There’s a reason why groups of people who are going to live together in isolation receive extensive psychological testing. Such situations can bring out deeply buried antisocial traits. That’s exactly what’s happened on this ship. In fact, the problem has been exacerbated by the clearly delineated pecking order engendered by the preferential treatment from the cruise line. The situation has been exacerbated by the frequent cancellation of trips off the ship which usually serve as a great stress breaker. Of course, this is, to a lesser degree, an issue on all cruises but they are shorter and don’t generally have such a clear social strata.
It reminds me of the Standford Prison Experiment. I wonder if there's any secret research going on that we'll find out about 4 years after the cruise is done.
@@saint-miscreant me, too. It's terribly unethical though, so I'm not sure if there's anything in their sign on contracts that is worded vaguely enough that it could happen. Of course any researcher traveling on the ship could do a case study analysis, using pseudonyms and only demographic identifiers. I so hope it happens. I'd be really interested.
Do research about the Chinese Squid Fishing Mutiny genuinely one of the craziest stories I've heard about large amount of people on a ship where it all goes to hell. Just goes to show that you can genuinely get away with a lot of thing when your off of land and only surrounded by a smaller group of people.
I swear to god rich people are not psychologically sound. Because I dare a mf to put their hands on me over some miss manners crap because it will not go the way he thinks it will. The entitlement these people have (usually while calling the poor entitled for wanting to pay rent AND eat). Disgusting.
The towel return comment I assume is because when you do a back to back cruise you are treated a little like you’re a new passenger. So like you can leave stuff in your cabin but you might have to get off the boat, go through customs, get a new cruise card, return any linens, etc. While you technically never leave it can be disruptive and take a good chunk of a day you otherwise might have used to explore a port or relax. I think the towel comment is a reflection that people thought they paid for a continuous 9 month cruise but they’re being treated like they’re just taking a bunch of cruises back to back and that might just be one aspect of that. Yes it’s a first world problem, but I can understand the frustration of being sold one thing and it turning into something else which seems to be the overarching narrative of this whole cruise.
On the influencer hire thing I think if it had been something that was put out before the cruise started and they picked maybe two influencers for each of the four original sections that would have been accepted that would be the norm. This smacked of a desperate attempt by Royal Caribbean to put themselves in a good light to combat the negative publicity and that was never going to go down well.
These are customers who turned into wannabe influencers and they all seem entitled, they complain about every little thing. They are looking for negativity because it's getting views. It's a vicious cycle.
The spring roll drama. I wouldn't have remained calm too long. Once he says no youll sit behind me and wait til i get off. I would have told him no i fucking wont let go of me you will not boss me around im leaving and you will accept and let me i would be angry
Honestly, I am empathy-ed out when it comes to this stuff. New people who are still choosing to buy and go on this cruise... You know what you're signing up for. It's a very public shit show. If you still choose to buy a ticket after knowing all of this, that's kind of your own poor choice. If you already got a ticket before it started or you can't get out of your reservation, sure, but the fact that people are still giving this company money knowing how terrible it is is so exhausting.
THIS. I'm so confused why anyone would sign up for this garbage now, knowing full well that it's garbage. Why pay for a bad experience on purpose? And subject your family to it? I don't understand.
I was thinking... What if you were meant to get off the ship at one of the cancelled ports? They'd probably just throw you overboard, and tell you to swim! 🤣
Me at work: Sorry, can’t help you right now. Markie dropped the next episode of The Nine Month Cruise. J/k - I haven’t seen a customer in an hour, so I’m sitting here knitting and watching CZcams. 😂
I personally think the hired influencer thing reeked of payment for good reviews as a desperate attempt to save face over everything that’s coming out. I can see why it put a lot of people already on the cruise and making content off and I think it was good they addressed it with them. If it had been an offer before the cruise started I don’t think it would have bothered anyone because that is something that happens in the cruise industry. I follow a few cruise content makers (not world cruise people) and the good ones are open about when they’ve been compensated for a trip or why they don’t accept compensation because it often breeds special treatment and means they can’t realistically review the cruise experience of an average guest. They just wanted positive PR but it’s too little too late and it’s kind of a slap in the face that they even attempted that.
