    I’d say Kompany over Van Dijk. I think Kompany has kept a high level for a long time, whilst Van Dijk came in and was phenomenal, but he has only been at that level for about 1-2 years (not counting this season, cause of the injury). The same with Rúben Dias. He played a phenomenal first season, but the question is; can he (and Van Dijk) keep it up or are they good for 2-3 seasons, and then flop. Kompany just didn’t fall off in level IMO.

  • @victore.1509
    @victore.1509 Před 2 lety +139

    The first question is like saying Barcelona is a big club only because they have always been a big club. False. It grew over time as it accomplished more and star players become attracted to the accomplishment. Another example is PSG: created in 1970 and grew into what it is today because of accomplishments and star players seeking to join over time. Do you think Messi would have joined PSG if they have not become such big contenders for the UCL in the past few seasons?
    The common denominator for creating a "big club" is time. Time allows for more accomplishments due to successful strategy. Then, star players become attracted to the club for their accomplishments and/or extreme potential.

    • @fuaddanial2029
      @fuaddanial2029 Před 2 lety +7

      Common denominator for big club is not time, but money. Only reason people want to go to PSG is because they can offer 2x more than any other club on average. In terms of success, what has PSG won that can be considered a great achievement? They have yet to win a CL eventhough they have the 2 most expensive players in history for more than 3 years now. Messi coming to PSG has nothing to do with PSG being a big club and more to do with PSG being able to afford Messi's wages. Which is no coincidence why the only two clubs that came up once Barca announced Messi's departure were the two richest club in football..

      With money of course.
      You can't say that Barca and Madrid were inherently big and hence players went there.
      You're not born big. And fan base comes with the success. Don't tell me fans like to support a club that keeps giving them hiccups and they want to stick with it only because the club itself has always been bigger.
      Players gave them the success that resulted in them attracting big names.

    First of all this Man City fan is logical and I like him and of course he will back his coach but I have always rated coaches such as Mourinho and Klopp better than Guardiola and that’s not to say Guardiola isn’t a fantastic coach. Guardiola hasn’t won the champions League since he left Barca which is a long time now. He choked in the Champions League final last season. Klopp has flaws too but he’s been able to bring more out of players with significantly less transfer budget.

      @@arneshsingh7239 😂 if you want to say Guardiola is better, there are arguments for that side but sadly your argument is not a good one. Choking is when one team is significantly favored to win and loses such as when Guardiola’s Man City lost to Chelsea or Lyon. With Dortmund, it was an achievement to even get to the finals, they haven’t even been to the semi-finals after he left. With Liverpool, they lost to REAL MADRID (the team that won three champions league in a row) so I wouldn’t call that choking, btw Liverpool beat Man City in the QF that year with a worse team so I guess Man City choked that year. Klopp has had way more European success than Guardiola (Since he left Barca) with much less budget spending. If you want to say Guardiola is better you would argue that he’s better in terms of consistency and philosophy but not through the Champions league. Also, I still think Guardiola is one of the greatest it’s just that I value when a manager achieves something doubted as almost impossible. For example when Mourinho took that Porto squad and winning the champions League or when Klopp goes with 97 and 99 points in back to back season. Even when Liverpool won the Prem that year, before the season started, Man City were favorites due to their squad depth.

    1. “Man City will never be considered a big club”
    This question purely comes down to each persons definition of what a “big club” is. I’d argue that City are currently a big club due to their current success, but If we are going by the Liverpool fans logic then no, City are not currently a big club due to their lack of history. Having said that, there is certainly no reason why City cannot become as “big” as Liverpool or United if they remain on the course that they are currently on.
    2. “Pep Is a better manager than Klopp”
    I think this is an extremely difficult question because we have never seen Klopp with the financial backing that Pep has received, and we have never seen Pep manage a lower quality side. I personally believe that Klopp is better at developing players, and Pep is better at managing world class sides. This is why they are at the perfect clubs for them. Having said that, I personally believe that Peps way of football is so technically demanding that he needs the best players in order to play his way, so if they swapped positions, he would possibly struggle more than Klopp, but realistically they are the best managers in the world and there is very little between them.
    3. “Sterling made the right choice in leaving Liverpool”
    I agree with both fans in the video. Yes he made the right decision in terms of trophies that he has won, and yes he made the right decision in terms of the lack of quality players that were at the Liverpool at the time. He also made the right decision in terms of his bank account.
    4. “Van Dijk is a better player than Kompany ever was”
    The answer is yes, as Van Dijks best individual season is better than Kompanys. Kompany never came close to a Ballon D’or. If we’re talking about their entire careers, then of course the answer is no. Kompanys entire career overshadows Van Dijks massively. It depends on how you want to interpret the question.

    Reason city won't be considered a big club is they will always have that tag of "winning the lottery" as prior that they were bottom half table regularly, yes Chelsea also had same but Chelsea where always flirting top 4 before Roman.
    Virgil and kompany to close to call, in kompanys peak there was many great defenders to rival him, with Virgil not so many so he does stand out more, both good but honestly can't call it and you would have either and not be disappointed not having the other one.

    vincent kompany is a legend and is an exceptional defender. unfortunately he had one too many injuries before the end of his career which took the shine off him. i think Van Dyjk has been largely iunjury free and risen the standards substantially in every team has played for. made players look good beside him and changed the course of the teams he has been in.

    For the City will never be a big club debate you would have to clarify what it means to be a big club. The reason why people dont hold City as high of a regard as United and Liverpool is not because they havent had huge amounts of success but because of how they got that success, Liverpool and United both started as small clubs as well but how they got to their heights is much more respectable than Cities. Liverpool and United gradually grew in wealth and power through their success which for 1, gives them history and 2, gains the respect of others as it has been proven that they worked for the success whilst City just gained a load of money and a good coach out of nowhere and became successful in a matter of a decade. While I think City are a big club its not in the same vein as a how people would view United and Liverpool
