Most parts of the game like walking, battle animations, dialogue etc are sped up like hell. Nothing bad, just skipping some things that buy time and make it more interesting to watch on stream or on youtube.

smallants one big advantage outside of clearly just being better is that he had way less to edit down. crow isnt about to release a crap video just to win a contest so to fit his story hes going to tell he has to wade through 30 hours of video editing.

I've tried this with a Toxic Snorlax. Rest will recover HP and use Poke Flute to wake him up. Best use of Poke Flute.
Seems like this strat might work better than fighting normally in some cases.
It’s a hard wobuffet counter (destiny bond doesn’t work with status moves)
I like how he did this with no preparation, not mental preparation, no call to actions. Just outta spite, then tortured himself for 20 hours to beat his rival. And that’s what charming about SmallAnt, doing pointless things for no good reason for it.

That’s hella dedication to get the footage, make a script and edit in just one stream. It feels weird watching a video made from a stream during a stream.
Imagine watching your Pokèmon get poisoned and faint right in front of your eyes, slowly and helplessly. Confused and unable to think straight, your moves keep hitting the wrong copies, and yourself, as your opponent dusts off the few hits he took as a scratch.

I loved this video/idea so much I went and did a full run of Crystal and managed to beat Red with a team in the 60's (Meganium, Jumpluff, Exeggutor, Lapras, Haunter, Snorlax) Took forever but was a ton of fun!

Omg, so I've watched this before but sir! That was some good word play on describing the final rival fights demise!!! Using the first letter of each pokemons name for the description!!
This run reminds me of one of my favorite combos back in the day: toxic chansey. Super poison the opponent then minimize, softboiled, and defense curl through anything they throw back.
As you pointed out later on, things like shed skin or synchronize weaken the strat. Still fun when it works, though.

rewatching this after a while and realising the best thing about that phonecall after giovanni is the lingering psychology going on there. you *completely* psyched him out, and that probably made him "work faster", which 100% translates to panic and fumbling and on average increases the time it takes to finish. You planted a seed that continued to distract him and psych him out. You literally used Leech Seed on him to slow him down. Fucking hell Tanner

But you can't be paralyzed and poisoned at the same time in the games (but after checking to make sure I remembered right, I learned you can have both statuses in the card game)
I always imagined the PokéFlute use to be a sweet tone that supernaturally awakes the pokémon. Realized recently that it may be a more jumpy tune. But in this video, it was obvious it was a ShittyFlute rendition of My Heart Will Go On!
