  • Can you make scrumptious cakes from whole wheat berries? Today I am putting my Soft White Wheat Berries to the test by milling them down into flour and baking them into a cake. Will this test be a success or a failure?

Hi! My name is Kim. This year my family has decided to throw out all the conventional ways of easy cooking and convenience foods. We are moving towards a new way of life..more holistic, with whole foods, all organic, and home grown garden produce. Better food, better health, better life! I know it is going to be more planning and hard work...but what we eat is the most important thing that we do all day. Food is medicine or it is poison. I want to serve medicine to my family. Join us as we embark on this new journey. It will be full of progress and mistakes, as we try new things such as tinctures, salves, fermentations, canning, homesteading, gardening, and so much more. ❤️

I also have the electric WonderMill, and enjoyed your video. One thing I noticed is how you start your milling process. You should always turn your machine on before you add the whole grain to the hopper. As you described in your video, the machine will jump when first starting, but that stops as soon as the motor gets going. According to WonderMill, starting the machine after adding your grain risks the machine jamming or clogging. Thank you for the tip on the book. I ordered it today!

I'm a very recent fan of your husband. I saw his video about wheat berries last week, and it was an instant "I need to see what this is all about" type of moment. Very inspiring. The next day, I went to breadtopia, and went totally nuts. I just discovered your channel via one of his videos last night, and I'm really enjoying the content. I have a question though, about Buckwheat. Does it store indefinitely, like traditional wheat berries? I know it's not technically wheat, so I wasn't sure. Just subscribed, keep it up!!

Cooking is an “art” baking is a ‘science “ so adding that bit of extra flour may have made it more dense in texture. It’s actually more accurate to weigh the ingredients good science experiment for your daughter measure a cup of flour then weigh it then repeat with another measured cup compare weights per cup. Fun and informative experiment for her to learn for sure. I’m learning to weigh ingredients in baking I’m 75 so still learning but I’ve seen a difference especially with flour.

Does the book go into all the different types of wheat berries and grains?

Would the cake be less dense with soft white wheat berries? I'm just curious. I have all of the wheat berries in my cart, but I don't have a mill just yet...kinda overwhelming. Scared about the bags having bugs and wasting money...super nervous.
    Mommy daughter time...priceless 💖
