edit 3: I've seen the anime.
He was always goofy
So your comments meaning is that when ash relied on plot armour he lost
And when Ash was in his best form he won
Sound pretty obvious to me
Ash winning made sense like his t4am turned from weakest to strongest like a mythical ( a good one) nagandel lycanroc incineroar and ash learned that from kalos being hurry cant make you win and he deserved a win
@@mandstv0709 a win that took him 7 generations to get, honestly, the fact that the Anime had to have a guy named Tobias come out of nowhere to beat Ash in Gen 4 with a Latios and a fucking Darkrei should tell you that he deserved a win back then.
@@isplat927 big facts like for one the random nobody in the finals got swept like every other trainer and for whatever reason, we never see the trainer with a heatran. “Making Lugia, the guardian of the ocean, not a water type”

Lugia was intended to be water and flying but gamefreak didn’t allow that since, at the time, physic type was seen as powerful types. That’s why they used psychic and flying. people thought ash losing in the kalos pokemon league was bad
bruh i thought the sinnoh one was worse because the writers literally realized how good ash was
so they had to make a trainer have full on legendaries to make him lose...
He could have had it all
It took a dog covered in Cheetos dust for Ash to finally win.
I didn't mind that at all. In fact I loved that fight! It was nice to see someone who was semi-competent by our world's standards and show Ash the potential of a Pokemon trainer. I want to see Tobias again when Ash is more experienced and directly fighting for the position of Pokemon Master.
@@fune9281 Yuh, I thought it was actually super cool seeing someone who was even more experienced than Ash to show how much harder he'll have to work towards Pokémon Master :D
I think the main reason he won in alola is because people were so mad that he hadn't won. Especially in kalos
For those who don't know, the reason you need to go somewhere specific to forget HMs is so that you don't softlock yourself on an island without Surf or something. In fact, if you try to release your last Pokemon that knows an HM move, it'll come back to you with the message, "______ came swimming back! Was it worried about you?"
Which is actually really wholesome.
Id be somewhat inclined to accept that except it still doesnt really make much sense. The pokemon has to be in your party anyways to change its moveset, so you could just pop the hm back on it if you get yourself stranded. Only reason I can really see is that its to keep you from forgetting it *while* youre surfing, but thats no reason to make cut and strength also a pain in the ass to forget
@@dubiousdeliquite6641 You can very easily strand yourself places by forgetting moves and not carrying the HM with you. If you need Strength or Cut to get in and out of some place, it makes sense that they couldn't forget it on the spot. This feature was added in Gen III, where it was still possible to store your HMs in the PC, so you could be stuck in the field if you forgot something at the wrong time. Keeping the feature around is a good failsafe in case of unexpected glitches, too.
The fact that Litten didn't get a cool sabertooth quadruped final evolution.

"He lost in Kalos, because the writers decided he should."
I- I got nothing, this is fact.
Apparently the writers planned for Ash to win but the network wouldn't know how to market gen 7 if he won so they changed the ending.
...which makes no sense considering how sun and moon turned out. It would make a lot of sense that ash would have a more relaxing time after winning a league. Also you look at the gen 8 anime and see that no one recognises him as alola champion, so winning the league really made no difference lol
@@largenaq2935 what I'm really liking is that they are clearly treating him as Leon's equal in the latest episodes, which is great and they also kinda teased us when Leon said "it's what any Champion would do" but it's like they're afraid to mention that, yeah, Ash is actually a Champion too you guys. Defeated Gods and what else.
It really feels more like *Look. Charizard won!*
But sun & moon were great. I just don't like how the league was handled and the necrozma episodes. But the match against kukui who teamed up with tapu koko really improved the league win.
It makes Gladion's match look like peas.
@@weebsquit347 yeah I mean, Tapu Koko is a LITERAL God. The fact Ash beat him is insane, even more so considering Silvally was also a Legendary, and Ash beat it as well, and even then Tapu Koko made it look like Yamcha compared to him.
@@weebsquit347 I don't count sun and moon because it was a island challenge the same as orange island other than the ultra beast. Pokemon did the same as kanto when they had writers block. Now if they combine the orange island with aloha and made drake the pokemon league champion I would have accepted that. But with aloha they sold half a region with more legendary and ultra beasts to cover up for the island challenge. I mean really ash could have beat the island challenge with the same team he beat the orange island with.
The "needs to be traded in order to evolve" thing always bugged me as a kid. It still bugs me as an adult, but at least getting more than one version became easier as I got older. As a kid, unless you had a sibling who also loved Pokemon, or some really generous parents, you had to rely on a friend also having the game. Also totally with you on Ashs league losses. Johto and Hoenn are the only ones that don't leave a bad taste in my mouth. With those, Ash just lost to a standard trainer who was better. Sure introducing a pokemon from another region days before the battle could be considered a bullshit move, but Ash battled well against it, and the battle kept the pokemon from competing in it's trainers next match.
@Rahul Adhi I said it "could be" considered a bullshit move. I.E, some others may think that the writers going this route is a bullshit move. I personally don't think it is. That's why I made it clear that Johto was one of the league loses by Ashs that doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. Hoenn being the other one.
I hate trade evolutions to this day. Sword and shield took it a step further and made some outlandish requirements that you literally have to look up as there is no indication or hint in the game like a puzzle on how to evolve.
@@khopps7420 looking at you, Galarian yamask

