Human agency discussed in a Dexter background... Interesting and troubling.

Thanks a lot to share with us this information. I'm studying the Bandura's theory and I didn't understand the concept "Human Agency", because in my language (spanish) we don't have a concrete word for this.
    I'll subscribe to your channel!
    Thank you very much :)

We don't ever have absolute certainty in the expected results of the choices we make.
You may make the choice to recycle that plastic bottle. But you made the choice based on a belief the bottle would be recycled and in addition believed the act of recycling would make the environment cleaner. But once you made the decision and took that action with that plastic bottle to place it in the recycling bin, the bottle actually got shipped to the other side of the planet to be burned in an open fire.
If you did not pick up that bottle there would have been less reason for a large barge of everyone else's plastic they decided to recycle to be shipped to the other side of the planet using the burning of diesel fuel to be burned in an open fire. You would have been better off to leave the bottle where it was.
This is also the possibility that having picked up the bottle means that someone else will not have that bottle to pick up. No mater how small the chance, there is still a chance someone later would have seen the bottle and that act of them seeing the bottle and picking it up delayed them enough to save their life from an auto accident they would have been killed in if they had not seen the bottle. This is the butterfly effect. Every action effects an infinite number of actions in the future you are not able to be aware of.
Is it still your choice if the choice you make does not lead to the actions you intended? How does this lack of certainty effect your agency?

Causes, choices and consequences (C3). Or, would of, could of or should of.
