  • This is the Day 3 Recap from the so-called "Love Triangle Murder Trial," aka TX v. Kaitlin Armstrong.
    Playlist to all videos on this topic: • Love Triangle Murder T...
    FOR CONTEXT:
    Yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong is on trial for murdering a professional bicyclist named Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson. Kaitlin was in a relationship with professional bicyclist Colin Strickland. When Kaitlin and Colin were on a break in their relationship, Colin very briefly dated Mo. Friends described this as basically a very casual, very brief dating period, without much emotional connection. Things didn't work out romantically for Colin and Mo, but they allegedly remained friends. Prosecutors allege that Kaitlin became very jealous of Mo ever since, and that this jealousy drove her to take Mo's life.
    After she was questioned by police, she fled to Costa Rica on her sister's passport, where she dyed her hair and had plastic surgery that changed her face dramatically. After she was apprehended, she tried escaping a second time, this time from a doctor's appointment she had in jail.
    Trial in this case began on October 30th in Austin, TX when a jury was paneled. On November 1st, the prosecution and defense gave their opening statements.

      I've noticed a lot of media coverage hasn't talked about the huge amount of planning that Kaitlin had to have done for the murder and the escape, and to a lesser degree the second escape attempt. The things she did were not things you can just improvise. She is so savvy and cunning. I would love to know what goes through her twisted mind. The local news here in Austin said that her lawyers petitioned the court to allow Kaitlin only probation if she is convicted.

    While Colin isn't guilty of any crime, his conduct in relationships is abysmal. At every turn he's creating tension and drama as if he enjoyed the jealousy. As unhinged as Kaitlin is, this could easily have been Colin's murder for being a lying, cheating, player.

    • @goldsbym
      @goldsbym Před 5 měsíci +7

      I have a feeling Colin has a reason to feel Guilt about the murder. There is no telling what he was doing or saying to Kaitlyn.

      I read another comment section that said Colin was oblivious and clueless that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. He didn't know he was playing with fire, effed around and found out. But I also wonder if he enjoyed the jealousy. I REALLY wonder if Kaitlin was trying to set Colin up to be blamed for Mo's murder, just to get back at him for his behavior.

    Colin should have ended things with Caitlyn. Caitlyn was/is unstable and her insecurities and paranoid made for a toxic relationship. Collin also seemed as though he cared for Caitlyn, but also seemed like he wanted to play the field. Mo just got caught in the crosshairs and unfortunately lost her life because of it.

    Mo's confused text regarding where she and Colin "stood" in their relationship speaks volumes. He's playing her for his self-gratification, being fought over by two females. Mo was too naive. She got wrapped up in his pro-cyclist aura. She herself wasn't chopped liver, she could get a much better deal but she was stuck to him (in spite of friends all around advice.) He and the defendant were a toxic couple, she was maniac-jealous and he bought her guns and they both kept playing hide-and-seek.

    • @sueecavanau
      @sueecavanau Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, I so agree with you here. I keep wondering if Colin really wanted a serious relationship with Mo. She was beautiful and a superstar. She was highly educated and a star on the rise to stardom. I think Mo might have been different than just another woman to play. Even though I think he did not deserve someone like Mo, Mo might have been very attracted to him. I keep wondering how much Mo was into him. I think it's a possibility that Mo and Colin really had the hots for each other and had some serious chemistry. I'll never know, but these are just things I keep wondering about. Only Colin knows the truth, and he'll never spill the secrets, because I have a feeling there was a lot of scary stalking and toxicity.

    • @newhorizon4066
      @newhorizon4066 Před 5 měsíci

      @@sueecavanau Colin simply wanted to string Mo along...First it boosted his ego, being fought over as "apple in my eyes" by two (actually the more the merrier, wasn't that at least 4 on his phone rolodex?) females. Second, this is much more significant, it boosted his public image, as Mo was an up coming star athlete, which translated to more sponsorships etc for Colin. Just think of how much PR value he could (was) milking off his association with Mo. Surprised that no one touched on this.
      Granted she was an upcoming star, he already established, so it's easy to see who's wielding power in the relationship. Remember the confused text Mo sent him at one point, not knowing "where things stand"? Go over that text (and Colin pretty much brushing that off) to see the guy m.o. (not "Mo"): to any of his female partners there's always an on-off sideshow somewhere in the background. To put it simply, Colin loves hubris, and didn't mind adding a couple of real guns into the mix. (If nothing else watch his behavior in/out of the courthouse. ) Mo was too naive and obviously inexperienced in the school of romance when she met Mr. Fox...Too concentrated on her professional life I guess.
      One final point: the defendant was hard-core jealous, that fact that Colin bought her guns while playing hide-and-seek with other females made the situation lethal.