Lillie's retcon in USUM was absolutely disgusting. SM had her leave to become a trainer and USUM had the opportunity to follow up on that, maybe have Nebby on her team instead of being given to you and have Lillie comment at first that Nebby wouldn't obey her in battle, but later on she challenges you as a champion and Nebby is on her team, showing that she grew so much that a high level Solgaleo/Lunala chooses to follow her as a trainer. But no, they cut the whole trainer thing and Lillie just helps with a few RR goons.
Wow
Honestly the reason I dislike gen 7 so much. BW2 just did it way better.

Eh, I can think of a few. Finally letting you use a Leaf Stone/Ice Stone on Eevee for Leafeon/Glaceon or being able to evolve a Level 100 Pokémon by giving it a Rare Candy, some changes to how abilities work like Rattled activating upon being hit with Intimidate, adding cool evolutions to crappy Pokémon like Golbat or Yanma, the physical-special split, reusable TMs, etc.
@@rainpooper7088 reusable TMs is definitely a smart move

As a shiny hunter, the shiny locks are incredibly annoying and just plain stupid

27: Making Sceptile a special attacker instead of a physical attacker
28: Hop stopping you every 5 minutes just to fight you
29: not being able to skip cutscenes in the sun and moon games
These are all so accurate.
Since Flying is the type that basically unifies all three of the legendary birds I think it makes more sense to leave them the same and change their first types instead. Plus their Galar counterpart's pokédex entries basically confirm why they aren't Fire, Ice and Electric respectively.
Articuno's eye beams freeze foes solid but not in literal ice, Moltres' dark aura is only "flame-like" and Zapdos' feathers only produce a crackling sound like electricity when rubbing together. How was wailords weight one of the worst decisions? It's ingenious! It's the "Float whale" pokemon, because it's density is actually lower than air, so it floats in the air! It's one of my favorite tidbits of the gen3 dex
It’s also partially based on a blimp
Only problem with that is that it wouldn't really be a water pokemon at that point..it's so light it'd probably just be high in the sky instead 24/7! Plus it's never really shown to fly in anything, so I think they made it's weight way too low. Low enough that it can float up in water is ok but so light it should fly away like a balloon?? That's kind of weird especially as it's never shown to be the case.
because heavy ball no good on light pokemon only on heavy ones you need to catch for the weight then might as well use repeat balls.

