- r/Maliciouscompliance In today's episode, an angry parent approaches OP (a teacher) and demands that OP changes a student's grade. The guy is screaming at OP while OP is trying to direct traffic after school, which is dangerous and just plain inconsiderate. Eventually, OP relents and agrees to changes the kid's grade... to something worse!

That boss that fired and rehired op really had me in the first half lol.
yeah...i thought he would fire op for being late...
good to know not all bosses are entitled...
Yup. Thought it was going the exact opposite way. Nice 180 OP. That's a good boss you got there.
Dude, seriously! As a business owner myself I was getting heated and then "BOOM" curveball! OP's company has some ridiculous rules and their boss is a legend for exploiting that loophole. More bosses and managers should strive to be like that boss, rather than being corporate lackeys. Look out for your employees and they'll take care of your customers. The bottom line takes care of itself at that point.
Same. I was expecting this guy to go full Karen, yet I was pleasantly surprised
The boss temporarily fired OP to beat the system.
I thought the car broke down story is about another stupid boss. Turns out to be wholesome boss instead.
I was coming to say this. I was starting to feel dread but then it was a great boss move and I just cheered
:)
Dude was playing 4D chess while you were playing 1D tic-tac-toe.

I like to imagine that the one boss who gave the guy a raise was had just been sitting for a while thinking "mess up already so I can fire you and hire you back"
They'd been going back and forth the past month trying to decide if they should just make something up or tell OP to do something stupid. That's my headcanon.
Can you imagine being too good an employee to get a raise? That's a messed up system right there.
Sorry but in order to give you a raise I have to fire you
âThe kid still got an F, a deserved F. I changed the grade on the toiletâ
The toilet part is killing me
Company in the second story: Has crappy policy that doesn't allow high school and college students to get a raise they deserve.
Boss: I'm going to pull what you youngyins call a pro gamer move.
I love it. XD! I would love to have a boss like that one day.

I was genuinely expecting the first story to go in the direction of âIf you donât like it, quit!â and then Karen going into full panic mode when all the staff quits on the spot.
i would've loved that because she would've blamed them for "not liking her policies!"
Man, the story about the boss firing his employee for his car breaking down, I was ready to bash a skull in... Then it turns out he did it for the good of the employee and the rage subsided, what a good boss

Regarding the first story, Iâm disabled (though not on Disability), and this angers me so much. When people like this manager are allowed to continue their âcost cutting measuresâ, they start to go after the clients. Disabled people, regardless of whether they have a job or get assistance from the government, have high costs in life (my medications alone cost around $200 a month after insurance). Many of us rely on non-profit services. OP sounds like the type of people we need in disability non-profits. Iâm really thankful that the group collectively stood up to this manager, and the board backed them up.
Same I also have a disability and my insurance is a lot
If not for the V.A. I know I couldn't manage much more than a multi-vitamin.
Donât know if it counts but I have epilepsy and this boss sucks man

Imagine taking over a business over as a director, pissing off literally all of the staff, then getting removed and your ass kicked to the curb. All you had to do was listen to your staff, lady!
Boss: Corporate won't allow me to give you a raise. So I'm going the fire you then rehire you at a higher rate since you have experience.
That's what you call a pro gamer move.
Seems like some sort of dupe glitch đ
That a bug they will fix it in next update
As they say, âif it ainât broke, donât fix itâ
It's surprising to hear how many companies/bosses try to "shake things up" and think that it'll be beneficial for everyone, when in fact, it's the complete opposite.
It's better to understand to know what works, what doesn't, and what can be done to improve the work environment instead of making very blind drastic changes.
As they say "Baba Booey"
So if Jeff Bezos breaks his leg donât fix it

@@antonyduhamel1166 "what do you mean bigger tanks that have under powered transmissions are a bad idea" Germany, circa 1943-1944
OPâs boss firing OP just to rehire him with higher pay is a brilliant move to get around company policy to reward someone who really deserves it!
On the first story, were the vacation time rules restored? If not, that manager may have just been a scapegoat hire.
@Daddy didn't say if the vacation was restored ot not though. I've seen things like this happen. Corporate wants to get rid of something the employees like but don't want to sour their employees to a new manager. So they hire another manager they can control to make the crap changes they want. They then let that person go and then "find" a great replacement but fail to revert all the changes made by the crap manager.

the story with the broken down car went way different than how i thought
I've worked with several nonprofits and most all of them went bad from "power" seekers.
The last story, It kind of reminds me of the time my family almost stay at this terrible hotel but my mother decided not to and years later the hotel was on the first 48 for homicide
That last one reminds me when one day my, still wife back then, and I once went to some tourist attraction a couple of villages over. On the way over there, she kept on complaining about how I was apparently speeding, and bla bla bla, basically being an annoying af backseat driver. When we got there, I said fine, if you know it all sooo well, you can drive home.
Couple of weeks later she got a ticket in the mail for speeding on the way home!!! You can imagine how sour her face turned, when I laughed so hard, my stomach literally hurt!!!
Come to think of it, that might be one of the reasons she wanted to get divorced...

@6:45 After hearing some of these I'd say he's lucky! Some bosses would have used that "ploy" to have people agree to being fired, but not hire them as a "new employee" saying that would not be "ethical"-or something like that.

Have to wonder if the nonprofit changed the vacation schedule back... if not it is possible that that 'manager' was hired precisely to do what she did and with the expectation of being fired.
RE: the fire/hire story. In my active duty military career my unit was given a desperately import job to do between Christmas and New Years so a ship could sail January 2nd. My Commanding Officer submitted paperwork for a team award for the participating personnel. He could not approve it himself, and it didnât count for promotions. It was denied. So, a bit of research found he could grant individual awards to the participating personnel that DID count towards promotion. That made a lot of people happy!

That first story just backs up my point of what I've been saying since my first job. Managers think they have the most power but no. Employees have the most power. Piss them off and your business is screwed.
It's a good thing that the boss can hire someone immediately (with qualifications) after firing a (not really) habitual tardy employee.
Good thing for the fired employee to find work immediately with a higher pay.
For the second story about the car breaking down, "They had us in the first half, not gonna lie".
Yeah, every town has one of those seedy, cheap hotels. Greedy owners, drug addicts, the whole works. They can appear anywhere, even in otherwise good and safe neighborhoods.
Wait... there's no E in the American grading system? Here, in the Netherlands, we use "grades" 1 - 10, based on percentages of tests you answer successfully. Anything above 5,5 is a passing grade.
Being signed in the building with a signature thats "similar" by someone with access to dozens of instances of their signature isnt the rock solid evidence this person seems to think it is
People don't quit bad jobs, they quit bad managers.
The OP that got fired and rehired, before i finished listening i really thought it would be another A-hole boss story with some MC on OP's part but god that story turned out even better
The last story, yeah they aren't going to be booking hotels anymore. My bet is that they wind up buying a camper. I also bet that it'll be her idea and there will be an "agreement" to never mention that hotel again. Wives are never wrong, just less right than they could have been. And don't you dare mention it or somebody is getting hurt, badly.
Thatâs what my family ended up doing. Got tired of using gross hotels in some really sketchy places, and then ended up with a camper. Itâs super nice and convenient and the Camper parks you can find have some really nice people.
