2011 - 2016 F250 Lariat Instrument Cluster Upgrade How To Swap
Vložit

- In this video I will show you how to upgrade your 2011 - 2016 F250, F350 or F450 XL and XLT instrument cluster to the full color screen Lariat type instrument cluster. This applies to the 6.2 gas and 6.7 diesel engines. In my case, I chose to keep the black bezel because I prefer the look over the silver one. This swap requires module programming either via Ford IDS software or the free downloadable Forscan program along with a MS CAN capable OBDII device.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO DO THIS SWAP!!! READ!!
If you own a 2013-2016 Superduty that has the AM/FM ONLY (No CD) stereo you MUST use a 2011-2012 cluster as your truck lacks the required Audio Control Module and Sync module your cluster needs to talk to, If you buy an 13-16 cluster and try to put it in you will get the 10 SECOND CONSTANT RESTART.
If you own a 13-16 with the AM/FM/CD player, you must use a 2013-2016 cluster, if not your AUDIO SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK, because even if you dont have a "SYNC" the radio, the truck, stereo and still contain all the sync and ACM components.
Found this out the hard way, my 14 had the FM/AM only stereo, and with a 14 cluster it would constantly restart the cluster, even with FORScan it cannot change the way the cluster operates as far as seeing the ACM, the ACM is the 13-16s clusters way of connecting to the medium speed data bus.
11-12 trucks all were built without the ACM, so the cluster was programmed from the factory to use the CAN bus to communicate to the PCM, and therefor lacks all ACM/medium speed bus connections
What a great comment. I'm sure this will help many owners. Thank you.
Andrew Beeman. I also have a 2014 and have done the same thing but mine has a AM/FM/CD stereo. Only I did this 3 time😂. 1st with a 2015 cluster. 10 second reset. 2nd with the same year 2014 cluster. 10 second reset. 3rd time with a 2012 cluster and works awesome😁. Sooo just get a 2011-2012 for your 2013-2016 and follow the video
So what if i have a 16 am/fm/cd/sync i alredy bought a lariat cluster from a 14 and i did not work
clave nueva You have to get a 2011 or a 2012. That’s the only way this swap will work. Don’t waste your time trying to figure it out because I did. Drove my wife crazy😂. So I found a 2012 with 53,XXX on eBay for $98. Installed the cluster for a day with no issues and sent it to get the mileage adjusted.
@@Everybodys-gonna-price thanks alot i will buy one and sell the one i have relly appreciated
Thank you for this video. I have a 2014 F250 XL with power windows/locks, am/fm/cd with Sync. I ordered a 2014 Lariat cluster and it did the 10 second reset thing. I then found and purchased a 2011 Lariat cluster and bingo it works. Thanks again for posting this video!
Love the superduty videos. You've been a big help. Thanks
Just completed this swap with my 2013 F550 XL and all works great. Truck has Sync with cd player. Used a 2012 cluster part number CC3T-10849. The steering wheel cruise control buttons part number is SW6770. My truck has floor shift lever for 4x4 and that indicates just fine too. Thanks to this video!!
THIS WAS SOOOOO EASY to do on my 13 XLT, THANK YOU! Just like you said, I found a 12 Lariat cluster and followed you instructions. Took 30 minutes Total along with replacing my worn out foam steering wheel with a Lariat Leather used wheel. Controls that came with the new wheel worked was exactly what it needed. GREAT UPGRADE! Also going to comment on the remote start with just a 4 button replacement key (that didn't come with the truck) and no antenna and simply changing remote start to enable and it worked like you said. SO easy. Thank you!!!!!
Glad it helped!
@brettmclean3113 where did you get the cluster? I'm trying to find one as well
Whew that was intense. Makes me wish I just had a lariat instead of my xl haha
Great video! I used this video to install a lariat dash on my 2012 6.7. Only question I have is under gauges isn't there supposed to be a mph setting? Obviously the old one didn't have one but were you able to figure out how to enable it?
