Thank you! Good-bye 1980 green and white diamond tile in my bathroom! It drives me nuts!!! Yaaaaay!
Howd it go? I have the same colours and god its ugly...
Mine is green and pastel pink . đ€ź
I felt this mines is blue, dark blue , and white
đ€Łđđ€Łđ you sound like me
I have this toođđđđđ
I have been binge watching this type of video bc we just went under contract to buy a house that was built in 1960. It has 3 bathrooms with tile like this... all 3 bathrooms are different colors. One is pink, one is green, and one is cream.
Hi Alisha! I just saw your comment! Did you end up painting your colorful time in your 1960s home?
Keep the pink!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WATCHING YOUR CHANNEL!!! I am not a DIY'R and when I found out that you and your Mom are first timers-THAT MADE MY DAY BECAUSE I CAN RELATE WITH THE BOTH OF YOU. I took your advice and started doing a DIY project. My first one was to re-do a bathroom that had a leaky roof and old cabinets. I ended up sanding and spackling the walls twice, textured the walls to get rid of the area where the leak was, stained the cabinets a darker color & base boards to bring it up to date, and created a two tone curtain that hung up above the window. I AM FEELING MORE CONFIDENT WITH EACH PROJECT! THANK YOU! FOR YOUR CHANNEL.
Cyndi! This comment has made my week! I love that we inspired you to DIY. Level One DIYers Unite đ Taking on drywall is so brave. I haven't built up the courage yet. This project definitely built my confidence and now we're on to the next project đđđ

If you want to cover up colored tiles, use a light grey color first then use the color of your choice. The black is what helps cover the colors. Great video Iâm going to use this !
That's very interesting. I recently primered my _yuck yellow_ bathroom with Kilz which appeared to be brilliant white but when I started putting on the _pure white_ finish coat I noticed the primer had a subliminal Grey tint to it.
But it did indeed hide the yellow.
Omg, i just bought a house with green walls and green tile everywhere đ€źđ€źđ€ź
@@hhhhoooojdjd Don't despair! Green walls and tiles are actually environmentally friendly.
This is a great idea to keep quality products from ending up in the landfill. The original install was done well just today the color is out of date! Reuse when you can â€
Thanks for this! I have a hideous pink tile shower lol Iâm not buying all new tile đ planning to do this soon !
Yes concrete and wire mesh is a mother to deal with! Its possible but very difficult. Re-glazing my 2 bathrooms this weekend thanks for the video!
Exactly what I was looking for. A video that can show how it holds up over time. Bought a house built in the late 50s last week. Looking to cover the purple design on some of the shower tiles. Good video thanks!
So happy I found this channel!
Great video! I have the tile with concrete and wire as you described. Iâm on 2 coats over a pink tile. Iâm going to need probably 1-2 more coats. I donât have windows in bathroom so I had to run fans. I love how yours looks so new!
Thank you April! Hope your project turned out great!
April how long that paint stayed on ur tile
I believe the cement in the bathroom is called lathe and plaster. Older houses have this. It was considered a good thing at the time the house was built. It is, as you know, a booger to remove.
Absolutely astonishing! Those tiles look better than new and the color is much improved. Congratulations on your sucess.
As a side note: I get super bugged that the real estate industry uses the word _flip_ as it has nefarious origins.
With regard to the context it is used, it can traced back more than 30 years to hustlers whom would purchace a bulk of contraband, repackage in small quantities and distribute amongst his female "employees" for resale to their "clients". The terminology entered the industry through HG and other media to "hip-ify" real estate for veiwership.
I will be trying this on both my moms bathroom and our own within the next few weeks. Thanks for the info!
How did it go?
Hey friend! You can never go wrong with white! I love it! â€
Waaaaay too much talking. Just get to the task at hand
I think she was quite informative and helpful.
Can you use the tub/tile paint on the floor of a standing shower? Or should you use the paint that's specifically designed for floors on the shower floor?
You are awesome. Love this video. I'm doing my shower starting next week.
Informative beyond belief. Wishing you and mom tons and tons of success on future endeavors! Ciao!
