Flex Seal Review - Will It Leak?

  • If you've been anywhere near a TV over the past couple of years, then the Flex Seal name should be familiar. We're not typically up for infomercial product reviews, so this is not our bag. However, someone recently asked if I could TIG weld a leaky metal bowl, and I welcomed the small repair. Once in the shop, we realized the thin tin bowl was not a candidate for any welder. Then, I remembered the can of Flex Seal that my kids bought me for Father's Day, so why not give it a shot.
First, each aerosol can of this stuff costs about $13 in one of the box stores. There are tons of horror stories when purchasing online, so you probably want to steer clear of this. Most say they were charged double and a shipping/handling fee.

He made you think it didn't really work in the beginning. What a relief for me.

What you've essentially made is a bowl, Phil.

Any sealer would have worked here. The question is, how well does it hold up in various situations. Will it crack and get brittle over time? How does the sun and ozone affect it? How well will it seal if the crack flexes or expands and contracts. How well does it stick to various materials?

LOL! I know right? Even a kids Elmers all purpose glue would have done the job here. :)

Lmao. I’m gonna do everything the product says not to do and then review how it works. I put the car in park and I put my foot on the gas and it didn’t go! This car is terrible. Don’t buy it. 🙄

I think it really depends on the project in which it's used. I don't think it should ever be used for a permanent fix for one, and two, I don't think it's the answer for anything that's pressurized.

sprayed my gutter connections 2 months ago and today I went out and they were leaking again...sprayed them 2xs, waited between coats and it was warmish out...so i am not too happy with this product. I reallly thought it would work, seemed logical and I really did a good job spraying the connections...oh well

Hello, I bought a pressure cooker from a used equipment market. It is from the brand of flex_seal. The safety valve was broken because of the strong pressure. Bean. It is a type of Stainless Steel Stabilizer. I was unable to find the safety button for the tire or rubber foot. Can I replace with another type?

DarkFox6211818 I wouldn't call it junk, but it is overpriced sealant. Silicone would probably work better. Really depends on the material and application.

To many odd things with this test. At the very least put a dry towel under the bowl so it can show any leaks. And the not waiting to dry. Ugh. Can I get my time wasted watching this back?!