  • @psychologicalprojectionist

    It doesn't matter what was happening in their relationship, Mo didn't do anything wrong, didn't deserve this and it is such a sad loss. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

      Colin was probably doing what 80+% of straight males would do in his position. The fact is most men are lucky to attract one woman, he probably had a lot of unasked for female interest. He can't have any idea that it could end up in this tragedy. The sad thing is, his friendship with Mo was probably just that.

    When in a relationship with someone who is a step above jelous you start to be less than 100% open with your interactions (out of experience). If going to buy cigaretts at the store and you get several days of anxiety as a result someone would stop going or stop telling them. On the way home from the store you are late ,because someone had an accident, and you get several days of interregations and anxiety you start making trips to the store that are slowly getting longer and longer to make room for unexpected things. You may even just sit in the car for long periods only to take a breath because you know the hours/days of anxiety you have to pay. 🤷‍♀️
    Its a game you can't win. If you are on time, just the fact that you made the trip shows that you are doing something nefarious in the sick mind. So what if you sit in the car and get a moment of peace? You get accused anyway.

    • @LegalBytesMedia
      @LegalBytesMedia  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Hearsay as a legal term is defined as an out-of-court statement offered to prove the truth of the matter asserted. In other words, a statement made by someone somewhere else that one party or witness is trying to essentially shovel into court to present to the jury. The main reason for the rule against allowing hearsay testimony is that the jury doesn't get to see cross-examination of that person making the out-of-court statement, and they don't get to observe the witness while the witness is under the gun in court. (There is a laundry list of exceptions to the rule against hearsay, but they are all very specific exceptions intended for specific situations.)
      In a situation like this, the out-of-court statement was Colin explaining on camera to the police what happened the day before, etc. It fits the rest of the definition of hearsay because what he explains to the police is what the prosecution would want to present to the jury as what actually happened (offered to prove the truth of the matter asserted). In a case where the jury was already going to be hearing all of this information from Colin himself while he's on the witness stand, it's not only hearsay if presented through the body cam footage, but it's a less ideal way of presenting this evidence (since it's better to bring the horse into the courtroom and get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak).
      Hope this explanation was helpful!

    Colin needed Kaitlin to help him with his business. He didn’t want to let that part of their relationship go, which is selfish but of course it’s not his fault. Kaitlin has some real issues with impulse control. Why isn’t her attorney going in that direction? Mental defect is clearly the way to go.

If you smother them they’ll be insecure, they’ll think you are compensating for something and they will still be insecure. GET THEM INTO THERAPY IMIDIATLY if they display unnatural insecurities. Get them into normal therapy and also go with them into couples therapy, don’t just only go to couples therapy with them; so you have to do most of the work, no, get them to work on themselves enough to meet you at least half way and have the tools and mental state to work with you in couples therapy.

    At least for me, when I clean a weapon after a shooting session, I wipe the weapon’s exterior down with a rag that has some form of oil/ rust inhibitor, on it. That could be what was on the weapon.
    But depending on what side of the gun is facing down when I stow it in the safe after cleanings, oil/lube from the internal portion of the weapon can leech out of the weapon. When I pick the weapon up a day or so later, there is oil all over that side of the weapon that was facing down.

    The “oily substance” on the firearms could be a few things. It really depends on the condition the firearm was in to give an educated guess. That and what color the oil is. If the firearm was fairly clean and the oil was clear, I am going to guess it was probably some post cleaning, standard, gun oil. If the firearm wasn’t fairly clean, the oil was a orange/red/brown color, it could be some type of conditioner people will apply to a dirty/hard to cycle gun while at the range.
    If I was an attorney for either side, I would like to see if that oily substance was on the victim too. Especially if the firearm was found dirty and saturated in the oil. If the firearm was clean and the oily substance was clear, I would assume the last person to use that firearm cleaned and over oiled the gun after its last use.

    Oily substance is probably just oil. Contact surfaces often need some kind of lubricant but most firearms can function just fine without (giggity). This is a guess not gospel.
    Also there are other oil that are not for lubrication for example:
    grinding oil (giggity) to polish metal on metal contact point that can make "racking" the slide of a full metal firearm (e.g. colt 1911) much smoother.
    or a cleaning oil to remove carbon build up, aka fouling especially after (very) heavy use.
    these are all just guesses
    also sorry, couldn't help myself😂

    Colin may have been a rat, but that is no excuse, for anything but ending their relationship. It doesn't make any of her subsequent abuse or violence his fault. As for the half nude picture, he may not have encouraged it or sanctioned it and may not have felt that his relationship required him to delete it. Its presence on his device is immaterial. Her discovery of it, is problematic and may have caused him to be more careful of his female friends. He obviously knew women who would like to have a relationship with him, but that is not his fault.
