Yo Kev, congrats on 250k!
Holy crap that happened fast
So my take away from this video confirms what I was thinking and that is that once you get to this level of competition/building nothing is ever easy.
That my friends is why gentlemen like Kevin are so invaluable to this sport because we all know he'll find a way to make it work and do it properly.
Once you start building and going full custom it really takes some planning and fabrication to get it all to play nice together.
Thanks for the video and the time it takes to film/edit on top of the outstanding work you do...
OEMs put hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of man hours into R&D o make cars work well from the factory. Building a race car, especially at this level, means improving upon that foundation. Not an easy recipe in many cases.
Yes sir it’s a pain definitely after your car is built around a different setup. Because no part manufacturers parts are made the same size. But Kevin and his team are some of the best fabricators/builders. It’s hard to find shops that look at everything and go out of the way too perfect the work as KSR. Yes I have a foxbody built by them with paperwork I personally didn’t have them do it but the gentleman I got the car from did acouple years back.
with his amount of knowledge is more tedious than it is hard. he has an entire game plan and knows exactly what to do. for the average person this appears to be a really hard job but for someone like him this was pretty simple.
I think It's harder to pick up a tenth in a 7 second class than picking up a full second in a 10.5 class
@@patrickmuzzi not really though! Nitrous can do wonders 😂
250k and you're shocked? You give such amazing content. From installation tips on certain things and what to look for to just wholesome collabs with other guys beyond Cleetus. Personally you're my favorite youtuber and you're so close to where I am
I’m shocked. Sxsblog does similar style videos and doesn’t get the numbers Kevin gets.
@@fastballfilms4214 similar does not mean the same.
Ooooh fwend
Agreed Cleetus act like a punk grifter, KSR Kevin is a class act!
@@julioshaheen8386 in what regard is Cleet a grifter?
I really can’t express how much I love this channel. Every time I watch one of your videos, I feel like an apprentice under your tutelage.
It’s like KSR Tech College!!
Thanks for the great content Professor Kevin. Please keep it up.
Kevin's the reason I went and took Holley's classes for my own projects. So much to learn.
Even my girlfriend who has little to no interest in cars and drag racing enjoys Kevin's video's because he's so educational and explains everything so well.
I’d buy a KSR college style shirt
Second that! KSR Technical College t-shirt is a must have
@@codyadkins9241 would you say the Holley classes are worth it?
Kevin I get the vibe that you’re doing exactly what you love doing. You always seem so chill so relaxed. Never sweating. No swear words. Just a really mellow awesome vibe. I’d love to work for someone like you !
I know the mullet videos tend to get more views, but your technical skills displayed in all your videos is amazing. You've got a gift, dude. I'm just glad you're taking us all along for the ride! Congrats on 250k!
It’s not often you see a channel with this level of detail doing so well, just shows how high your quality of content and work is, and how interesting you are to people!
The best part of your channel is all the professionals in the comment section who don't own or build racecars, yet tell you how you should do things. Frail egos are so entertaining. Keep up the killer work Kevin, can't wait until you hit the milly mark!
You are one of the real people on YT. I like car channels , but the fad in youtube is more like " WaTcH Me DesTrOy ThIS 1000,000 DoLLaR TRuCK!"" rather than " Hi , lets work on cars and make 'em fast!" Keep at it man!!!
250k! It's great seeing you get more comfortable and come into your own more every video. You've really got great, entertaining, and really informative videos. A winning combo imo. Keep it up man!
i cringe cause the video can get awkward at times
@@gearbanginentertainment7476 be thankful that I edit out the really awkward stuff.....lol
@@KSRPerformanceFabrication I wish you didn't.
I live for the awkward stuff 😆
Kevin, was good to meet you on Monday! You're as genuine in real life as on your channel. Keep up the great work because we really enjoy your content!
I've got NO IDEA why there isn't a Dailey dry sump on this beautiful gem you have created. Will get rid of all those crankcase blow by issues, and at the same time, keep the ole girl well lubricated. I've fought those issues before on many race cars. No more, direct to dry sump now days.
Congratulations on the 250k good brother!! 👏
I tried to make the tunnel big enough but failed.... lol
I'm glad to see it only took a little trimming and I'm very happy it's being handled by Kevin and the crew at KSR Performance.
Kevin, if you you weren’t such a great guy, and even better Mechanic we wouldn’t want to be there. Your channel is awesome.
I really appreciate how dedicated you are to your career and business i you can see that you’re working nights obviously it’s probably the night so you don’t have your kids but still it just shows that you really love what you do!!
Fuel the Al Gor ithm and support the RPM Act.
Congratulations on 250K!
So, why not run a big 4 vane vacuum pump from Moroso or GZ vacuum pump or something along those lines? Would that not remove all crank case pressure and help seal rings better to alleviate the issue entirely?
Congrats on 250k! Thats excellent, your episodes are unreal!
I thought that was the plan from the Cleetus video where Kevin said he had a vacuum pump coming for Soccer Mom that he would fit to Mullet instead.
