    Spectacular! There is nothing better than a fully rounded sound system. You can really hear it in the Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold songs that the bass is hard and clean. Every time I test a vehicle sound system, I like using Pink Floyd- Dogs of War, Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl, Apocalyptica- Faraway Vo. 2, AND Beastie Boys- Intergalactic. Lots of range, punchy basses, women's voices, and some sloppy/messy backs that'll confuse lesser speakers.
    Do you have a "Go To" song, or too?

    Good deal. When I bought my slightly used F350 someone put in a basic single din Poineer, but they did change all door speakers to the S Alipne 5x7s.
    I added a Kenwwod 9905S, a Pioneer 4 channel amp and a JL powered 210 box behind the rear seat. Love the well balanced sound now.

    For those wanting to know which wires he used its pretty simple.I was confused as well until i purchased the amp and took out the subwoofer box. The OEM subwoofer has a green plug That attaches to the green plug on the Sony amp (do not cut it off) once you disconnect the wires from the back of the sub you are left with 2+ and 2- wires. With this amp on the left side you have the same 2+ and 2- wires. So you attach those to the amp and it converts the signal needed down to 2 wires you will plug into the new subwoofer. The new setup is just what I wanted and has just enough bump. I also did the Kicker upgrade for all the doors and center channel. Much crisper, clear, and now with a good thump. Hope this helps

  • @WhatsthePOINT_EDC
    @WhatsthePOINT_EDC Před 2 lety

    Thanks man! This really helped me big time. I’m with you on the enclosed option bc it will get tight punching bass on rock music but still have good deep bass on the lower frequencies. Spent the last 4 hours looking up custom dimensions for my extended cab 14 f250. Grate idea on reusing the factory box.
    Since I’ve got the extended cab the box is under the driver side rear seat a 8 inch enclosed will be to big and for now I don’t want to spend the money one a custom built box for three 6.5s that are front firing and require rear seat lift kits to fit a taller front firing enclosure. For now reusing the stock enclosure is perfect. A little work on the factory enclosure isn’t a issue especially if the bass improves a considerable amount.
    I’ve got a question about the factory amp. So you got the clarion amp and used the factory wires in the video correct? The clarion amp powers your door speakers and tweeters currently??? This is my only unknown that’s got me puzzled at the moment. I used the factory head unit and wires on only 2 builds and neither were mine and it was so long ago I don’t remember if everything worked or not.
    Thanks for any info and thanks for the video.

  • @jav_eee
    @jav_eee Před 6 lety

    So you connect both sets (4 wires on this particular vehicle) of sub input wires from the factory amp to the input leads of the clarion? Or do you only use one set?

    @TManMusicPage Před 7 lety +2

    See I'm looking at a truck with an 8 foot bed and full size crew cab because i want to use a design a buddy from Canada did with his ram but improve it. Build would be twelve Crossfire XSv2 15s in a 4th order blowthru ran on 90,000 watts from 3 Taramps Bass 30ks or 6 Taramps Bass 15ks depending on ohm load im shooting for. Would probably do a funky center console as well. Maybe lift it and do a battery rack under the truck or go Lithium. Do 3 or 4 Singer Alternators under the hood and some 8 or 10 inch 7driver mids with some eros audio super tweets and horns in the doors.

Been thinking about just doing the sub and may still do that, but the factory is good enough (er...well, close enough I suppose) for my 47 year old ears. You should check out SoundmanCA on CZcams, he's done some amazing Ford truck iPad installs. Maybe you guys could work something out with a video collaboration.

    i understand why you wouldn't tap into the stock amp power. but why not tap into the stock amp remote power on and ground. did you just figure your running the 10G wire already so run the others?

    • @MrEuroWolfie
      @MrEuroWolfie Před rokem

      Take a look at the factory Amp wire sizes and you'll have ur answer why not bother with power or ground wire tap .. the remote lead wire is valid point on ur end..its already there and wire size no matter

      I also bought the exact same components to do the exact same thing. My question is, do you just tap into one channel of the factory sub wires or do you use one wire from each Channel and if so which ones?

    • @tdurre3
      @tdurre3 Před 5 lety

      Also, how did you end up plugging the hole in the back of the factory subwoofer enclosure? A bolt is threaded through that hole and into the back of the subwoofer and of course the new one doesn't have that.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety +1

      87national: my honest opinion is that this setup is beyond anything you can buy as a combo unit, especially for the price. It is crazy impressive. Full disclosure, I have not heard the kicker system before. I just can't imagine it could compete with the sound I'm getting.

    • @87national
      @87national Před 7 lety +1

      You couldn't have done this video at a better time, earlier today I was viewing the kicker replacement sub and amp they sell for our trucks. Looks like I'm back to the drawing board.. thanks for another great video

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety +3

      87national: highly recommend my setup. Again, you'll need to widen the hole by about 1/4 inch. A Dremel or Rotory tool is about the only way given the obstructions. Plus the amp fits perfectly in the spot I mounted it. It's a weather proof amp (not that that's needed) and also has High Level inputs that connect directly to your existing sub wires. Plus, everything total cost around $200

    • @87national
      @87national Před 7 lety +5

      Big Truck Big RV wow $200!! I'm sold! You should do a "how to video"' I'm sure there are lots of us here who want to upgrade our sub without having to remove our factory touch screen.

    Thanks for the great video - I put this exact same setup in my 2015 F350 Lariat this weekend and the bass is substantially better, and much more tunable to my tastes due to a better quality sub and the Clarion's LPF, Gain, and Bass Boost controls. Some detail was left out (wiring, seat removal, etc.) however it really wasn't that difficult, just takes some time and forethought to do it right. There is another video here on CZcams which describes which wire to pull a switched 12V signal off of, and that worked perfect too. For anyone that needs it: m.czcams.com/video/2hWT9sGHLgs/video.html

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety +5

      Pinarello Rider: Clarion was a great brand back in my day. Have things changed? It's pushing out some great power for its size and has a low SNR. It has no problem driving the subwoofer with the gain low.

      Tuneman11: 1996-2001 was my era of being a car stereo enthusiast. Best system I put together for my own vehicle was a Phoenix Gold / Kicker Solobaric system with FOCAL and Dynaudio midrange/highs. Ran a MS2125 to 12" Kickers. And kicker amps to everything else. Was all in a 1996 300ZX TT.

    Far from big bass. Still a cool looking setup. If you're looking for actual big bass buy a ram crew cab or mega cab and put 4 full size 10's. I have 4k watts going to mine.

    You have to stop making these videos!! Between yours and other CZcams videos I have installed Sulastic shackles, Rancho Steering stabilizers, a Titan Fuel Tank, and now preparing to do this speaker and amp upgrade. I’m going broke, lol.
    My question here is that the factory sub woofer has 4 wires going to it from the factory amp. Which of those wires do you connect to the line level inputs of the Clarion XC2110?
    Thanks,
    Mike