What year was your truck and what was the code of cluster that you installed into it
are there any certain other model or years, and is there any way to make another gauge cluster work in a 2011 ranger? Its 5 speed so theres no gear selector to worry about...I like some of the mustang and the f250 style clusters like this one your working on. A few of them from some mustangs and others actually even look like they'll fit......like they're the same shape. Thats why I'm asking...Id really love to change them to somthing else.
I have 2012 ford f250 xl car so i want to upgrade if i can install it to you?
👍 Great Video, lots of good information. Doing the upgrade next week...
Installed today took all of 30 minutes, great directions..
I have 2015 f350 6.2l I want to upgrade like the one it's showing.. what
i have to do?
i don't have a computer to upgrade.
my truck has the tow brake inside
Hello just seeing this video i have 2014 ford 6.7 xlt and would be sweet to have the nice cluster instruments in the middle i would take the factory lariat and just install that now i can do the hole take out put in its the soft ware part like where do you get the soft ware and how does that part work to change everything you did when you had the problems because my truck has the trailer brake i think what it doesnt have is the back up cam has tps and pretty much everything you said but i would love to do this but dont know how the soft ware part work
About to do a similar job on my 2016 Fusion. Hopeful it'll go as smoothly.
Hit you up about the spreadsheet on your other vid thanx again for reply. On the cluster how hard u think would be to just swap the screen out? Did you notice while swapping bezel by chance?
Do you mean just swapping the lcd with another lcd of the same size? If so, im not sure. I didnt disassemble it enough to be able to tell.
What ODBC reader did you use?
Any idea what the model number is for the gas lariat guage cluster is?
I have a 2006 Ford F-150 Lariat & when I changed my Instrument Cluster the truck would not start. I had to drive the truck (with the old cluster installed) to the dealer & they had to "Marry" the new cluster with/to the ECM & I also got a new key. Apparently, they changed the system in 2011. Does anyone know of a way around paying the Ford dealer next time for the older trucks Also, does anyone know what type of system they have on the 2017 & newer trucks??? Thanks!!!
Hello i did all steps you did for the instrument cluster swap, and i cant save the old ip settings. i click on play, then name the file then hit save and it will not save. i did it for both ips and it would not save either time???
My steering angles disappeared how to I Bring that back up in forscan. I did have it before
Very nice video. What if I don’t reflash the cluster and just plug and play. Do I really need forscan?
It depends on the difference in options from the donor truck to your truck. It will work if you just plug it in but you may have a bunch of error messages that appear for missing hardware that the cluster thinks you should have. Try to find a similar optioned truck (main thing is compass and trailer brake controller) to avoid issues.
my 2016 f250 came with am/fm cd and sync and still no luck. 10 seconds cycle, help!! thank you!
I have a few questions for you with this upgrade. Did the door open warning go away when you uploaded the settings form the old cluster to the new one? Also if i follow this video step by step this will work for my application? I have the same truck with a few more options then you but in the diesel version.
Yes. The main thing is downloading the info from your old cluster first and then uploading it into the new cluster.
would this be at all possible to swap the newer instrument cluster like you did into my 2010 250 xl? i have am/fm cd, power windows and door locks, other wise pretty basic standard cab long bed. any info is awesome, i love the new cluster you have. thanks
No I don't think so. Not easily. In 2011, Ford made major changes to the way the modules communicate and they are not interchangeable, even though they look kind of similar.
a couple question to ask you i got a2011 ford -f50 larriat main light don;t go back to home screen up and down button did not work you know wrong
Awesome video. Thanks for posting it. I picked up a 2011 F-250 XL with 26 miles on it and I'm interested in upgrading some aspects of it, but it's pretty stripped down. For instance, I don't think it has Ford Sync. I have no outside temp. gauge, cruise control, et cetera. A couple questions, if you have the time: With such a basic base, do you think it's possible to put this new cluster in? How much should I expect to spend on a cluster? A guess on labor to have it installed? --I appreciate your time.