I was thinking this same thing and came to the comments and saw yours
I talked to several different people with more experience with alcohol fueled engines and their suggestion was to not use a vacuum pump. I may still try the one on my Cutlass engine, but I am willing to experiment more on my stuff than on Cleet's stuff. If I have an issue on my own project, its not too big of a deal to me. Having an experiment go bad on Mullet, or any other customer project would not be good!
Kevin; have you considered adding header extractor style valves in the down-pipes post turbo? The venturi-effect would be very strong, with the amount of airflow a 2000-hp engine pumps, and it’s a basically free / mechanically simple way of causing a greater depression (delta-p) across the valve-cover vents. You could even go a step further and running the header extractor lines to the top of the catch can so, vacuum is pulled on the catch can itself, therefore the catch can wouldn’t need to be vented.
@@KSRPerformanceFabrication when I researched vacuum pumps for my old engine the general consensus was they're best when the rings are specified for vacuum pumps.
Kevin... The work you guys do there at KSR is Top Notch. I love the "behind the scene" angle that we get on ALL your projects...not just the ones for Cleet. He is a very lucky guy to have teamed up with a team such as yours. It's a mutually beneficial partnership that works in both of your favors. Cleet gets first rate work done and you get more exposure to fans and subscribers. Neither of you guys would be where you are at now without the other! Congrats on 250K, looking forward to the next milestone. Thumbs up for Kevin and the KSR team!
Kevin is one of those guys that we need to clone, master craftsman.
The squeaky trans jack had me rollin' 😂😂😂
PRI is such an amazing show. I remember going a few years ago and felt like i was 10 years old again in a toy store. Never a dull moment and so many amazing products and people to see.
Hi Kevin, I'm a mechanical engineer from Brazil, about the crank case pressure I'd take a different approach about it. There's no physical excuse to a alcohol based fuel delivering more blow-by other then increase in the cylinder pressure, which it's not getting sealed by the rings. With that said, maybe it's time to rethink clearences/ring types/materials etc. Increasing valve cover breathing maybe will get you somewhere for a while, but it's not the roots of the problem.
Keep up the good work, Cheers from a fella data lover!!!
I'm wondering, as a fellow ME, if there are notable differences in the quench region temps which may necessitate tighter ring gap?
Lateral gas ports on the Pistons would help, but they might put too many miles on the car for that option.
I think it's more about the power and psi of boost that they can use on the alcohol thats gonna create the pressure.
@@350zofwi I mean, I'm not trying to talk crap, but they're really not making that much power. None of Cleeter's cars make big power relative to the parts cost he has in them... At least to-date. Leroy did for like 3 tenths of a second!
@@corystansbury I guess we will see after the new transmission is put in. They couldn't make power on a slipping transmission. And now with Leroy getting his upgrades it will definitely get interesting. Also normally these engines have vacuum pumps on them and Kevin did say something about that as well in an earlier video so I'm curious why he didn't go that route too.
Amazing craftsmanship. My husband and I love your channel. You will be a 1M in no time.
Nice transitions from the time lapse to real time video. Just a very easy, none "busy" video to watch.
Why doesn't mullet run a dry sump. It would give better clearance and but the main reason would be that it would totally solve any pressure build in the crank case. Would also possibly make even more power.
its one of the things i thought of lots of times why dragcars got the oilpan hanging so low it scrape get banged and cracked if the suspension is botoming out after a hard wheelie.
Always along for the ride Kevin, it's a pleasure to watch you work. I've actually changed how I build stuff by watching your thought process. Great videos!
Me also, I,m much neater now & just don't throw things together.
Comments like these really fire me up!!
If you can put those crankcase breather hoses on the front of the valve covers towards the front of the engine, under acceleration oil won't pool to the back of the valve covers and fill your tank as fast
that's why the flags are flying the wrong direction on Leroy on the valve covers
what an Awesome guy Kevin is......
Phenomenal content as always, sir! Congrats on 250k, it's well deserved!
I bet you could upload a video of how you organize wrenches and still teach us a smarter way to do it.
You never cease to amaze with your perspective on everything from the mundane to the mystic when it comes to oily bits and electronics.
Congrats on 250k🥳
Here's to the next 250k🍻
Congratulations Kevin on surpassing the 250k subs! I was an early fan boy to this great channel. Kevin always takes time to like and reply to comments and takes time to meet and greet fans at events. Please help him out and purchase some merch for Christmas. Thanks again Kevin for the great content.
That's what you get from delevering high quality, well deserved 250+ K(SR) subs Kevin, congratulations!
Kev...firstly, huge congratulations on hitting 250k subscribers...well done👍Sure many viewers came across because of Mullet, but thousands have stayed and signed on because of you. The KSR CZcams product has grown and now stands on its own 2 feet irrespective of Mullet...and that's something to be proud of. Kudos Kev👍
Somebody let a squirrel loose in your garage when you were installing the transmission 😂. Great video as always, also thanks for the QA video that was fun, always keep learning!
Alvin and the chipmunks has started working as floor sweepers at KSR 😂
Congratz for reaching a quarter million subs Kevin.
YES, He deserves it.
In the UK, a drive shaft connects the differential to the wheel. A prop-shaft (for propeller) connects the gearbox to the differential.