Thanks for, the, tips. I think both bathrooms turned out great. I love white so that would be my first choice. Love you guys.
Thank you!! I'm so glad you like đ
Thank you. I will do this this summer. Thank you for telling me about the fumes.
Thanks 4 sharing and pointing out the most important thing is preparing the satisfaction is the last coat of paint. Bim boom BANG! Or is it pip poop POP!
Soo đ wall paint only has white and cream đ€ź boring
So glad to have found this video! I am wanting to repaint my bathroom tile as well my house is from the 60s pink tile and our other is the green teal color with original green tub. So wanting to work on pink standing shower as it looks worse. Researching what Iâll need and how to do it. Excited to start this project
May I ask how do you clean the tiles after painting, especially grids between the tiles? I usually scrub the shower walls when I clean it. I am afraid the paint will come off. Please advise. Thx
Mild detergent. No bleach.
I'm gonna have to paint a really intense pink colour, so thank you for the fair warning.
So excited to run across this video; I have very dark blue tile that I was thinking of removing and replacing with a white subway tile, had never occurred to me to paint them. My question pertains to my grout, itâs a silicone grout. Iâm assuming I would need to somehow remove all of it before painting- maybe sand it outâŠ. Suggestions for that, or can I paint over silicone? Thanks for sharing your insights. â€
I used kilz on my tile first and it covered the bright color , then I painted my tile.
Preparation is absolutely necessary and it needs to be done most carefully.
when I sand my tile, it does NOTHING to them in regards to scratching them or scuffing them up.... anyone else experience this?
Iâve been struggling with mine.. so far taken me 4 hours just to do one tiny part..
@@DorisGameiro I ended up not needing to send them, I just cleaned them really well and applied the epoxy, worked really well
Funny! We have the exact same tile and even âspecial?â Tile in our bathroom! We ended up putting stick tile over it because the gold was peeling and looked so odd. Weâre renting but had the go-ahead to repaint the tile. Looks great!
Thank you! How did the stick tile hold up?
Thanks, and for the paint recomnendations.
Thanks for ur time to explaining to us i will do this
I was so excited to do this instead of paying a company 1k to do my tub and tiled walls. But this brand was discontinued!
Great video, thanks for all this great info!
Thanks for watching đ
Great review of your results. Thanks for the update. I'm thinking about painting my 1960's pink bath tub so it's great to see how this worked on your pink tile. I'm curious to know how cleaning products work on the tub and tile paint. Are there any products that are not recommended on it? Can you use standard bathroom/tile cleaners and bleach product on this paint?
I am remodeling my mothers house and it had pink 4â tiles from the 1960s as well. Did yours have a glaze over it? Almost like a clearcoat on a car? Iâm curious if you used the Rustoleum tub and tile paint, did it work well? I ordered it in coastal gray and Iâm keeping my fingers crossed
Thank you for this video.Very Grateful for this tip!
Thank you for excellent advice.
happy to help đ
This video was super informative and helpful
I love old tile quality and the longevity but I donât like the colors they chose. Itâs like all colorblind men used to install tile back then. Awesome job. I love the refreshed vintage look.
Does the paint comes off when cleaning it?? I would love to do the project but I'm concerned if it comes off when cleaning using chemicals, because we always clean the bathtub & shower tiles every other week or atleast once a month.
from what I remember I dont think yourr supposed to use anything chemically or physically abrasive, like comet, ajax, or scouring pads
I had this done at a prior house and we cleaned with soap and water. Nothing abrasive.
Great informative video, good bye ugly tiles tfs !!
How forgiving is this process if grout and/or tile have some flaws? I have a few tiles with hairline cracks or small chips, some grout with small gaps, and portions of shower that has silicone caulk over grout. It's all clean, just not perfect.