The thing is these are customers turned wannabe influencers. It's standard practice for brands to hire real existing influencers for things. None of it is new. They chose to turn their vacation into content and hunt for negative crap to post because it gets more views. Of course Royal Caribbean isn't going to pay their customers for their constant negative posts - that makes no sense.
I think some of the people are starting drama out of sheer boredom Even a week would be hell for me So those who are on there for the full 9 months and have done everything with hardly any shore stops are probably bored out of their skulls during the day
This is why I'm so happy to have been one of the people who voted for you NOT to go. This would have been an insane waste of money and the worst way to get introduced to cruising.
Looking at the dock records for Hong Kong & Serenade Of The Seas was indeed in port with another ship called Mein Schiff 5 (owned by TUI Cruises, a German brand). Both ships were departing around the same time so it is likely that Mein Schiff manoeuvred in a way that caused Serenade to force an emergency procedure.
See? This is exactly why I can’t do cruises. The second that strange man grabbed me by my belt and DEMANDED that I sit and wait for him to finish eating because he was better and richer than me….he’d be eating that spring roll off the floor. No way in hell would I let some stranger fake-rich AH put his hands anywhere near me.
I’d really love to hear from the crew of this cursed cruise, I can’t imagine what they are having to put up with from both their employer and the guests
I went on a 3 month royal Caribbean cruise in the Mediterranean sea & the ship o was on looked more upperclass than the interior of the world cruise ship. It's quite surprising considering how much they paid.
The thing that is most wild to me is that world cruises aren't new. I've been dreaming about going on one and looking up fares/plans etc for decades at this point. I don't understand why this one is so unique. I'm not surprised it's a shitshow because usually the worst part of any cruise is (some of) the other passengers, I'm just surprised it keeps getting sold as some new, unique idea that's never been done.
Because Americans have changed for the worse in just four years. The entitlement is off the charts. The true Karens are off the charts. No one feels obligated to behave in order to get along anymore. No one cares how uncouth they may appear to others. America is going down the tubes socially and we don’t have a shared cultural history that binds us together as more homogeneous and older nations do. It’s a 24 hour shit show with us now and it’s sad.
@germyw definitely agree with the majority of your comment, that's why I said I'm not surprised it's a shitshow, I'm just baffled of the treatment of this boat as some unique thing that hasn't happened before when cruise lines have had world cruises for decades. Sadly though, your comments don't only apply to America. It's happening here in Australia too. Entitlement, main character syndrome and rudeness seem to be getting worse each year. We were on a cruise in December, with families who were doing a Christmas cruise together, and a cruise in February, full of more seasoned travellers (both in age and number of sailings). The latter was the worse experience, by far.
This is so wild! I have been on a bunch of RC cruises and never had an issue (other than a hurricane interfering with my plans). This cruise has been such a mess!
honestly i feel like a lot of problems like this happen on cruise ships, it's just that in this situation every problem and concern is being broadcast on social media and overblown lol
@@jkkimora6350 The length of time really matters. With shorter cruises you have a better idea about things like weather and port conditions as well as the current political situations around the world. You also get burnout from the crew, and you get passengers in cliques. Mini society, except it's mostly made up of people who have...comfortable life styles that don't require them to confront people different from them. I'm not saying all rich people are entitled...but it's not uncommon. Most of those things just doesn't happen with shorter cruises.
@@jkkimora6350totally agree with you. A lot of this is a normal part of travel and cruises but every single little thing is turned into content by these customers turned wannabe influencers. They're literally looking for things to complain about and broadcast to the world. They're all coming off as very unlikable people.
I still don't understand the people who are making tiktoks talkimg shit about the cruise (which is what made it famous) are mad at Royal Caribbean, because they don't wanna pay TT to talk shit about them?? And btw **A company is never gonna pay you for something you are doing free anyway**
Taking down the listing is probably the only logical thing in this situation cause think about it. If they started paying people already on the cruise making content it would maybe set a bad example that you can just go on a trip/go to a hotel/any kind of organized event, manufacture drama/news and then demand to be paid for the coverage. That would go bad very fast.
Heck yeah! Markie back at it again with the 9 month World Cruise & with the most phenomenal timing too because I just watched some creepy ass paranormal video & now I'm paranoid so it'll be a perfect pallet cleanser for my brain thank you.
