Never before you have seen such a video! We will show you the entire making-of the PAM00968, the new Panerai SUBMERSIBLE BRONZO - 47MM. In a 33-minute video you will be able to follow us on a profound and thrilling journey how the fifth BRONZO of Panerai, another ticking icon, is manufactured in Neuchâtel @ Panerai.
ONLY TODAY: Please use the comment function here underneath. Today Thursday, 3rd October I will the entire day be together with Panerai CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué. So if you have direct questions for him, please post them here and we will come back to you a.s.a.p.
Let us look back and clearly state here that Panerai was the manufacturer to create that BRONZO hype. Today many follow the trend, but in my opinion, there is ONLY one original and these are the BRONZO watches from Officine Panerai.
Do you remember? When did everything start? (Please discover the pictures of the watches in our community section!)
1st Bronzo, the LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC BRONZO - 47MM, was presented in 2011. It was called PAM00382 and powered by the P.9000 calibre. The watch had a green dial and 1000 pieces were manufactured.
The 2nd Bronzo, the LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS POWER RESERVE AUTOMATIC BRONZO - 47MM, followed in 2013. It was called PAM00507 and powered by the P.9002 calibre. The watch had a black dial and 1000 pieces were manufactured.
The 3rd Bronzo, the LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC BRONZO - 47MM, was presented in 2017. It was called PAM00671 and powered by the P.9010 calibre. The watch had a blue dial and 1000 pieces were manufactured.
The 4th Bronzo, the LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC BRONZO, was also presented in 2017. It was called PAM00907 and powered by the P.9010 calibre. The watch had a brown dial and only one single piece was manufactured and auctioned by Sotheby´s on New Bond Street in London. The final price of the watch was 75.000 British Pounds.
The 5th Bronzo is coming on the markets now. It is called PAM00968 and powered by the P.9010 calibre. The watch has a brown dial and the very first time a ceramic bezel. 1000 pieces will be manufactured. So, the watch will be as all the others before rare & iconic, tough & fascinating. The new SUBMERSIBLE BRONZO - 47MM shows again that Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee can combine the past and the future, technology and design, with consummate skill.

oh high end horology PLEASE. they're using entry-level miyota movements costing at most forty dollars now, rather than the 9000 series movement shown here. basically precision metalwork sounds amazing when you explain it to a non-expert. this is a company held aloft by paying people to rave about the watch ... and so far i have only seen non-experts doing so, like this guy expressing amazenent about basic manufacturing techniques like someone explained it to him five minutes ago. their entire marketing approach is a pantomime for gullible buyers

David, that’s exactly what happened to me when I started to discover, step by step, what it takes to build a mechanical wristwatch. You begin to see things different. A watch is no longer a disdainful speculation object or just a simple item. I started slowly to develop a relationship with my different watches. Each one has become a time memory on my wrist over the years, tells me a story when I wear and “we” add new ones each time we go out. Seeing so many highly skilled people making these ticking wonders happen is truly impressive and helps you create respect. That’s why, after all this amazing feedback we got, I want to continue presenting you more such videos. The interest is there, the appreciation as well, that’s really encouraging...

Thank you for being able to show us the watch making processes of Panerai.I enjoyed the video and it seems that it still requires some traditional hands on even though modern computer controlled mill and lathe machines make most of the parts.Even though it is a watch brand with some history and uniqueness I cannot see the price justification. The thickness of the face crystal must be for impact resistance not water pressure as the display crystal is less than half its thickness and still passes the 37.5 bar test!I would love to have a Panerai Radiomir just with the ETA 6497 would be fine as movements are easy to service and not expensive but will stay with my seagull homage which is just as good and not a bank breaker.

One can compare a high quality, complicated, beautiful watch to - your production. An Astonishing amount of information(both visual and audible), detailed close up, strong, annoyance - free narration, respect to the company, underlining an important points, explanation and much more. Something so complicated and beautiful as high quality watches surely deserves an importance of equal presentation. And in this case, it’s perfectly matched.

Well, Panerai (unless someone is following a trend) you either love it or hate it. Although I found 40 mm versions, always bought 44 or more, Radiomor at 45 and many specials at 47. I sold some, were poor choices. Ultimately it's what I said, either love it or hate it, I agree the said model is gorgeous.

@ Darkside its infact pure marketing fluff. Basically an informercial.
Nothing abour Panerai is what they claim. They are not a manufacture but a assembler. This model uses poorly finished valfluerier movement, the same used by Baume/IWC except its poorly finished in Panerai. The new chronographs are nothing but bottom of barrel eta with DD..cases are also outsourced and mostly machined. But they market the hell out of it and try to charge more than like of ALS, GS which is a joke.
They can rationalize it by claiming parent company also owns the subsidiaries that produce the parts but that really stretching the bs..

This comment is going to be a bit off topic. Just a fair warning.
I own a Pam48, and I'm always conflicted about the use of exhibition case backs on sport watches. On one hand it's nice to be able to see the engine and admire its function. At a certain price point, I feel like we are looking at an AMG 63 Bi-Turbo with all of the plastic covering. It's cool, it's just a bit sterile and ultimately off brand for a tool watch.
With the launch of this new Lange Odysseus, I feel that is what an exhibition case back should be used for, especially in a tool watch of that caliber. Show case art, not just function for visuality sake. Simplicity in function and form can be far more than enough, but then again I am probably alone in my approach to function, form, design and overall aesthetic. Grand Seiko has some of the best dials on the market, but their exhibition case backs leave something to be desired when compared to Lange or Glashutte Original for that matter.
Granted that is a Grapes to Wine comparison, It's just a thought I have been having.
Now back to the Bronzo and the point of this video, I love the enthusiasm you have for watch manufacturing. It's always a pleasure to watch your work. As a fan of high quality work, you keep the bar high and enjoy your use of an exhibition case back on the production of the industry.

Panerai uses only its own movements. All models (= 100 %) have in-house movements. We will produce another video in the future showing this. It was simple too much to also integrate all the content in one video...

Back then when the Panerai hype was at its height I despised the brand as a mere fashionable item, just some bulky cases with ETA in it.
Now it's been knocked off the throne but coming back as a true horological brand with nice movements and craftmanship, a much better Panerai than the old days IMO

Panerai offers a variety of "simple" and pretty complex calibres ... There is an offer for all tastes and valets...

I agree. It’s a strange feeling walking in and have all the models read to be sold at discount from MSRP. I had a very negative view prior to my recent visit. Now I’m back.
