, as they still have at least two to three thousand kilometres on them. They are now the tyre of preference to go on my T7. Are you running the Atlas throttle lock with heated grips ?
I test rode one the other day and it was as good as advertised. My only complaint: the wind buffeting at highway speeds is terrible so I would need to find a fix for that asap.
I just ordered a taller screen and "winglets" from Rally Raid - will update how that helped.
I wished Atlas would also have sponsored my throttle lock
I wish Yamaha would give it a proper cruise control.

Yeah the stock windshield wasn't great at all.
Nice video, Johannes! Just one question kept coming back: with those plans in mind and a small Husky in the garage, why not buying a proper tourer bike with all of those features, proper range, super comfy on highway with digital cruise control, better wind protection and so on? :)
Thanks Rafal! And a good question, several others have asked the same. Reason why I didn't go with a proper tourer is because I will find myself exploring pretty much every trail that I come across, wherever I may be, and for that I need a bike that can handle it. Even though my T7 is an adventure-tourer now, it's still a very capable offroad machine :D
@@JohannesDalen I see your point. If that would be your only bike then I wouldn't see an opportunity for more debate here, yet, with Husky on hands, I would still be tempted to look for Africa Twin or legendary GS to fulfill the touring + exploring needs :)

Jo, et godt poeng. En v strom 650 ville vært en bedre gatesykkel, men jeg kjenner meg selv godt, hvorhen jeg drar ender jeg opp med å utforske de minst fremkommelige veiene. En T7 er akkurat ‘god nok’ på veien, og fremdeles veldig kapabel når det blir grisete 😁 Gir det mening?
@@JohannesDalen Gir mening, men tenkte mer opp mot feks Aprilia Tuareg, KTM 890 Adventure R eller Triumph Tiger 900 Rally (selv om sistnevnte er litt tyngre). De to første er gjerne ikke er like pålitelig som T7.
Spør da jeg selv har prøvd både T7 og Aprilia, og vurderer en av disse. Kjører for det meste på vei, men ønsker å utforske det å kjøre litt offroad og TET. Av de to synes jeg T7 er best på vei, men den er ikke like raffinert som Tuareg, men litt jerky throttle og ikke minst ganske hardt sete. Så vurderer det som du sa om Tenere, den kan jo modifiseres og oppgraderes, men om det ender med å bli dyrere enn en sykkel som allerede er "ferdig"?
Jeg har ikke kjørt Triumph’en eller 890’en nylig, men Tuareg’en er en fantastisk sykkel. Bortsett fra kjent pålitelighet og motorkarakteristikk, er det en bedre sykkel enn T7 på alle måter. For min del veier pålitelighet tungt når det kommer til adventure-kjøring.
Alle adventure-sykler er kapable til å kjøre på grus, så for din del blir det vel bare å finne en du liker og synes prisen er grei på. Kanskje en T7 World Raid kunne vært noe, med sin mye bedre demping enn originalen jeg har.
Hvis du har sett noen av de andre videoene mine så vet du kanskje at når det kommer til offroad-kjøring er vekt viktigst. Det som kan/kommer til å skje er at du kjører litt grus og synes det er gøy, så vil du prøve deg på litt mer teknisk kjøring og da innser du at en 200kg+ sykkel blir en voldsom tung sykkel å lære seg det fundamentale på. Derfor jeg solgte den første T7’en min, og kjøpte en DRZ. På to uker ble jeg bedre til å kjøre enn 6 mnd med T7, fordi den var 60kg lettere.
@@JohannesDalen Takk for bra svar! Jeg tror nok ikke jeg kommer til å kjøre veldig hardcore offroad da det er langt mellom mulighetene på sør-vest landet (som jeg vet om). Skal prøve World Raid og se om den føles bedre. Har en drøm om å kjøre TET først i Norge og kanskje interessen øker etter det. Fortsett med bra innhold! :)
You could if you wanted, but you can do that type of riding better & cheaper with a Vstrom 650 no? Better road manners, better wheel size for it, high fuel capacity, better comfort, all.. at stock for like 8800 -9400 hundred bucks
Oh absolutely! I had a V Strom a few years back, fantastic road bike. But, I'm still an offroad oriented rider, and will find myself on many technical sections on my trips, and the T7 is much better suited for that than an offroad-oriented V Strom.

That gas tank is really cool, I need it on my black T7.
I think it looks really cool too, and besides the somewhat high price, I think a plastic tank is better in every way. Much lighter, bigger capacity if needed, shields the wind, and it doesn't seem to alter the bikes handling too much.
Heavy, light, heavy, light. For normal people it’s an expensive way to learn the hard way by selling and buying bikes every year.
For those who still don’t know. Unicorns don’t exist.
Everybody wants to think they are Pol Tarres and can ride a T7 like an exc.
Putting bigger fuel tank on an already top heavy bike is not ideal.
Also, trying to build a stock bike to a dream bike is very expensive. And because the weight probably was the problem in the first place you don’t get your “dream” bike.
The best thing you have done so far Johannes was buying an enduro for training to be a better technical rider.

It means a lot to me, I've never been to California, but I've always had this dream about living there. My idols growing up (Arnold amongst a few others) lived there and I just loved the thought of it.
Spent time in California. Spent time in Norway. I’d pick Norway every single time. What an amazing country. I don’t think you’re missing anything.
