  • This is an unreal experience! A dream! To be able to ride my 1150GS along crumbling Byzantine walls, through a restored late-Roman gatehouse, and around the ruins of this massive site - something I'll never forget! Join me for a ride around Nicopolis and a chat about its history and archaeological sites in general, and a visit to the unique victory monument commemorating the Battle of Actium.

You keep it real. The weather, high tourist prices, and wine that causes your face to show your disappointment and disgust. The highlight was the story of the battle that essentially ended Rome as a Republic and began the Roman Empire. To hear that history at the very site of the battle, looking at remnants of the Roman walls, was a thrilling moment for me. Octavian (Ceasar Augustus), Mark Anthony and Cleopatra all come together here. You tell complicated history with such ease. You inspired 2 hours of my reading more about this era. Thank you so much my friend. All your skills employed in one video!!!! A great way to spend Christmas Day. You just get better and better. 🎄🎁❤️🎁🎄

The highest compliment, Joy, thank you 🥰 I'm so glad to hear the video inspired you to read into this whole period - it's a bit of a mad time alright. That's the official historiographic terminology 😝 I hope you're having a lovely Christmas, and we'll see you very soon 😉❤️🥰

Beautiful scenery as always. The quality of your camera is very impressive. I'm sorry that you had to escape from your three new followers and I'm actually glad that they didn't bite you! Oh and the shitty wine.... ewww😂 So disappointing when you even had the proper glass. Love to follow your journey, it's always exciting. Great job Ferdia! ✌️🍷

Hola Ferrdia! Too bad about the wine. I always wonder how wine can be awful and yet some people like it enough to put it on the market and drink it. I also feel obligated to drink it because of the expense of purchasing it and I don't like wasting it. I feel the same about food. Sometimes, I find that the taste may improve as I drink or eat. I don't know why. I guess maybe I am weird. It's kind of like, as a child I hated certain foods that I now love. By the way, I loved the little history lesson. Thanks for another interesting video. Happy Holidays Everyone!

I agree! Luckily though I couldn't follow my better nature and not leave it to waste, otherwise I'd have a very sore head in the morning! 😅😅 I hope you have a lovely Christmas Bill ❤️

Such beautiful rugged scenery and with brooding dark storm clouds I love. You really have lots of important decisions to make in order to avoid disaster, or at least disastrous delays. Appreciate your gentle, conversational way of telling us a story (history lesson) so it sticks. Thank you for a beautiful ride. 😊 Have a very merry Christmas, Ferdia 🎄🎄🎄.

Hi Ferdia! Greece is a great travel destination.
I spent a few holidays here. Always in summer, always by the sea. Greek history can be felt and visible everywhere. The food is very good and the wine...either you got the wrong bottle or you are just spoiled by Spanish wine. 😅
I wish you and Marina a merry Christmas and a happy new year 2024! The trip goes on. 🥰😊

Gracias por esto! 🤣🍷😈 Conozco el sitio, pero en realidad no hay mucha gente activa en Grecia o Turquía... It must be more a western European/American thing 🧐 Best of luck with the trip planning, might catch you in South America 😉

Bronze rams do make a point, indeed. Lol! I love a nice sunny day yet, I found beauty in those clouds. Then again, I don't have to ride a motorcycle in what they tend to bring. It's always great to see ancient construction of all types. You can go on about history as much as you want. I'll listen. Once again, marvelous job employing the music. At one point, I felt as thouh I was briefly watching that 1962 film, "Lawrence of Arabia." I'm looking forward to your next installment. Have a very happy and merry Christmas!
