FOR CONTEXT:
Yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong is on trial for murdering a professional bicyclist named Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson. Kaitlin was in a relationship with professional bicyclist Colin Strickland. When Kaitlin and Colin were on a break in their relationship, Colin very briefly dated Mo. Friends described this as basically a very casual, very brief dating period, without much emotional connection. Things didn't work out romantically for Colin and Mo, but they allegedly remained friends. Prosecutors allege that Kaitlin became very jealous of Mo ever since, and that this jealousy drove her to take Mo's life.
After she was questioned by police, she fled to Costa Rica on her sister's passport, where she dyed her hair and had plastic surgery that changed her face dramatically. After she was apprehended, she tried escaping a second time, this time from a doctor's appointment she had in jail.
Trial in this case began on October 30th in Austin, TX when a jury was paneled. On November 1st, the prosecution and defense gave their opening statements.

It definitely doesn't look good that she has two people testifying that she's mentioned wanting to [REDACTED] Mo. Also, unrelated, but have you seen Karl Jobst and SomeOrdinaryGamer's videos about Jirard the Completionist's charity from yesterday? I'd be very interested in hearing your take on that situation.

@@LegalBytesMedia The strange thing of the case is I think Jirad has kept all the charity money for 10 years in a bank account and really hasn't dipped into it, getting more each year. Is there a benefit in trying to donate a large amount at once? Or a benefit to trying to have a large bank account for the business? Like what would be the motive because I think he wants his cake and eat it to, somehow benefit from not giving the money first and then giving it to charity later.
If Katlin doesn’t get a guilty verdict after all this proof, I’m not sure I can ever trust the jury to do the right thing..
It’s not even a doubt that of course they’ll find her guilty because she is.

She’s being buried by circumstances. It reminds me of the Nancy Brophy trial in that respect.
They will have chosen a VP of comms or whatever for clarity of communication as you said, and to try and manage the fallout. This isn’t the first time strava has had a privacy issue that has resulted in some kind of harm, so they will want to make sure they emphasise that Mo could potentially have set it private etc.
This whole trial has been so interesting. I personally feel that Mo's family should file a lawsuit against Strava, because the privacy settings are such to allow all details to be available to view by all users by default. There has been some recent changes to their app to help with privacy, but it clearly wasn't enough to prevent someone from tracking Mo to the point where she was killed. Hopefully Strava users across the board will take this as a lesson in the danger of not protecting their location information.
The security change to the app was an interesting point that was referenced in Mr. Bell's testimony, but which I decided to leave out of the recap. I get the sense that it was specifically because of Mo's murder that they changed that feature. I also wouldn't be surprised if Strava already entered into a quiet settlement with Mo's family before trial.

Strava added a security feature years before this murder. It’s a setting the user can choose. To hide where you start and finish your ride. To protect your home address. Strava also used to have a feature to show where all the other users were during your ride. Real time etc. they removed that a few years back.
Wow. A woman obsessed and on a mission. For these unhinged types, they will find something amiss and stalk their target whether it be Strava or some other way.
Yip i have now hidden my home address! it's like a random circle around you house that gets hidden and you can set how big that circle is. or you can hide ever start and finish to you activity. or hide the whole thing but seeing where every is running or riding is part of the fun off the app cuz people set challenges on different road all over the place and its fun to try beat them.

Among all of the new information you provided, one of the most shocking for me was that Kaitlin had a "notes" folder on her phone that she had deleted. When it was recovered, they found the address of the NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR of Kaitlin Cash, where Mo was murdered. It was deleted on May 12, 2022, the day AFTER Mo was murdered. How can Kaitlin Armstrong explain this one away?
I think, in American terms, its called a ‘slam dunk’, a scary one too. This type of person needs to be withdrawn from public life. God help her.

Before this update, I could potentially see a way of someone in the jury having reasonable doubt, but with the stuff from today I don't see anyway that could be possible anymore. The evidence, of not only the crime but the steps to try and get away with it afterwards, is just too damning imo.

Ah! I should have clarified. "Unalive" is my word, censored for CZcams. I try to censor these kind of words that CZcams doesn't like whenever I can, to prevent it from throttling video performance. Kaitlin used the real word for it.

I did a beginners surfing course for a week and the wet hands/rough foam surfboard combo removed my fingerprints temporarily 😂 but I don't know why you'd ever bother searching that info after the crime? Like if you think your fingerprints might be at the scene unless you totally obliterate them then the police would be able to match them, even if you've got a few scars there would be enough of a match, and I'd imagine from a policing point of view anyone whos clearly removed their fingerprints is on the suspicious side

I laughed at the suggestion that the VP of communications was sent because he'd communicate the technical details better. As someone who worked in tech I think it's obvious that Strava's only goal here is to minimize bad PR, they don't want people getting freaked out by a detailed explanation of how Strava can be used against you in a court of law (they have had multiple privacy scandals because location data is more sensitive than most people realize) but they can intentionally obscure that by sending someone ignorant of the technical details and trained to know what sounds bad to the public. It would be ludicrous for a VP of communications to understand the technical system well enough to usefully explain why their data is reliable, even the head of engineering for a corporation of that size would probably need to be briefed by engineers actually working on the relevant subsystems to give a coherent explanation.
Fair enough!! That's an excellent point, and an unfortunately very reasonable possibility for why they sent this witness as opposed to an engineer who could give more detailed explanations.

Yes direct evidence would be great, but the lack of direct evidence is explainable IMO and could have existed but been missed.

The relationship between Colin and Kaitylin was off and on. Sounds like a not so healthy relationship. Colin should have ended it with Kaitlyn forever before he got involved with Mo. Kaitylin sounds like a control freak that was so jealous of any other woman. The person she should have taken her feelings out on was Colin. Colin doesn't sound or looks like anything special. In fact he isn't. He wasn't honest, he tried to hide things because he knew how Kaitylin would act. She was stalking mo. To mo family I would see Kaitylin, Colin and the app used by bicyclist. Justice for mo. Karma is a bitch Kaitylin and colin.

It seems pretty solid to prove she was there, but I wonder if the lack of physical evidence regarding the murder itself will be enough for reasonable doubt. Like it would be extremely rare to have her research, be so close, then flee if she didn't do it, but there's no "smoking gun" (literally).
What physical evidence you want more? The gun? The bullet? The DNA in mo bike? The car? The tracking history? The escape? The plastic surgery? The video of the car? The gps location of the car? The selling of the car? This is Prosecutor heaven..

Hearing details in this case reminds me how sensationalized the media is about this case. While it appears Colin made some real shit choices the text messages and videos played seem more friendly than a love triangle. Idk. Shows how loco Kaitlin is.
