    I just ordered the Cardo Packtalk Bold. It should arrive Saturday. I can't wait to start using it. It will be my first wireless com device! Your videos are part of the reason I decided on this unit/brand over Sena! Thanks

    Thanks for this. PackTalk SLIM owners however....got screwed. No scanning feature. USELESS FM functionality when riding outside your preset FM area, say er....to another city or state. You want local FM while riding? Stop, get off the bike, and laboriously hunt through stations using your cardo phone app. Takes an hour. Then when you leave the area of reception...do it all over again. Cardo ---- you blew it. "hey cardo RADIO SCAN" would have worked.

    Hi buddy. Just subscribed to your channel as your videos on the packtalk bold are straight to the point and having just purchased mine today I have already learnt a lot 😀. Quick question does have the aerial up improve the radio signal ?

    Thanks. I couldn't figure it out until I watched this video.
    Instructions that come with the Cardo are bullshit.

    How is the FM reception? It is hard to believe that it can be very good with the limited antenna length available inside a helmet. I assume it uses the right side speaker wire as the antenna to get at least some length.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +2

      @LTVoyager personally I find it surprisingly good. For the most part, if I get it in my car...I get it in my helmet. The speaker wire(s?) definitely act as the antenna (when making this video, I noticed that if I didn't have the speakers plugged-in the unit would just scan and scan and scan and wouldn't find a station). I do route the right speaker wire up and over my head in the helmet liner and like to think that helps my reception a bit:) Hope that helps!

    I’m up to date with my software on my bold that I bought a month ago. My radio starts on its own abruptly. Absolute pain on the ears. Any idea why it would suddenly open up on radio mid ride?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      Hmmmm....if the radio just clicks on without ANY voice input or without touching a button, something's up. I'd hit up Cardo and have it swapped out under warranty for sure, definitely shouldn't be doing that. Best of luck!

      Hi! Happy to report that today I learned of new firmware v5.6 for Packtalk that allows music sharing while in DMC Mode! Here's how:
      -Update to the latest firmware
      -Go over to "Bluetooth Intercom Mode" on both headsets
      -Pair the two headsets together in "Bluetooth Intercom Mode". I paired mine together on "Channel A"
      -Go BACK to "DMC Intercom Mode"
      -Play some music on your Packtalk, and use either the Cardo Connect app to share that music with your passenger, OR, while the music is playing, hold the "Intercom" button for 2 seconds then let go.... you'll hear "music share activated" and should be good to go. Hope that helps and good luck!

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      Nice! Yeah absolutely - if not, it's just a setting in the phone to "allow" it.

    I just had problem to operate FM radio using app. Usually, by touching the arrow button on my phone i can listen to FM radio but now this button does not work. I still can listen the music but form other source of music (CZcams etc) but not from the Cardo App. Do you have an idea what is happening? Tq

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      Yeah that's a bit strange. If it's still happening I would delete and re-pair the Bluetooth pairing to the phone/Cardo, then try to launch the app again. If STILL an issue, then Master Reset on the Cardo. I feel pretty good that this would solve the issue if needed. Good luck!

    Hi is it possible to listen radio or music while on coms(on Bluetooth) ?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      Yes, BUT you have to enable that ability in the Cardo Connect app. Once you have the app open, go the the Settings tab (little gear icon on top left), then go to Audio Settings. At the bottom you'll see Bluetooth Audio Mixing (or something like that). Turn that on, power-cycle your comm, and that should do the trick. Hope it helps!

    I have my Bold units now and was surprised that there is no voice command for scan control. Using the roller wheel while riding with heavy gloves is a pain. And when traveling, the preset stations are next to useless. They are only good for local riding. I hope Cardo adds voice commands for scan control soon as I will use that a lot when traveling. I also wonder if pressing the roller wheel will stop the scan and hold the current station. I will have to try that as that seems more logical than pressing the front button and is easier to find with gloves.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety

      @LTVoyager I think that's a killer idea. A voice command for FM scan would be really nice. Submit that idea for sure! On previous firmware there was a button press to auto-scan and temporarily load your 6 presets (would reset back to you REAL presets after a power cycle) and I thought it was excellent. Unfortunately it was removed, and I'm hopeful that enough people ask for it back; it was very very convenient. You CAN do an auto-scan from the Cardo Connect app now, but that of course requires the phone to be mounted and usable on the bike. Lastly, I'm almost positive that pressing the roller wheel will turn off the FM Radio instead of stopping the FM scan, but I'm definitely curious to know if that works...post here if so!

    Any smooth jazz on the FM? 🤔 As a rider myself, I always use external Bluetooth speakers for my music while riding. Isn’t it distracting to have music play in your ears while riding?

      Years ago I wondered the same but just lower that volume so it sits where you want it and all is good!!

    TBH I just use my phone to stream internet radio over 4G. Much better clarity, but it does mean you’re stuck on one station if your phone is tucked away in your pocket.

    How do you set presets once you find a station you like ?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety

      So if you're scanning, you click the "Media" button (the forward most button with the little "Play" symbol on it) once to stop the scan- then, click again within 20 seconds to save that station to a preset👍. Only thing, if you want to load up all your presets using just the buttons (instead of the app = much easier) just make sure to go to the next preset before saving the next/new station. Hope that makes sense!

    Have the Packtalk slim and am struggling to get the voice commends to work consistently. Maybe the Aussie accent is an issue. This is a major PITA.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety +1

      Hmmmm that's a tough one but I would suggest three things: first off if you're using the boom mic make absolute certain that the little yellow arrow is facing your mouth, and is close to your mouth. It's very directional. Second, try not to shout the commands. When I speak at a "normal" volume, event at speed, that's when it works best. If I yell because it's so loud around me, it almost never will respond. Third, the command has to be specific-- for example if I say "Hey Cardo, more volume" it's going to do nothing, because the correct command for that is "Hey Cardo, Volume Up". Really hope that helps man!