It is possible to install the cluster in any F250. Not sure on the labor. The dealer would probably do it for $500 plus or they may tell you its not possible (which isnt true, they just dont usually do stuff like that). Your best bet is to do it yourself or if you don't feel comfortable find someone who is to do it for you. Maybe a local stereo install guy or something. The clusters themselves vary in price. Best bet is used on ebay.
If you want to do factory upgrades it has to have the basic power group to start. Ie power locks windows mirror's. Other wise you need to change the body control module thing to do any lariat upgrades. Like climate control auto headlights gps.
There's 2 different b.c.m( body control model) for the 2011-2016 if you need to have the power group to have the one that you can change the programming
Thanks for the informative video. I have a 2016 f350 i founf a instrument cluster brand new for under $ 300 would that be a good option ?
Should work
Make sure you confirm it is the better one....I had a couple places in (houston)texas try to scam me...... some very unscrupulous folks
Question, on mine granted it’s a diesel but I have the one through six for the gear range it’s in. Did you have that also on your old cluster. It does not look like the new clusters have anything but 1,2
It’s digital
Great video and camera work, you offered a LOT of info here.
Thank you again
Still trying to figure how to engage engine brake on 2016 6.7 with the “upgrade” 2012 6.7 cluster. Using forscan it shows turning on engine brake but does not engage, I would appreciate any help! Thank you.
Hey man I have a 2012 XL f250 and I noticed u had radio controls on your steering wheel , I want to add that feature to my truck how did u do it ? Thx
Check out my super duty playlist. Many videos and one that shows you how. czcams.com/play/PL4tQf1xob3LGOsZ-2vHuhXLohFrgpx9CW.html
Nice job
You'd think someone would offer a conversion module to make newer clusters plug and play.
They need programmed it wouldn’t be that easy
Does it matter if the cluster comes from a different fueled truck? IE: i have a 6.7, but can get a cluster from a gasser
I went to the forscan link you sent in comment section. but which one do I download for 2011 6.7 powerstroke
The latest windows version
Brilliant video. I have a 2013 F350 SD 6.7 CC DRW with CD player etc I have installed an 11-12 gauge cluster series JA thru JC per your video. I need the CC message center button module BC3T-9E748-AEW that you specified. Very hard to find, as the standard module will not work. Anyone know where I can find this module please ?
I'd check ebay. When I did this I also upgraded the steering wheel so it came with the new leather Lariat wheel.
How do you just remove the clear plastic cover? I just bought a 2012 f250 and there is dirt behind the cover that I want to clean off
Have to take the whole cluster out. It is clipped and / or screwed on
Hopefully I can still get a reply on this, but I'm rebuilding a flood truck ('08 F250 XLT) and the gauge cluster is crap. I bought a replacement from same model, trim and year truck. I'm hearing they have to be programmed or it won't allow your truck to start. Is this true? I have no idea how I would get "as-built" data from the old cluster.
It should start, but you will get a bunch of error messages probably.
Do you have part number and where you picked up your cluster? Thanks great video.
Number on the cluster is CC3T-10849-GC. Check out eBay.
Jack of All Master of None so I found one, but it’s kph cc3t10849bb is it easy just to do the swap and use my old cluster to swap the kph to mph?
@@CynicalKilljoy I know my dad somehow screwed with his and made it say khp. I got into the setting from the steering wheel and was able to change it back to mph.
I got me a cluster decently priced! The easy part is my hard part. I cannot find the 5 button nav switch for the steering wheel. That part number shows as invalid in all online Ford parts sites. Was it replaced with another part #?? Stuck.....
Not sure. I bought a new steering wheel and it came with it
Check ebay
I was looking for the part on the catalogue and it dont show up ether I found it on Ebay for 68 dollars
Hi Jack
I have the same problem
Mi truck is 2014 ford f250 6.7
An buy 2015 cluster every 10 seconds start again.
All the controls is working perfectly only the parking assistance is the problem
You need a 2011-2012 cluster in that case. Search the other comments for the answer to why.
