- We want to plant more fruit trees in our garden and start an orchard so we bought exotic fruit at our local grocery store to see what we should plant. We tried them all and some were awful! Papaya, sugar cane, star fruit, even aloe, and more. I have a weak stomach so this was not good, although it was hilarious.

Whole Foods Journey: • Whole Foods Journey
Hi! My name is Kim. This year my family has decided to throw out all the conventional ways of easy cooking and convenience foods. We are moving towards a new way of life..more holistic, with whole foods, all organic, and home grown garden produce. Better food, better health, better life! I know it is going to be more planning and hard work...but what we eat is the most important thing that we do all day. Food is medicine or it is poison. I want to serve medicine to my family. Join us as we embark on this new journey. It will be full of progress and mistakes, as we try new things such as tinctures, salves, fermentations, canning, homesteading, gardening, and so much more. ❤️
Great video Hilarious
Glad you enjoyed it😜

I live in zone 9B, my climate is arid desert. We grow all kinds of tropicals here. You just need to provide the right microclimate. Some of my trees are under the canopy of a larger tree. Other trees are under a shade structure during the summer. We can also grow most berries here. We can’t grow some of the stone fruit trees because we don’t have enough chill hours.
I love your adventurous spirit, humor and the family involvement
Thanks for the pronunciation key! 😂 Underplanting trees is a great idea. I might do that!
Tomatillos are used in salsas and Mexican cooking. Most green salsas are made with tomatillos roasted or boiled. They're delish in salsa. Once you peel them they are sticky. Just wash them and make salsa
Awesome! Thanks for the info! 😁
The chiles are to make with tomatoes to make enchiladas sauce and a lot of other meals, tomatillos is for green salsa
Try just sticking the end of the Aloe Vera in a growing mixture. Now mine are smaller but if a 'branch' breaks I just push it into soil and I have a new plant. And they have great medicinal properties. Some drink it but I'm with you... the taste is awful! 😖
Thanks for the tip!
That mystery fruit is a prickly pear from the prickly pear cacti. I was raised on a ranch in the desert and we ate them raw, also mom made a hard candy out of them, though I don't know how.
Thanks!
plantains are really good but you have to fry them
Good to know! I will have to try it that way next time!😂
They are a main staple of the Caribbean. I like them in just butter but they are very versatile. Lots of sweet and savory recipes online
The darker the skin on a plantain the sweeter it is and then you slice it and put some sugar on it but don’t let get black no bueno
I meant looks like
You cut unripe papaya. Papaya it’s need to be ripe all turn yellowish orange soft when you touch it. It’s very sweet when it’s ripen and laxative. The seeds you can ground it with smoothie it helps get rid of parasites in your guts.
Thanks for the info.....but I think I may be too scared to try it again just yet 🤣
