Welcome to my channel! My goal is to share what I know about a variety of topics, so others may benefit from the education I've had. In regards to my cello videos, please keep in mind that there are many schools of thought when it comes to cello playing! If your teacher says something different from what I say, consider that we may both be right. Here are my credentials: I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Eastman School of Music and teacher in the Rochester area (cello lessons, early childhood music classes, and a few college courses). Before coming to Rochester, I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music, where I studied with Richard Aaron. More recently, I've studied with Alan Harris, David Ying, and Elizabeth Simkin. If you're looking for my celloteachersfriend website, I'm sorry to say that I shut it down because I didn't have time to maintain it. Check out happilyeducated.com instead! Thanks so much for visiting my page.
12 Days of Climate
Get ready for Rochester's March for Global Climate Action on November 29 and RPCC's 12 Days of Climate initiative by learning to sing our 12 Days of Climate song! See lyrics below. For more info visit rochesterpeoplesclimatecoalition.org
On the 1st day of Climate my conscience said to me, “This news needs to be on TV.”
On the 2nd day of Climate…, “Call Congressmen.”
On the 3rd day…, “Divest now.”
On the 4th day…, “NY State should lead.”
On the 5th day…, “Learning is key!”
On the 6th day…, “Kids are our future.”
On the 7th day…, “It’s a moral issue.”
On the 8th day…, “Eat more plant-based foods.”
On the 9th day…, “Stop trains exploding.”
On the 10th day…, “How’s Paris going?”
On the 11th day…, “Renewables are better.”
On the 12th day…, “Gifts can be greener.”

Thank you!
I hope all is well with you and your family.
My daughter recognized you (but she's bashful and didn't say anything) at the Ithaca Suzuki Institute. How nice to see you after watching so many of your videos.
넘재밌게 연습방법을 알려 주시네요~ 영어를 잘못한 는데도 이영상덕분에 많은 도움이됩니다❤❤
As per all your followers I think you are amazing, talented and beautiful. Thank you. 😎❤️🙏🏽🦒
Thank you Abigail for this great video lesson. It helps me a lot. I can't thank you enough for the lesson. Now can you make another one for Sonata in E minor by Vivaldi of Suzuki book 5? It will be great if you can. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you so much again.

Abigail, your videos are the best and most educational we can find about the Suzuki method... your explanations are clear and objective Thank you for so many teachings
You were by far the best tutor on CZcams, Nobody ever explained exactly how to do the pieces the way you do. I so sad that you left the cello for a career in Climate change. It’s a futile attempt when we have Russia and China operating 4000 coal power stations and India much the same. The movement has started and there’s more awareness about it. So please come back to the Cello again 😊❤️
Sorry! Just dropping some times stamps to help me out!! 0:54
Thanks Abigail great lessons. Love from Glasgow.
thank you so much for everything you do, i have so much love and respect and gratitude for you 💜
“I use the Baron Writer” (that’s what CZcams CC says) … what is that?
Hi Abigail..I know that this video is several years old but I just wanted to thank you for this excellent instruction. I’m a 68 year old beginner Cello player and this piece is my next assignment. I like your straight forward approach to teaching the Cello. Thanks again and I hope that your continuing journey is a most pleasant one indeed..
Hi, I'd like the most obnoxious thing you have on CZcams. No, not that! That's too obnoxious!
Thank you so much for such a great lesson. You're the best online teacher!
I've been playing for around 6 years and just started with a new private teacher. She gave me Scherzo to get good idea of my playing style, and I mostly clicked onto this video to get an idea of how it sounded and how others interpreted it. This video is literally amazing, and it was literally like a whole free lesson. You are a phenomenal teacher, and I am so exited to browse some of your other content!!
You make it look easy
I wish you could be my teacher
I’ll have to come bach to this video.
Love this practice technique!
fantastic lesson ❤. Thank you so much
I appreciate the detail in your presentations. Excellent teaching. Are you planning to do more?
Super helpful in helping with my bow hand!
You are quite an amazing individual and I enjoy your enthusiasm❤️🙏🏽🦒
Great lesson...👏👏👏
I love this so much! Especially the exhausted “ok!” at the very end 😂
0:20 I have a trick that works great, and it's a little pencil mark 😉 Some might say it's cheating but I don't see the competition so whatever makes it sound better.
Your lesson helped me a lot. Thank you so much.😊❤
Just LOVE your lessons, great stuff.🥰
I love your lessons, really good and very clear. Thank you.
Thank you. That was most helpful!
I love the right arm approach!!
You are a wonderful teacher!!
Great! Thanks!
Nice to meet you. I am a Japanese who started playing the cello in high school. Your Suzuki teaching videos really helped me to come to my senses. I can actually understand very little of what you are saying, even with subtitles. However, I can tell that you have a very good teaching style. You have condensed in a short space what we might stumble on, and I sometimes laugh at it (I sometimes hit my bow somewhere too). And thanks to you, I discovered the music of Aaron Minsky; I bought three copies of his sheet music on Amazon and am having a lot of fun with it. If I hadn't come across your videos, I would never have known about it. This is exactly the kind of music I wanted to play. Thank you so much. As others have said, if you were my teacher, I would have really enjoyed it.
Been struggling with this for weeks. Your tips where exactly right. Too bad you aren't doing this any more. Our loss is the environments gain...
Thank you 🎉😊
Thank you. You are a very good teacher
Your videos are just fantastic!!! Very clear and helpful!
You have the best videos! Thank you!!!
🙏🏽🌺🦒
I’m listening to this video 8 years after it was first filmed- just wanted to share that I don’t come from an affluent family- and CZcams and amazing cellist like you have been my go to resource to support my 5 year old’s music journey. Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you this helped me so much
Abigail,. I realize that you've moved to a different topic in your videos but I have to tell you that I have been taking lessons from a teacher for about 6 months. I am a musician, a pianist and guitarist and vocalist. That's what I majored in college long long ago.I decided when I retired that I wanted to learn the cello so I started teaching myself with videos online. I started playing a year and a 1/2 ago. The teacher I have now is actually a violinist and doesn't really teach me how to play the cello. I have learned more from 1 or 2 of your videos and playing along than I have in a whole month of lessons with her. I have quit the lessons and will someday find another teacher but for now you are a great help to me. Thank you so much and good luck in all you do. Be happy!
Really excellent I learned a great from this video, and I shall staying on you're channel. Thank you.
Really good lesson love your style and technic, thankyou.
Very well played and good cues
Hi Abigail! As a cello student, I think you are a real qualified teacher! Big thank you for making the videos!!