I have the same truck have yoiu had any ac problems my ac blows but not hard and my compressor kicks on and off every 15 seconds
Sounds like it could be low on freon
I noticed on your video that the lights , the small hatch marks on the very outer perimeter of the RPM and MPH gauge display, did not come on. Why is that ? Are those hatch mark lights year specific?
I know this is 9 months later, but to answer your question, those marks are part of the Lariat bezel that he removed.
@@AJamesCo on my Lariat can I keep the cluster and delete that lit outer part around the MPH? I freaking hate those lit hash marks because they are aligned just close enough to the MPH numbers to confuse you. Whoever designed that feature deserves everlasting shame. Been searching for a solution for years and you are the first person that addressed it in any way. Any help greatly appreciated.
@@MrJamesTimmons those are supposed to line up with the mph. If they're not, then likely something has shifted. You can pull the cluster, remove the clear cover, and probably shift either the plastic piece that's the marks or the black cluster overlay. I've got a cluster in pieces in a box somewhere. I can probably get you some pictures.
Awesome Video! I recently did the same thing with my 6.7 but for some reason the dash resets its self every 10 sec...
The only difference I had was that the new dash had an extra row in FORscan vs the old one. I tried adding the truck I got the dash from original as built data in but no luck... any ideas on that may be causing it? I'm think that because the truck is a 12 and the dash is a 13 that is just not compatible
I believe the 2011-2012 trucks interchange only. A lot of the electronics changed in 2013, so that probably is the reason. Obviously Im not sure exactly what changed but for instance the radios completely changed in 2013 as well and do not interchange.
Did this ever get figured bout I'm having the same problem same year truck
Im having the same problem too..... 2015 F250 XLT with sync and the cluster I bought came out of an 2015 f350
Same issue here. I have a 2016 F250 XL 6.2L, and used a cluster from a 2016 F250 Lariat I got on eBay (part #FC3T10849GD). This shows as compatible on the Ford Parts web site, so I assume it comes down to a programming issue. One thing I noticed were a couple of DTCs for the IPC in Forscan: Code: U0422 - Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module & Code: U0159 - Lost Communication With Parking Assist Control Module A. I cannot find anything on which Forscan changes are needed for the Park Assist error (need to disable this), and not sure how to resolve the other. I tried importing the settings from my stock cluster, but that did not fix it. I will put something out on the Forscan form to see if I can find a solution.
I posted this on the Forescan and Ford-Trucks forums if anyone wants to follow.

I know you replace the old cluster. I was wondering if its possible to replace the lights on the original cluster or are integrated? Can’t find anything on 2013 f250 that answers that.
They are integrated LEDs. So would require micro soldering
i have a 14 raptor and needed to replace my cluster. i got another 14 raptor cluster and my 5 button control pad on the steering wheel does not work. do you know if this can be fixed with the forscan? and if so what should i be looking at in there? thanks
Sounds weird that it doesnt work if you got another Raptor cluster. In theory, it should be plug and play. Why did you need to replace cluster? To guarantee it works, you really need to flash your trucks as built data to the new cluster to ensure everything works properly, which you can do with forscan.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone i was trying to mod the cluster by removing the gauge faces and broke a couple of the motors. thanks for the tip, i wanted to check before i invested in the forscan cable
I have a 2012 Ford f-250 . if I unplugged my instrument cluster would it still retain all my settings?thanks
If you unplug it and plug it back in yes it would retain all of your settings. Im not sure if thats exactly what you mean though
Yes tyhats what i meant thank you. Iam just trying too paint the inside bezel piece
Hey Jack of all... did you have an issue with cluster compass function??? I swapped with a platinum and all is good accept rear sensors and compass?? No where can I find if I'm short a module or if I can activate with forscan... any ideas?
The compass is an additional module. You would have to add it for it to work. I turned it off. Thats why you have to flash your oem cluster info into the new one to disable the features you dont have.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone LOL, I didn't realize I already asked this.... my bad sorry man..
