About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

A very good example of the first episode setting up the entire show
"Reverend Felcher up there in his ivory shower" LMAO that may made laugh.
I loved this show as a teen. Now I'm in my sixties and what scares me is I'm starting to turn into Archie 😂
Not a bad thing 😂
Just don't be bigoted and ignorant and afraid of change. You can still be a grumpy curmudgeon. ;)
Better than turning into Rob/Mike, the meathead then and now!
@user - Did you ever think he might be right?!
@@alondralabute2310 Exactly!!!! Wish Mike could have seen into the future and taken a look at our "BORDERS"!!!!
“Ivory Shower” ha ha. Love those malapropisms 😂
Edith was very different in the first episodes!, Almost like a different person!
Edith didn't have her "Edith" accent down yet.
She was also more aggressive.
Very much so. For most of the series, she was submissive and dingy
I think as the show went on "Edith" overdid the ditzy act. Something in between what we see here and what she turned into would have been right.
@@dianewalker4633oh I believe she did it “right” the fact we all are still talking and watching is proof
24 inch tv and an ice maker! hahaahha wow times have changed
Thank you so much for this channel. I catch all the shorts from my childhood, and these are the best parts!❤
Strange, how meathead grew up to be exactly like his character on this show
He grew up to be a hate-filled liberal Democrat. Very different from the kind and compassionate make believe image he created for himself here.
archie didn't have a "view" he just had ignorance
The legend begins.
3:12 - he hadn't started calling him Reverend Fletcher yet.
Whatever
One can see everything was still rough around the edges. Both Archie and Edith were quite smarter, here.
Edith was dryly sarcastic until the character was retooled to be good-hearted, docile, and naive. Her self assertions were few and far between, and I always felt Edith was unfairly portrayed as too ditzy. Thankfully Gloria read feminist material, acquired knowledge on her own and confidently matured over time. No ditz she.
@@msr1116Aye, but they wrote where Edith started standing up for herself. But to me the show diminished, once Mike and Archie softened up, a bit, toward each other (the writers also changed). One of mt favourites was the 'Buddah bess you' scene. In particular, how Archie tells Mike how you tell a Chinese from a Japanese. Killer writers. Killer acting. Theatre, actually.
I pulled up that clip and it's still hilarious---even after seeing it numerous times in reruns.
@@msr1116How Reiner and O'Connor were able to keep from busting up, is amazing.
@@msr1116their characters grew and they all matured as actors
The left vs. the right at its purist.
Today's Left believes in using the power of prosecutors, AGs, and the FBI to target their political opponents. They want race to matter more, not less. They hate rural people, Christians, and the working class, especially the white skinned ones. And they are anti-free speech. To imply the thoughtful and kind "meathead" avatar represents true leftism is laughable.
1971-Meathead was right
2024-Meathead is wrong
Archie is always right 👍👍👍 u
I like her hat‼️😂😂😂♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've noticed Ediths voice is different in these first episodes. It's lower and she talks slower. In later episodes she talks faster and with a higher pitch. Just saying 😌
The opposing points of view between Archie and Mike made the show what it was.
Amen Archie ❤
And here Michael is mentioning the things that Archie has but the things he uses as well while he lives there rent free and nourished. Boy, does he seem ungrateful.
Mike puts me to shame sometimes, I worked my way through school. Also I used to wear my skirt as short as Gloria, got lots of attention too. 😉😉
Every episode was a play, a lot of TV shows use to be like that. Edith here was less dizzy and soft with her demeanor than she would be later on in the show. Early on, a lot of actors are still figuring out their characters as are the writers. I was a little baby when this show was on. I've actually come to really like it as a middle-aged adult, lol. A wonderful show that made Americans think about what kind of country we should have.
Always a great show
Archie is right bleeding hearts
i don’t think there is anything wrong with people who workout a lot or get plastic surgery or just want to look more attractive. however… in this particular case, she ruined what was natural beauty….
If only people who say today, “They make it all about race,” could watch this show to realize that systemic racism was and is still today real, and it’s as relevant of a topic as it was then.
That which you label as "racism" was a creation of the federal government to keep people separated.
Racism today IS NOT racism, it's prejudice - because on Earth is only one race, the human race, all else is merely prejudice.
😂
Yes people like you keep it going
hatred will never go away! racism will never die!
The countries in Europe who benefitted from the African slave trade should levy a tax on their citizens to contribute to reparations. A Caribbean island seceding from the Commonwealth is demanding reparations from King Charles and the British government. Don't just go after private families whose ancestors kept slaves ..take the matter to the highest levels of those governments who participated in the takeover of the Americas, killed off a good portion of the indigenous population , then shipped countless millions in from Africa to work for nothing.
Just what evidence of God are those two looking for?
This is a repeat. 🧐👎
Archie could hardly speak proper English. How did he know what the word subversive meant?
You don't 'give' what is 'earned' ...even their biblical narrative states they don't all get the same ...
Yea what God? Love it