About the cruise line paying people to come on board and make content. I know it's normal for brands to pay people to promote stuff but I feel like this is a little different because they want to do it as a reaction to it being such a crap shoot. It's not just trying to get the word out. Its to try to flood the Internet with good reviews/ cover up the bad ones.
It's nothing new. It's standard practice. These people are customers first, RC wants people who are actual real influencers to come on board. The cruisers just took it personally because they take everything personally and fuel negativity.
@@-xxMelissaxx- I get it I really do but the thing that bothers this time is it's so clearly a way to sweep it under the rug. It's not just oh let's advertise, it's oh crap oh crap quick do something vibes. If it hadn't gone viral as the nightmare cruise sure, but at this point *EVERYONE* in *EVERYPLACE* knows. Frankly I'm a little insulted their PR team thinks we're all that stupid. I know we're pretty fucking stupid but not that much!
One of the reasons why I'm insecure about traveling to a different country to cruise as a black person is encountering a level of ignorance that I'm not certain I can handle. As an American I've not had any racial run-ins. I certainly don't want to go to another country for it. 😮
ngl i can absolutely believe that most of the people on the ship are just entitled and out of touch enough to be wildly racist or lay hands on others for percieved "bad etiquette" cause a good chunk of people paid the full cruise price and still have plenty in their accounts so its honestly not shocking
Simply having wealth doesn't make someone entitled or out-of-touch. Simply being broke doesn't make you better than them. Stop thinking that money dictates someone's character.
I originally voted "Yes" to go on the Ultimate World Cruise, but after seeing that the drama quotient has increased exponentially, you did the smart thing and stayed home.
It’s like a girl finding out her bf cheated and instead of blaming the bf she goes after the other girl. Yeah, the situation might suck but it’s not the other girls (the other cruisers) fault. It’s the bf’s (the cruise itself) fault. Plus, you can’t really change it and you’ve spent a ton of money, so enjoy your time on the cruise..don’t waste your time, money, energy, and sanity being upset with other cruisers.
Poor Adita, they saw who she was and they added a zero to the bill. Likely they did the math of 3 people in HER room for the whole cruise and charged her the extra. I don't care how much money a customer has. You don't disrespect a customer like this!
I'm in my 30's and I was raised to not get up from the dining table until everyone is finished eating but the only person who would be allowed to tell me to sit back down until everyone is finished eating is my mother. Notice I said TABLE.... I'm not going to just sit on a bus if I'm finished and asked by staff to get off just because someone else is still eating and doesn't want me to get off.
1:04 every time you start with "right, so" it sounds so much like Rachel that even the subtitles pick it up. As a 'Rachel' I still do a double take thinking someone is talking to me personally 😂
Shit goes wrong on ships all the time, it's just that usually your on it for like a week or 2 so only a few things go wrong... After months it would be pretty normal to go through so much...and especially with everyone talking about it and sharing stories, when most people go on cruises they don't hear about what happened to another passenger... But also they might just be incompetent.. Some cruises operate more smoothly than others
I do think it's kinda wild to expect a company to pay for what they've already been getting for free. Also lets not forget that those people who made all these tiktoks weren't doing it as some public service, but because they got something out of the deal too. The cruise shouldn't have offered the new influencer package but I don't know what either side expected
@@CaliSaint I think of it more like a youtuber who makes videogame videos getting upset when the developer advertises the videogame with someone else. Lol that's so funny! I didn't know we had one on board, who is she?
Boots on the ground coverage!
@@shelby6 Amike Oosthuizen! Her mom, Renske, was on the Afrikaans show Die real housewives van Pretoria. Looks like Amike booked the whole 9 months. In this economy 😭😭😭😭
I wonder if there's any secret research going on that we'll find out about 4 years after the cruise is done.
this tbh, would love to see if anyone's covered the psychological aspect of this
@@saint-miscreant me, too.
@@frogz8317 thanks, I'll look for it
I'm so glad to hear him say he's not gonna try to go on the cruise. He'd be miserable, and that's not worth content.
“He GRABS ME and says _I_ violated etiquette-“!?!?!!!