It seems like making an access panel may be useful if something happens to the dump valve setup.
I'd make a sheet metal spacer to go between the bell housing and the engine instead of machining the face of the converter. Congrats on 250k
Awesome job Kevin as always. Unlike most people you can tell you do these videos for the “people”. All the time you take to go into so much in depth detail to explain everything. I love that so much about you brother. Keep it up and awesome job on the 250k subscribers. I see you hitting over 500k no problem plus more. Be awesome to meet you, clet, and jack stand and the rest of the boys. Keep the great vibes and extremely awesome videos coming
Voiceover is always welcome. Feel free to add those when you are editing to clarify things.
I love mullet, kevin is doing a lot here for cleetus and I can see this car breaking 6’s.. the fact that it’s hooking so good with the new and approved suspension plus with doctor tune em all on board this set up will definitely break 6’s so best of luck gotta see it happen.
13:20 In case you’re wondering, Santas elves help Kevin out in the shop when they’re not building toys for all the children don’tcha know..
Your Welcome Kevin...Your Content is way worth my time👍
LMAO. The sound of the transmission being lifted in fast forward was funny.
Definitely a congratulations on 250k subs. Your work speaks for itself. Kevin, you got my attention with the "Dale Truck". I am glad Garrett listened and killed the rocket car project and mullet took it's place. It was a safety situation with me and I was commenting on every video, hoping that is was at least noticed. It looks like you are learning and using some experience with mullet and making "soccer mom" faster. Keep at it. 😎🤘
Those long vent lines running down then up again are an issue, once they become full and the oil in them cools you will have a hell of a time passing anything thru them. Without cleaning them use a air pressure gauge and look at the pressure it takes to push those fluids.
Look at aa/fd straight lines right back to huge puke tanks
🚬💣👽💩🚲🎣🇺🇸
@@jeffreymorris4827 Take a 3/4 “ hose eight feet long fill it with race weight oil contaminated with fuel , let the fuel evaporate off then try and blow it out ( manually) . Those return lines start high go down then up to the tank , that’s a lot your asking of crankcase pressure to overcome.
There will be drain valves at the low points of the lines. Now, if those drain valves will get used......thats another story....haha
So nice of Flipper to give you some help... 13:00 LoL 🤣
Thanks for letting us see into your work and world!!!
Gotta love Kevs upload schedule. 3am here in Australia, can't sleep due to insomnia but at least I get to watch kev work his magic on mullet
Congratulations Kevin!!!! You guys deserve it! Keep up the good work, you guys inspire us all!
Kevin, M&M recommended you use a sledge hammer and or a 6ft pry bar to clearance the gap to necessary specs. They are tough, you're welcome.
This mann can sure Drive like a maniac, and build a wicked drag car with precision
Every time time I watch a ksr vid the Level of detail amazes me and I watch all the videos and I’m always amazed great job Kevin congrats on the success
Loves me a bit of KSR with me brekky 😁 Thanks for the great content guys .
Congratulations on the quarter million Kevin.
Your channel is way more than worthy of your subscriber count
If you think about it 250,000 watch KSR which is the same amount of seating at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Great job Kevin and I hope that number continues to grow.
Congrats on your channel growing. I started following you when you did some work on Cleetus's golf cart.
Hey just a thought, even though you make the pcv line larger I'm thinking that the length of line to the back of the car would be a restriction it's self. Wouldn't it be a good idea to install some type of vacuum system for good measure
Congrats on 250k but you shouldn’t be surprised. The content you put out is awesome and it will continue to gain support!
That transmission is a thing of beauty.
Make sure no one put a shim on the flexplate for the old set up to get the right clearance with the glide… Great work, love the videos. I do this stuff on the side for extra money. Just got done back halving and 4 linking a car.
Keeping track of shims is one thing that can get overlooked trackside if you need to work on it.
Kevin on your vent line you need to take some of the bends out. Remember the Old quote The path of least resistance is the physical or metaphorical pathway that provides the least resistance to forward motion by a given object or entity. Remove them hard bends like on the driver side. The pressure will hit it and come back towards the engine. Long swooping bends are better. Even if you gotta somehow run it around the front of the engine and bring it back somehow. If the crankcase has to push it. It’s gotta build pressure to do so.
I though he said the low hanging part of the line where filling with oil and blocking airflow. Air trying the push up the lines into the tank.
Complicated Scientific Space Ship Calculations. What a pain but worth it when done. Thanks.
i love cleeters channel for all the goofy stuff. Been following for years, just started watching kevin when mullet came around. By far my most favorite technical channel on youtube!!
2:09 no Kevin, you are awesome. Congrats man😎
You are getting much better at the youtube thing videos are getting better all the time.

You and cletus would have to have the best time lapse music ever
Ever thought of adding vents to the valley? Lots of factory DOHC cars have that due to smaller air paths to the cylinder head from the crank case. Might be good to add a direct connection from the valley to flow even more crank case air out!
Kevin, I know it is just another day "at the office" for you, but it has to be somewhat challenging having to re-engineer something that was close to perfection already. You are an amazing fabricator/mechanic/tuner/driver! Much respect Sir! As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