I did the same swap like you put the same cluster but when I plug the new one is working fine until 40 seconds and then turn off by self and on again and repeat did you know Id the is normal ? Or I have to do something different in the programming ? Thank you
You need a cluster for a 2011-2012 most likely. It's a problem with interference with the sync system I think. Look at the comments on this video to see what I mean
So where is the mileage stored, ecm not the dash? I am trying to put a 2016 f250 4 door lariat cab on a regular cab xlt 2014 f450 both diesel. The f250 has 300k and the f450 has 45k.
I’ve been trying to figure this out forever. The mileage is stored in the truck. Not the dash
i have a 2012 F-250 XL 6.2 gas / purchased an instrument cluster from a 2013 F-250 XL 6.2 gas … will the 2013 work in my 2012 ?
I highly doubt it. Do you have Sync?
I have a 2012 f250 xlt, I found a lariat cluster with pretty dang close miles. Would I be able just to plug it in or would I have to do any programming?
Most likely you will get error messages without programming.
Okay thank you
I have a 2012 super duty 6.2 and I want to do the upgrade but how can I get it programmed ???
I have a 2013 F250. Is a cluster from a 2015 compatible?
Look through the comments in this video. I think the consensus is you need a cluster from a 2011-2012 but it depends on your factory options.
So, the mileage will stay the same? I have a 2012 XLT and would like to upgrade the cluster.
The mileage will not transfer. You have to have it flashed.
I have a 2016 f250 6.7 and got a used cluster bur have an issue of it resetting every 10 seconds which I found is a common problem but don't know how to rectify ? any suggestions? Ford ids did not help as tried to change as built info. please, any ideas?? thanks
Probably need a cluster from a 2011-2012 to fix it. Read through the comments. It's a problem on the higher trim level trucks with Sync I believe
Question, I just did this swap on my 11 XL, the mileage did not swap over, did I miss something? EVERYTHING else work as it should
No. The mileage does not transfer. There is no way to change the mileage of a cluster unless you send it to a specialty shop
K
Need link for the Forscan program please
forscan.org/download.html
did the FORScan change the actual mileage also?
No
Where did you by the cluster
Ebay
Pardon me if I missed it in the video, but were there any issues with mismatched mileage
It does not cause any problems with function
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Thank you sir!
You can just turn on the outside temperature in forscan. Without having to download the as built data.
How so. Also my ambient temp doesn’t work either
I did a swap on my 2012 and now I have a 4x4 light and a traction control light,,
hello. I have finally after trying a 2016 cluster in my 2016 F250 6.7 that would keep cycling, replaced with 2012 cluster and it did indeed work, but now I don't have a compass or my engine brake. Any ideas on how to regain those features? thanks, Pete by the way anyone want to buy a 2016 F250 6.7 cluster with 81k?
You should be able to flash as built data from the stock cluster to the new one and it should restore those functions.
Do you know of any issues between the 2015 and 2016 clusters? When I installed the upgrade the cluster resets after about 20 secs. Thanks.
This seems to be an issue for some other folks with the 2015-16 clusters. I do not know the cause. Just make sure you flash the oem ipc data to the new cluster.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Thanks for the reply. I have not installed the new cruise controller on steering wheel nor tried to flash. Have you ever seen this issue resolved after the flash takes place? Thanks again.

What about mileage on the cluster?
The cluster controls the mileage. So you need to have a shop capable of changing the mileage update it or buy a used one with slightly less miles than yours and wait until they are the same to do the upgrade .
hello i did the upgrade and i got a cluster for the same model truck i have and it keeps resting, any idea why???

@@russellwinchester4560 Yes. I believe it's the same programming to get your features working correctly. It will plug in and work without programming, but you will most likely have error messages for missing components, etc.
It actually does store the mileage in the pcm
Yes it does.
You are correct. But it does not transfer that info between the PCM and Cluster. Multiple electronics on the truck track mileage also. Ive seen BCMs and TCMs store milage