Sweet.!!! U answered all kinds of questions.. thank u đ
Thank you for your great review here of the Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit. I do have one burning question?? We have a 1959 Cast Iron Tub that was just Painted white by a past Flipper, where after stripping off the white paint we found the Pinkish color original Tub color and it look's as though they did not take off all the Gloss from original tub finish it is still very glossy. I see the instruction's say just a deep cleaning and some sanding BUT it does not say you MUST remove ALL Glossy finish before using this product to really stick? Must all the gloss be removed prior to using this Tub & Tile product? Thank you
I need to know where you got your shower curtains!!!! đ© they are gorgeous!!
Me too pleeease??
Me too đ
I found it its called
Threshold Woven Fringe Shower Curtain - they have in Poshmark for $25.
@@YoungStephanieG i found it. Its called

@@asilem143 thank you!!! I was able to find one very similar as well at Target! Thank you so much for your response!
Hi! I love love LOOOVE what you did with these both. I just have a few questions.
1. Does one box of tub and tile refinish cover a bathroom? Or how do I know how much to buy?
2. What color are your walls in your house bathroom? I really love the contrast.
3. How long does the floor realistically take to dry?
Thank you so much in advance!!
The back of the box should tell you the square footage the paint covers.
This was very helpful. About to use this product on 1995 tub & separate shower. BTW , the flip house pics are great. Good job . Your bathroom too.
How should the tile look after sanding. I donât see a change in mine.
There's not a ton of difference but it's just to make sure all the grime is completely off. I noticed a difference in the areas that the Comet wasn't able to get all the grime off.
Have you ever worked with micro concert and then tile over?
thanks so much for the information so excited to try this ! Phoenix az
I love this review! Thanks for sharing! Iâve been trying to research if anyone has tried painting tile white and then dying the grout lines black (so that it looks more like subway tile). Have you ever considered this, tried it or seen someone who has successfully?
Go to Design Time page. She did her daughters bathroom tub tile like that. Iâm going to try it too. She used a pen at first then acrylic paint in the end.
I have the towelbars as well as the soap dish attached to the wall like your flip house...did you use a brush to get coverage on those instead of a roller? Would you recommend the spray for those specifically ( for ease/coverage)
I wish you got a reply to this because I have the same question. Did you complete your project?
@@moniquecoffee3840 I haven't yet,but I did end up buying the spray for those particular areas. Just waiting for the right time as this is the only bathroom available in my homeđ
@@msdee3873 I think thatâs a great option. Good luck whenever youâre able start!
So I'm wondering if it's possible to do a stencil on the shower walls. I found this paint. I wonder if it could be used to add color to the white shower walls. The paint I read about is Valspar Premium Enamel Spray Paint
Can't wait to try it out. đ€
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this video
Can I ask you about how you redid the vanity in your bathroom? looks like you removed the tile from the 'backsplash' on the wall behind the vanity and then replace the vanity + added a wood trim? How were you able to remove the backsplash without cracking the tile on the sides of the wall near the edge of the vanity? did you add a trim to the edge of the tile? (not sure if that makes sense)
The backsplash was on concrete, cemented in and we did crack a few pieces. and had to replace some.
Holy shit!!! Wow!!
Hi! Iâm getting ready to use this in my bathroom. Is it still holding up well?
Would I be able to use this wall paint on my white, glass bathroom tiles?
What about if I have the floor tiles that you showed when talking about the floor paint...are actually in the shower? Would you still your the tub and tile paint of the floor paint?
I HATE the peachy color 12x12 tiles that they used, its like the floor is on the walls. Ugh
how do you CLEAN painted tile and keep it free of waterspouts and soap scam. What product is safe to use?
Where did you purchase the shower curtain and mirror in the bathroom ?
Love your video. I wish you could give me ideas on my bathroom. I bought a fix up house.
I am in the process of cleaning my mothers bathroom which has pink 4 inch tiles from the 1960s embedded in the same concrete and wire others have discussed. I have cleaned it thoroughly but I do notice that the tiles have a glaze over them, almost like a clearcoat on a car. Has anyone tried to use the Rust Oleum to paint over them? Did it work? I sanded with 400 grit but they still shine! I am going to use the Coastal Gray color
How did yours come out?
Great tips! I'll be doing this. Did you link the materials you used?
