It's amazing to see how far AMD has come ever since Lisa Su steered the company away from near bankruptcy.
Imagine if they had gone bankrupt. We’d still have overpriced 10-year-old quad cores.
I see that everywhere. Yes. Lisa is a god for AMD and I'm glad she took over. Baby steps were needed at the beginning but whenever someone takes over, results are then seen over course of the years ahead and in that specific moment you can only do so much like when 480 RX cards came out and Ryzen 1000 series. If we only see how much has changed and been planned over past few years for today is crazy. I also believe many things were worked on before Lisa came, but she improved everything, even marketing side of the business.

In my humble opinion, just save up for a desktop if you want to game or just buy a more practical laptop for productivity + portability. I get that the idea of a gaming laptop is to have enough power to run the best PC games with the portability of a laptop. However, in most cases, it's too heavy to bring around. Also, since it has too much power for a supposedly portable unit, it tends to heat up quite easily in response to running those AAA games that are installed. Which in the long run, causes damage to the battery. My friend has one and he can't really have it unplugged for more than 5 mins or else, it'll hibernate.
So in the end, it's just like buying yourself a more expensive but less capable desktop. I get what it wants to achieve but that "portability" is gonna go away in like half a year. The longer you own it, it starts turning itself into an underpowered and uncustomizable desktop computer.
TL;DR: Owning a gaming laptop is like owning a unit that is less powerful PC and a laptop that is not so portable. In theory, it's supposed to be the best of both worlds but actually, it's like having the worst of both.

Great video. I would love to see a little bit more gaming tests and how the laptop actually deals with different types of games other than just giving us the spec sheet.
Love your stuff so far, love these double screened computers (just got myself a zenbook pro duo) and incase you ever see this, I actually do love the trackpad being on the side where it is, I have always hated having to move my arm to the awkward position of directly in front of me, and the side trackpad just feels so much better on the arm
Just another opinion though, incase you havent heard it from anyone else.

His review unit - R9-5900HX, 115W RTX 3080M, and dual-4K Display - is already *$3,700 USD.* $2,200 is the base 6GB 3060M model, which is waaay too expensive for the amount of VRAM you get, and since you can get a same 115W 3060M GPU laptop from other brands for around $1,200.
Outside of US, the local pricing of the Duo 3080M will be closer to $5k USD. Hence importing directly from the US into your own respective countries will be cheaper, including shipping + taxes. $2,900 FHD, 3070M is the 'sweet spot', but that's almost 2x the $$$ of a cheapest last-gen RTX 2080 laptop, or a new 120W 3070M laptop that is almost half as affordable at $1,600.
So if you're interested in any of these new Ryzen based laptops, my advice is to wait for Lenovo and ODMs (TongFang, Clevo) to get the 2nd batch of AMD supply in Q2. Compared to the Asus lineup, Lenovo has - on average higher-watt GPUs, better displays (color and brightness-wise), HDMI 2.1, better expandability (2 SODIMM and 2 NVMe slots), Advanced Optimus / MUX switch across all lineup, and far more reasonable price/performance ratio.

Trackpad on the right side as on this laptop makes total sense to me personally. I love the placement, and the double function as a number pad as well.
This is like buying a Rolls Royce car instead of an affordable car, both can get you to your destination but in the Rolls you look richer.

I'm actually glad that you shared this video. This gaming laptop would be perfect for what I want in a laptop that can handle multi-tasking and intense gaming. Even if it's not this one, I will be looking to get an ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo over my ASUS ROG STRIX II Hero Edition.

Based on the review, this one seems amazing. With the price tag I'll probably never be able to obtain one but wow, I love this thing. Agree with the trackpad comments, too, but I still prefer a mouse to trackpad anyway. Fantastic machine, thanks for the in-depth look at it. At $3k or so, it's another addition to the laptop spank bank =) but still great to see laptops performing this well.

Just revived my rtx 3080 preo-rdered version 3 days ago. Man, it's amazing. Didn't really buy it for gaming (more for editing 5.2 K videos)but will try some titles out. Was about about to throw that adapter box in the bin, thanks to watching this video I didn't. Thanks, it works brilliantly as a stand. I can now see both screens at the same time perfectly without cranking my head! The only think I would've liked was the main display to be touchscreen too (like me zenbook duo 15) and for it to also be OLED (again like my zenbook duo 15)

When I see some thermals on your tests (like here), I can't help but think this is ideal scenario where the laptop is brand new and there's 0 dust in the radiators. Like 98°C is still verry hot and I'm sure with a couple months of use it will throttle somehow.

Such a seemingly high-quality piece of technology. I have the Zenfone 6 from Asus and I can tell you it's a lot of tech for the price. I can see why they opted for a side trackpad due to the extra screen. Not sure if I'd just go for a full touchscreen laptop, but seems like a decent amount of space for notes. And it might help with compartmentalizing multiple active windows. Hopefully, stores have these so I can feel out the differences because this is quite different.

Man, I so wanted the 1080p version but its not available for sale in Sweden any longer. It's way beyond my budget but man I love that secondary screen since I'm spoiled with 4 monitors on my desktop.

Some people would think the way Dave did his video is way less effort than others, but you don't get how much you have to know about something that you don't need to cut the video. Not talking about having to be perfect with your speech in a very long shot. You guys will go as far as 3 seconds of the recording to make a stutter. This is why we watch him and can't take our eyes off the screen.
Also visually, nobody makes a laptop appear as aesthetically pleasing as Dave
If i had a dollar for every video ive seen of something i cant afford, maybe id be able to almost afford this.
The AMD Ryzen 9 and RTX 3080 are now in the Eluktronic MAX-17 laptop too.
I think that elevation cardboard thing is really good like I bought something like that once for my Laptop. But it should remain cardboard and people can pay extra for getting it made with better quality. Giving the customers an option to choose
I really hope AMD takes over the market so Intel gets a grip on reality.
