- Thank you all for tuning in to Super Mario Diagnostics!
If your wipers turn on by themselves on certain vehicles, you might be surprised to find out it has nothing to do with the wiper system.
I hope you all enjoy, like, comment, share and subscribe!

The Jeep is a 2008 3.8L. My mistake! Sorry!
Super Mario Diagnostics either way Mario, love your diagnostic flow on troubleshooting keep it going! Also in the technician groups on Facebook - Vic A.
Good job Mario! Another great video showing the importance of a good scope and knowing what the signal should look like! Thumbs up!
HY MARIO FIRST OF THANKS FOR THE VIDEO , NOW ALL DIAGNOSTIC VIDEOS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED . PLEASE KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK BROTHER !
Thank you Mario. Good job. I appreciate your videos. Have a blessed and safe week.
Excellent video Mario! Love the hummingbird in the cluster!
As always, a great video. I have never seen can/bus waveforms like that. Thank you for sharing
Great video Mario! As always enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for watching brother!
Awesome find Mario. Great diag. I never seen that before on jeep and i work on lot of wranglers. I am going to have to remember this one for sure. Its better to be busy at work all day then be slow.
Thanks Mario that was a great find and also educational. Appreciate all that you do.
Good to see a new video, you always do a great job. Glad I have a scope to see bus problems, use it more all the time.
I have the same JEEP with the same problem. Where did you get the new instrument cluster from?
Another great video, thank you Mario!!
Great diagnostics Mario on the CAN bus. Keep up the good work! 😀👍
Great to have you buddy! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Much appreciated sir
Wipers and exterior lights will be on, key on RUN position and there will be No a/c clutch engagement as long as cluster/CSS off line
Quality diagnostics Mario
Great video, good find!
Great find, thx for sharing.
Mario good video good troubleshooting. Nice find 👍
More proof that you need a scope or just do suspension work lol thanks again that place is lucky to have you work for them
Great job as always!
Thank you kindly!
Great job sir 👍
Great find!
super video and super diagnosis.
Nice work as always . Reminds me of the time Eric o disconnected a DORMAN part and the car went back to normal. 👍
😂Thanks brother
thanks super! didn't know that would have thought it was a motor board
Cool video keep up the good work.
Nice find.👍👍
Great video ! Thx subbed!!!
nice shot !!!!! 💪🏻
Looks like a fix. Thanks!
Great video Super Mario 📉👍👏
Mario thanks for your time and proffessional work. One question does the cluster needs programming or its just plug and play....once again thanks.
Thanks! Yes this cluster was shipped already pre programmed plus mileage coded from our supplier. Thanks for watching sir!
As always great video bro. Keep them coming! Btw new mic?
The black one is new, but it has interference. Same company. So i went back to the beige one since it never had interference. Thanks brother!
Super Mario Diagnostics I got the same company mic coming but it’s a clip on so hopefully it will work and not be to many more issue like I’ve been having 😂
would the cluster cam bus affect ignition? my wipers will chatter on and you can feel the ignition stop
Awesome job man an sweet waveform. I honestly have no idea how people diag anything with out a scope these days but whatever......not gonna argue lol
Great video Mario! Very good information. What size monitor is that on your Diag cart?
It's a 27 inch monitor :) thanks for watching
Great Job!
Thank you for taking the time!!
Good job catching the ugly man 👍🏻 your rockin that pico bro
Mario where can I order the dash cluster and get it programmed
Great video! thank you! I have a question do you need to program this new cluster to the PCM or BCM? Or is just plug ang and play
It shipped from people that preprogrammed it, and put the miles in for us. It was plug and play when it arrived
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics Thank you!
Super Mario Diagnostics i need to order a cluster for my 2007 jeep wrangler. Where did you order the cluster?
Great diag, Mario. Impressed. Sure there was a lot more work and head scratching that went on before you filmed this video, would love to see some vids from the time when the vehicle is presented to the stage of diagnosis to show how long it can take to pinpoint a fault. Great work, sir!