We only have one bathroom. It says 3 day cure time. Does that mean we canât use our shower for three days?
wow! awesome đđœ
Love this video! You're Q/A is so helpful! Where did you find the hanging firewood rack?
We found it on Etsy! Here's a link - rstyle.me/+mv3LsSDy_TvL4L2r0gkoFg
@@FarmhouseLiving Thank you!
Just finished glazing my bathroom! How long will it take for the smell to go away? It's been 5 days now and even with opening the windows with a fan I feel like the smell hasn't gone anywhere.
how is all this holding up years later? i need to do this in my home i just bought with pink tube an sink and blue tiles on walls
Great Video! Thanks for sharing. If I was to paint my shower that would be used twice daily, do you think the paint would last some time? Thanks a lot
I find it upsetting that so many "house flippers" are destroying the original retro aesthetics of mid-century homes - some even just tearing everything completely out and replacing with new standard and boring interiors. So depressing.
Thanks for this video! I am going to do it!
Can you do this method on shower tiles that are textured? Weâre buying a house that needs some helpâŠlol and one bathroom has this yellow green shower tiles. ItâsâŠugly. Iâm hoping that I can use this method, please let me know. Thank youđ
What grit did you use and how long to sand each tile?
Thank you for your video it help me a lot. But I still have a question, after you paint the bathtub can I sealer with surface guard sealer? Do you think is necessary?
How you keep bathroom tiles panted with rest-oleum clean? Does it chip away fast ? Bathroom is humid and moist.. just wonder. I you can answer - thank you!:)
Veryyyyyy informative thank youuu
Thanks for this! I have a shower that has a tile I am not a fan of. I was thinking of a budget friendly way to update it without gutting it. I am starting to seriously hate tile... anyway, my tile seems to have a slight texture to it. I am wondering if it would still perform as well. Did any of yours have a texture?
What color are your cabinets in this video? I love them!
Or if you just put in tile that had different batch colors of white and didn't notice until I put in the grout. I am so aggravated.
does the paint hold up to cleaning the tile with scrub pads or more thick course towels or bleach based cleaners?
Did you use this on your tub also?
I like the shading variations of the subway tiles...is that just lighting or did you deliberately use different subtle shades of white and grey for those tiles?
I am planning to repaint my penny tiles and subway. You think this will work?Thank you,for sharing.
Is it easy to clean the tile after painting ? Does it stain easily ?
stain is oil based so no it'll just glide over the tile
Did you use any sort of sealer?
So my tiles have little bumps on them , what do you recommend for them, do you think sanding would be ok?
Any updates on how this doing now?
does the same paint work well on the tub to? Does it hold up well long term?
Did you have any spots of caulk or repaired areas you painted over with this? And how did it hold up on the repair spot? I've got some handicap rails the previous owners screwed into the tile. I'll going to remove those and patch the holes but trying to decide what to patch with so the paint will work over it. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi, I came across your question watching this video, as Iâm in the same situation with a removing a couple grab bars! What did you end up doing and how did it turn out! Thanks!
Your bathroom tile is the EXACT same tile in the house I am looking if I can fix like literally the same lol
Iâm considering painting my beige tumbled Italian tile backsplash in the kitchen. Itâs quite textured. Would this paint work?
I think I would use their floor paint for that! I have a full video using that on tile.
Have you painted a shower door frame? That seems really daunting
Is there any other tub and tile you can use beside rust-oleum? Iâm having trouble finding that product anywhere
What if there is no window in the bathroom regarding fumes?
Iâm not on Instagram. Can I revive an email when you have a new video? If not I will get back on to Instagram. Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for! Every time I asked a contractor if I could paint over the tile they said absolutely not. Of course they want to make money.
Hi! What grit sandpaper?
I have the same question...
How is the texture of the finished product?
It honestly looks like tile. It does not look painted at all. I hope that helps â€ïž Thanks so much for watching!
willl this work on a porous tile, Or is this process only good on smooth finish.
Can you use this on a mildew shower wall if not do you know of any product I can use that prevents mildew shower to paint over
