I'm the anybody Kevin is talking about in his video. I'm a software dev; but built Squirrel in my 4-car garage using things I learnt from videos like this. Watch a lot of videos, look at what others are doing in vids and at the track, and do a lot of practice... a lot! You actually explained today why I did something that made sense in my head but didn't really understand why I was doing it, so yes; we do learn something every day 😁

Curious whats your position on using filtering masks when welding ? Im looking at some Australian guys that do a lot of welding and they always wear a mask with a filter to protect yourself from the fumes and gasses.

Kevin, if you notch 1 5/8 piece of tubing perfectly to another 1 5/8 how much should you grind back? I guess what I’m asking is if you hand notch and the inside of the tubing notch is not touching the Inside of the tube it’s not gonna be that strong. I guess that’s why most people notch the tubing 3/4 of an inch so they can get penetration on the edge of the tubing and weld to the other tubing, its notch to?

@Kevin your never to old to learn new tricks & that is coming from a 65 year old that wishes he was taught a lot things when i was young ! I knew a bit stick wielding but was never taught i just grabbed it & went at it & was able learn from my mistakes ! I'll see you next year at Indy God Willing I'm still alive by then !

10 years ago I bought a 02 400ex from a kid in wampum for $250 and it wasn't stolen lol. He had a shop put a new top end in it and it wouldn't start. It was just out of time. Stock seat plastic and graphics in perfect shape. Brand new tires and everything was tight except the carrier bearing had some play. Wampum

Kevin I'm picking just. Idk shit about shit. But at 29:20 in the video so you know what I'm talking about. You've got that bar welded straight to the frame. I was always told and heard mount a plate and weld to that. But the bar in front you do have it like that. Can you explain why the difference? Like you say in the video learning from people. I'm just trying to pick up knowledge