Actually no, this was an easy one, i just didn't pull the camera out until i had a chance to film. I had been between cars. I got lucky that the symptom was happening as soon as I received the car. I knew already that an interior bus fault would cause the wipers to come on, pulled the codes, and the diagram. Saw no access thru dlc, so i went straight for the cluster. Hooked it up, saw the anomaly. Unplugged it, anomaly went away, wipers still on. Checked powers and grounds, and finally came around to a chance to pull the camera. Asked for permission, got the green light. And bam that's where i started filming. I say it took 20 minutes in car time before i started filming. But yeah i won't do that to often. Really wanted to get a video out. Being so busy, it was easier to ask for filming permission by telling them I'll summarize. 😉 thanks for watching buddy
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics awesome work, that's the difference between "knowing your s**t" and "knowing you're s**t". You have a lot of knowledge and a great understanding of where to go and what to test for. Kudos.
I learned from the best, and I'll never stop! Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated!!
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics keep it up, mate, learning from the best right now too, cheers for passing on your knowledge.
Afternoon SuperMarioDiag.......would this be an issue as well with a 2006 Jeep tj.....a d the wipers would not turn on?
Good call there buddy.
Great information thanks, do you still use the Micsig scope.
No i do not. I sent it to my brother, he is using it though
Having same symptom on a 2007 jku. How do I find a shop that can diagnose this properly?
Yo that 10 amp fuse that controls the wiper’s had nothing to do with it.
Recommend testing the old one by putting it back in .
Good video 🇺🇸
What kind of tool did you use to diag this?
My wipers were activated but couldn’t alter the interval nor activate washer fluid; instrument cluster failed; the break lights were good and low beams were stuck on but no control over turn signals or high beams; radio good; could drive it fine tho. (Manual transmission). I tried removing negative cable but that only worked once. I tested all the fuses and they were good. I tried the hard reset for TIPM overnight it that failed. So I tried removing negative cable, left it overnight then reconnected it then did instrument cluster test. That worked. FOR NOW. If not, I’ll replace the instrument cluster.
Is the rear light and the packing light too on down
nice one, Mario
Thanks Mike!
Mario, I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler and the wipers stay on just like the one in the video but my headlights also stay on without me turning them on and I cannot turn them off. I had to unlock the transmission to get it moved but was wondering if replacing the cluster would fix this problem also?
Thanks,
Rob
It must be diagnosed. It can be anything from a shorted can bus to a module skewing the network.
In this video i show proof that the cluster was the module that was skewing the communication lines
I have an 08 and it’s driving me nuts. The wipers will randomly move and it will kill the motor if I don’t turn the switch on and off and get them to bed themselves. No one can figure it out. It does it with the fuse pulled as well.
You are a great Macanudo on jeep
Wear are you located
I'd like you to look over my jeep
My wipers and washer cane on for no reason took to garage fixed it but malfunction light still on
I’m in FL
Why did you check the low bus line instead of the high bus line. What do you set your meter on to check bus lines. Great video
I checked both, no real reason. I only filmed the low side. I usually start every capture with 1 sec/division and shorten from there. If I'm not mistaken this capture is in the micro seconds range
Just seen the video my 08 wrangler does the wiper thing and the headlights are on but no lights on the instrument panel only way to make it work is to disconnect the negative battery cable and reconnect then runs fine
it is beginning to happen randomly on my Jeep Commander 2006, when turning on or off the key...
I like the video
did you have to programme the new cluster,,,i from over the pond so its always interesting to know,,,keep up the good work
Yes. But our supplier shipped it pre programmed, and coded with the correct mileage beforehand. Thanks for watching!
Was the Voltage average on the can signal the same with the cluster plugged in and unplugged?
Hoaxs i never bother with rms voltages on a network.
I agree. Just trying to gather data on all levels. Working in tech services, all I have to use is a DMM over the phone. 😒
Oh I see, that's a shame! I honestly couldn't be confident of a fix without seeing that waveform
What do you think
Do you think you would get the same bad CAN pattern at the DLC pins?
No, they are on different networks. Chrysler has a dedicated line from the dlc to the gateway (tipm)
Bart Young i did mention that this interior network is not accessible from the dlc. Thanks for watching!
we need more techs like super Mario
Mario, thanks for a great video. Have you seen where the headlights turn on automatically without the ignition key in? Parked outside and it is as if someone pressed the button on the key fob but I am sure that no one did because i had the key in a box. Would love to hear is someone has found that issue. Thanks in advance
Got the same issue with my 2008 jeep
@@kviz1111 I found out that it was the key fob that was making contact. I removed the battery of the first keyfob and began using the secondary one. Test the keyfob. Good luck
Hey thanks I'll have that checked out appreciate it
How do you know when to diagnose from can bus low ref or high ref or it doesnt matter as long as your on a bus line . ThNks
Usually on a comm down issue i might do both simultaneously. But on module issues that don't bring down the whole network i might get lazy and do one side at a time, like i did here. Usually they're a mirror image. Nothing wrong with doing both sides at the same time
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics aweome brother thank you.