I swear to god rich people are not psychologically sound. Because I dare a mf to put their hands on me over some miss manners crap because it will not go the way he thinks it will. The entitlement these people have (usually while calling the poor entitled for wanting to pay rent AND eat). Disgusting.
IK little bro thought he was doing something 🤣
I would be quietly working on a lawsuit while on board. Because oh my gosh, this just gets worse and worse...
If somebody grabs me and tells me I can't get off a bus before them, their fingers are getting bent backwards.
This week on the “mediocre infrequent cruise” (imagine this in the announcer voice)
The ship probably gained sentience for a bit, went crazy because of the influencers onboard, then decided to kill itself.
Someone needs to make this a comic. 😂
This messed me up lol. Rarely is a laugh out loud crying emoji literal, but this made it happen. 😂
I legit barked out a massively loud HA!
What an absolute ship show lol 😂
A top tier comment 😂 (pinnacle level even)
@@thenextpersonontheright hahaha love it
On the influencer hire thing I think if it had been something that was put out before the cruise started and they picked maybe two influencers for each of the four original sections that would have been accepted that would be the norm.
Damn…my son had near collision/collision on his Bingo card. He’s winning. As long as they don’t switch ships, I still have a chance.
Yeah I get why people are staying in what they paid for or are getting on what they already paid for, but why buy NEW?
Springroll drama is crazy! TOxic Cruise
They couldn't pay me to go on this cruise. Stay home Markie.
The Ultimate Cancelation Cruise 😅
What in the titanic is this!!

With every addition to this series, the more im glad Callum isnt going 😂😂😂
Yeah, me too.
Hearing that they’re having trouble getting WATER makes me never want to step foot in a ship again-!!!!
I think some of the people are starting drama out of sheer boredom
Even a week would be hell for me
So those who are on there for the full 9 months and have done everything with hardly any shore stops are probably bored out of their skulls during the day
Exactly. This is probably a normal cruise if you were on the ship. I feel bad for the employees who have to deal with them.
I love your introduction. This is like watching a real life soap opera
A dimly lit ship on the wrong route? That sounds like a smuggling vessel
How *dare* they mistreat our sweet Adita like that!
Cursed. This cruise is cursed
If only, this is just a good example of greed and prioritising profits
@@shelby6 The curse is capitalism
@@FirsonaI agree with this. I can't even believe the fact that "9 month cruise" ever made it past being a thought
I still don't understand the people who are making tiktoks talkimg shit about the cruise (which is what made it famous) are mad at Royal Caribbean, because they don't wanna pay TT to talk shit about them?? And btw **A company is never gonna pay you for something you are doing free anyway**
Justice for Adita!
So glad Markie didnt go! At this rate, the ship is gonna sink before the end of the cruise 😂
Ooooh i smell a lawsuit after all this is over.
Spring Roll Gate hath arrived 🤦♂️
Shout out to your community for putting your well-being above content that would have no doubt been chaotic and full of drama.♥
At least the captain can steer away from danger better than the Dali
Plot twist the 9 month cruise is just a social experiment to see how humans will react to being in a confined space 😂
Heck yeah! Markie back at it again with the 9 month World Cruise & with the most phenomenal timing too because I just watched some creepy ass paranormal video & now I'm paranoid so it'll be a perfect pallet cleanser for my brain thank you.
Which video?!? 👻
There are a TON of little fishing boats and shipping vessels around Hong Kong. The Philippines is the only place with worse traffic in the harbors.
I feel bad for Dr banks
Also a drunk man's talk is a sober man's walk, if they say it when they r drunk they think it when they r sober
Grabbing a stranger by the belt to say that he doesn't jave manners? Right back at you dude!
1:04 every time you start with "right, so" it sounds so much like Rachel that even the subtitles pick it up. As a 'Rachel' I still do a double take thinking someone is talking to me personally 😂

Dude, youre so funny. It always makes my day when I see you're spilling more tea. ❤
Just imagine all the niche drama we would've missed if Markie went on the cruise. I look forward to his vids everyday.

Can't lie as someone who would never go on a cruise I am loving this drama 😅
I'm glad everyone unanimously said no to you boarding the ship. It's just no safe!