Pokemon: *Decides to make a dragon master in a region with basically no dragon type*
Pokemon: *Does the same thing in Johto*
Pokemon: *Decides that the same thing should occur with the fire type in sinnoh when NOW theres heaps of dragons*
Funny that Dragon was apparently supposed to be rare back then but that makes it a pain in the butt to handle type specialists, oversights were made...
To be fair, Lance has many dragon-like Pokemon.
Also a ghost specialist like Agatha. To an extent also Lorelei and how few ice types there were.
In Johto they did the same mistake with Morty.
What is more, in Johto most gym leaders do not use Johto pokemon at all (Falkner could have used a hoothoot or even natu, Bugsy could have used ledyba or/and spinarak instead of frigging metapod and kakuna, Morty does not use a misdreavus and Chuck does not use a hitmontop).
@@PropiaRealidad one tidbit I want to point out is that gen 2 was designed to be more of a sequel to gen 1 which is most likely why it wasn't built with standing on its own like the other gens
@@unwithering5313I know. Game Freak getting rid of the VS Seeker after Generation 4, and pretty much eliminating the option to re battle trainers after Generation 6.
Huh. And I thought the introduction of the VS Seeker was annoying.
Like, it went from the PokéNav's "check for any trainers anywhere who want to battle" to the Poketch's "check to see if maybe some of the trainers onscreen want to battle, and if you don't, you'll have to run in circles madly until you can try again, and if one trainer just happened to walk out of frame, too bad, you'll have to recharge then press again to see if they're ready to battle, and pray that you're not wasting all those steps this time, good luck."
I honestly suspect the VS Seeker almost singlehandedly ruined my Sinnoh experience by making grinding such a grind.
I never liked the Vs. Seeker. The Gen 3 Hoenn games' vs seeker was horseshit, it's incredibly difficult to go through the trainers cos it was organised so badly. Gen 4's took too long to work and only let you battle 1 or 2 specific trainers each time. ORAS did it the best but it was still only ok. I much preferred gen 5's use of audino in shaking grass. It was a very consistent training method that worked throughout the whole game, letting you grind easily at your own pace.
I found a random shiny skarmory when I was 7 and traded it to my brother thinking it was a gender difference
To be fair to the tcg, poison in gen 1 was represented by grass and in later gens poison was represented by psychic for some reason.
But there are some stupid typing errors in the tcg. Namely Lugia
Sakurai actually said he didnt want to include shiny alt's for the pokemon, as he didnt want players to pick the alt just because its shiny.
And yet Incineroar is a thing
Paulo Alberto Valente incineroar’s colour is not entirely accurate to the shiny as the costume changes Incineroar’s chest fur to a darker grey while the actual doesn’t change the chest fur’s colour
@@pulim-v I said he didnt want to, not that he doesnt. Sometimes developers request that certain alts are added for characters, which I suspect is what happened here. And seeing as all of the other pokemon were in previous games, it was only incineroar that got its shiny colours

Title: Pokemon's worst decisions
Me: Ash releasing Greninga
here's my list of mistakes:
- giving pokemon who didn't need a mega, a mega
- constant gen 1 pandering
- gen 4's bullshit love affair with HM's
- how slow DPP is
- gen 6's pathetic difficulty
- how bad certain shiny's and pokemon look with their 3D model
- the god awful shiny's
- Nidoqueen not being able to breed
- Ash losing to a Snivy that was lvl 5......FIVE!!!
- pandering towards Charizard (seriously....stop it already)
- the current EXP Share
- height and weight on pokemon making 0 sense
- the entire gen 5 anime
- Crabominable
- Jynx
- Not giving Dunsparce an evolution
- Nidoqueen's shiny not being pink
Can Nidoqueen breed at all? If not, it means she had menopause during evolution.
chainsawplayin Yep. Male Nidoran and his evolutions can. Female Nidoran can, but not Nidorina and Nidoqueen.
I refuse to believe that Snivy was level 5, it already knew Leaf Tornado

Which Pokemon don't deserve mega forms?
I disagree on the Hyper Potion nerf. Before nerfing it, Max Potions were useless during the main story unless you had a Pokemon with gargantuan base HP. Pokemon rarely reach 200 or much higher than 200 by the Elite Four. Money comes easy in most Pokemon games, especially later gens which is when the nerf happened, so I don't think it's a big deal.
Yeah. People will often being dismissive about that. I used that to heal my Pokémon when I’m not in anywhere near the Pokémon Center. I heal them with berries I got left in the bag.
Or get rid of max potions since they're still useless because you're able to buy full restores over max potions :/
I mean 3/4s of the entries in this video aren't even dumb decisions, they're just things he doesn't like and he wanted to hit the clickbait number
@@Mialentia True. The Pokemon Camp thing isn't dumb, its realistic. Why would a Snom be the same speed as say a Croagunk.
Nick den Toom that is a legitimate complaint, it took like 30 seconds to reach him, it should just show the start of the animation then skip to the end
I actually disagree with tge first one. Id love to see more gyms and elite fours with a more variety of typing while still remaining them themed, instead of beating Giovanni with an underleveled kingler flawlessly.
That's bullshit, Platinum fixed that problem.
I agree, if every gym leader just used the majority of one type then theyd be too easy to beat. sure they can have all fire type pokemon but all fire type pokemon with a good movepool? now thats a challenge
think a mono fire team thats literally just fire, any trainer with1 water type would decimate it
but if that mono fire team had some lightning or grass moves in it? now you gatta think through it