I don’t know if this has been asked before but I will ask anyway... My wipers go on intermittent as soon as I start the Jeep . Everything works normal at all speeds. Only problem is that as soon as I start the car the wipers go on intermittent. Someone has suggested that I change the wiper motor, what do you think??? The vehicle is a JKUR 2008.
Same - trying to figure it out
@@garzilla4620 so it turns out it was not the motor, it was the switch. I picked it up in a scrap yard and it was a fraction of the price of a new one. Only problem is I had to take it off the vehicle. No biggie, the advantage is that you get some experience pulling it out.
@@pasqualeparente9776 by switch, do you mean the stalk on the steering column?
@@garzilla4620 yes
Do you know why the waveform has those spikes high and low?
marty walters noise from excessive sample rate 😆
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics Ahh. The pico's too good! Thanks!
FIRST HAHAHA GOOD VIDEO /INFO AND ANY CODE IN THE SYSTEM AND DID THE CLUSTER NEEDED PROGRAMING. CHEEEERS
j georges yes i mentioned interior bus fault codes. The cluster came preprogrammed 👍
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics Mario, thank you yes you did i really enjoy the way you approach and solve the problem thanks for sharing brotha and keep them coming.
I had same problem, so I changed the windshield wiper switch and it fixed the problem, and it only cost me $99. Didn't need a computer nor anything, just a screwdriver PERIOD.
Then you obviously didn't have the exact same problem
👍
don't apologize, you do shit on your own time!
My wipers and wadher comes on out of mow whete
My wipers come on randomly on my 2014 Jeep Compass
You know I'm copying that diag cart? New cluster or rebuilt the original?
😂 this is a new warrantied cluster.
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics wasn't being funny. We actually have a fantastic company near us that rebuilds and warranties them for fraction of the price. BTW: dont know if it's the new camera or software but video quality looks great. (And who else spied the microphone change?)
Different camera:) yeah the black mic got interference. Had to go back to the tried and true beige mic 😂
Hay bud have you ever seen this? 2013 town and country comes in with a fan relay high code I believe (memory a little foggy). It's been bothering me for awhile. I turned it away a couple weeks ago but still baffled. The fans worked fine I can control them high and low from scan tool. The code only stores in the pcm not the tipm. If I remove the relay it will set in both tipm and pcm (same code). When I cleared the code it sets as soon as the fans come on when temperature hits around 220. As soon as it happens code set only in pcm not tipm fan works great. I scoped com lines, powers and grounds are all good (checking everything with fans running). Data pid in pcm for relay sw never changes. Now I can't see that fan relay sw pid in the tipm for some reason. It looks like the pcm is not seeing the fans take place. To be honest this is the second car I haven't been able to figure out and it drives me crazy. Did I forget something? Overlooked? Or just over thinking? I know tipms in Chryslers are junk but I refuse to replace something without evidence. Vans gone and most likely won't be back but for the future could I've done anything different. The other shop replaced all relays and a couple little things remember this was about 3 weeks ago. I hate when I can't figure it out but again time and money trumps curiosity. Any thoughts? My thinking is pcm because if the tipm doesn't set the code but I can make it with a real fault then the pcm is somehow bad. Van ran good no complaints other then engine light for expection
I'd like to dig into this more. Can you find me on Facebook.com/supermariodiagnostics. Send me a message. I'll look at the diagram. And try my best to come to a diag. I'll have more questions as well.
crazy that's about all i can say
So the fix is just a cluster replacement?
In this case yes. It was the faulty module. That may not be necessarily true in your case. Which is why i outlined the testing required to pinpoint the faulty module in this video
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics I haven’t looked at the vehicle yet but I will be taking the steps you advised thank you
Show how to change it! Please
First!
It doesn't need to be program?
It shipped from people that preprogrammed, put the miles in for us. Plug and play
Mario I really like your channel your a great guy but you got the title, year, and maybe even the engine size wrong lol from 2012+ they had the 3.6l
5477harry yes I'm all over the place! 😆 thanks for the heads up