I dont know why people are saying the indigo league was unfair. Its a tournament to test a trainer's skill, relying heavily on a powerhouse that doesnt even listen to you most of the time seems like pretty good grounds for expulsion to me
@@dubiousdeliquite6641 I mean the ref was dumb enough to call a ko on ashs squirtle when it was just hit with sleep powder so that guy needs to go back to trainer school.
Also he almost didn't even make it to his match because of team rocket. He has to hijack their balloon and go straight to the arena without even having time for his team to rest up or swap a mon out.
How exactly is any of that fair to Ash?
@@avatardoom you know that healing works differently in the anime, when designing that fight they never once said "well clearly ash's pokemon are hurt so he will have a disadvantage". Injuries are rarely carried over between battles
@@dubiousdeliquite6641 Well, don't forget that quite a few of the Kanto Gym Leaders just gave Ash his badges, without even having to battle.
Examples include Misty's Sisters giving him the Cascade Badge, Brock giving Ash the Boulder Badge, even though Ash never actually beat him. Erika giving the Rainbow Badge for saving the Gym from Team Rocket, Team Rocket cheating by high-jacking the Gym, and then not giving him the Earth Badge, etc. So yeah! Ash didn't "Earn" most of his Kanto badges.
@@dubiousdeliquite6641 yeah i am aware actually. Pokemon yake LONGER to heal in the anime because they dont just get put on a machine for 5 secs and are instantly healed, they need actual medical attention so again how is any of that fair? If damage rarely carries over between battles then why was pikachu exhausted even though it hardly did anything that episode? it was pigiotto that dragged them to the stadium. It rarely carries over because they have time to rest between them sometime they even have to stay in the center overnight to recover . Saying damage doesnt carry over is one of the the one of the dumbest things I've heard. But even After all of that it does not excuse the referee making stupid calls the whole time. I'm not saying ash should have won that battle, but it was not even close to the "greatest battle ever" they promised each other. It all could have been completely different if ash had just explained what happened to him so the league could compensate but Letting him swap some mons or rescheduling but no he decided it was a good idea to battle anyway because .....ash. yeah it's still ash fault for losing but not entirely. Pokemon training in the anime is completely different than in games and needs to just stop being compared to them already
Anime Logic makes Absolute ZERO sense. I agree. How can Metagross or Scizor be damaged by weak Poison Pokemon if they're immune to poison?
I think the anime struggles in such situations, because they have two options:
1. Game-Logic. Pokemon not even flinching when getting hit by attacks they are immune to.
2. Real-Logic. Pokemon daking damage or at least flinching, since they are still physically hit with something.
Yes, it wouldn't make sense, if a Pokemon, which is immune to electric, get's K.O.ed by a lightningbolt (looking at you, first Movie -.-).
However, if a 120 lbs snake uses it's full strength and smacks that Metagrosses forehead with it's tail (from which I don't know how hard it is), it would also make no sense if the Metagross didn't flinch at least a little bit.
(I'm not saying you are wrong with anything, just wanted to defend something, that can be excused (to some extend))
I think it’s not the poison that’s hurting them but the hit itself
I mean, you can get rid of Toxic Spikes by using Dig and Flare Blitz underground.
You can have Thunder Armor (Swellow would have fainted in the games)
Hawlucha getting hit by Bone Rush Mega Lucario.
Game logic simply doesn't translate well in the anime, because then you get either a really boring anime, or you need to exclude some moves from the anime.

Just forgetting that Megas existed, then blatantly removing them
I don't think they forgot; I just think they were being contemptuous then. Just look at the light mega evolving is put in in Gen 7's lore.
I think the real dumb decision was to introduce a shiny new mechanic, get everyone hyped on it, then tell everyone one generation later, "You know that one cool thing you were all excited about and enjoying? Yeah, it's cruel and inhumane, and you should be ashamed for liking this thing we got you hyped about." And THEN discontinue it entirely and replace this mechanic which actually helped some power creep victims catch up with one which was basically game-breaking in all tiers but uber, which had too strong a metagame for some of the giga forms to catch up even there, making it pointless.
