In this episode: the MTAR-X - an SMG variant of the Israeli TAR-21 bullpup design.
The MTAR's damage is good: a blend of high power up close with a surprising retention of potency at range.
Up close, you'll need just 3 shots to kill - or two shots where one is a headshot.
From a mid-range out, damage drops to a 4 shot kill - more in line with the assault rifle category than an SMG, and positioning the MTAR as a hybrid weapon between the two classes.
Rate of fire is not bad, either - 810 rounds per minute is below average for an SMG, but more than enough to remain competitive in close quarters.
Hipfire performance is good, as with the other weapons within the SMG category: unaimed fire can be used to great effect.
Recoil is moderate, with the weapon pulling upwards and to the left under sustained fire.
While the MTAR boasts great ranged damage, it does take a degree of careful trigger control to ensure you stay on target: burst firing will maximise your odds of a long ranged kill, but this can invite swifter retribution from snipers or marksman rifles.
Magazine capacity is good, at 38 rounds: or a whopping 57 with extended mags.
With care, such capacity can be put to task, tackling multiple opponents in succession without pause.
Habitual reloaders might want to break out of the habit however, as reloads are the slowest within the SMG category at 3.2 seconds to complete.
The MTAR-X is a versatile SMG that bridges the gap between the assault rifle category.
It boasts a blend of high damage with remarkable controllability, and is able to quickly despatch enemies at both a close and middle range.
Its long-range damage is particularly notable: higher than any other SMG, and on par with the hardest-hitting assault rifles.
This means you can be less timid when it comes to facing off against mid-ranged opponents, and yet you'll still enjoy excellent close-quarters performance courtesy of substantial lead output and SMG-grade hipfire.
You should be cautious when tackling enemies head-on, however - the MTAR's recoil may be quite mild, but it's still enough to draw you off target when trying to dislodge an enemy in cover.
Compared to its peers, the MTAR's close quarter performance can be underwhelming at times: with a sub-par rate of fire for the SMG class, you may lose out in closer quarters.
You should keep a careful eye on your magazine, too - while capacity is generous, the slower reload might leave you vulnerable at a critical moment.
Still, it remains a versatile weapon that is very competitive in most situations. - Hry

Haha, that's where you're wrong! The MTAR can be converted to fire 9mm rounds fairly easily in real life.
Skeletonpack So can the M16. Almost every rifle can be converted to fire a much weaker cartridge. This one actually isn't.

I know that. The game model uses STANAG mags, but the real Micro Tavor SMG uses the Uzi mags.

I have several classes with this gun. One with a grip and suppressor. Tracker sight and suppressor. And finally a tracker and grip. I find them useful.

I'd recommend use this at rank 30-40 due to the fact the perks you need are mostly at 30-35
This is in my opinion, OP. MTAR in BO2 was just right, and for the TAR-21 in MW2 [If I am correct, I started COD in BO2.]
But here are some reccomended attachments:
- Reflex
- Flash Supressor [Or Muzzle Brake]
- Ex. Mags
- Foregrip

Good class I ran this setup exactly and having consistent beast gameplays. Only thing I change is add specialist package unlocking sitrep,ping and wiretap. Sitrep is the key to being able to rush to me with all the ieds all over the map plus knifing those satcoms helps build my streak easier. Who wants to get on a nice streak then run over a campers ied?

Stuart, which of all the TAR-21 variations in MW2, BO2 and Ghosts do you like the most?
The MTAR-X is very good and every gun has it's purpose, my new fav AR is the SA-805 along with the AK-12.
I can pulse the SA-805 and kill anyone just about anywhere on a map.
I hope this is xbox one gameplay, if not your render settings are insane.
I know the laws are more strict in the UK but do you have any interest in precharged pneumatic or spring piston air rifles?
Best gun in the game IMO.
I like to use silencer and extended wt scavenger hardline focus dead silence amplify wt specialist soh off the grid and QuickDraw last perks are ready up deadeye and amplify if I can fit it

This gun is realy good :) Has decent rf and low recoil, I would supress it and run rapid fire, go with steady aim scav sleight of hand, other optional :)

I find it funny that the MTAR-X is categorized as an SMG in ghosts but irl it's an AR.
Imma be honest I was a jerk for putting rapid fire on the MTAR-X along side the grip to fight some of the added recoil, but this gun is a absolute power house

so, this MTAR-X is pretty much the COD: Ghosts version of the Peacekeeper
how is this weapon balanced? pardon my ignorance for I do not own the game but surely slow reloads cannot balance the high damage and good handling?
Theoretically if two players have SMG's and fight in close quarters, the one with the higher rate of fire has the advantage since both players need three body shots to kill. So this would lose against some of the faster SMG's in close quarters, and against assault rifles in mid-long range. I don't own Ghosts either lol but it doesn't sound too OP.
TheGildedStar The actual difference in time to kill (presuming all rounds hit) is as little as 10ms (one hundredth of a second) and no more than 28ms.
MTAR has a high probability of being a very short time to kill if either first or second hit is a headshot it will be a 2-hit kill, only Bizon and Vector share this attribute.
More important than pure rate-of-fire is how quickly the gun can be brought to bear and as high a proportion of possible shots actually hitting.
Slow reloads, bad sights, and the recoil, while mild compared to say, the CBJ-MS or really any SMG but the VEPR, is still incredibly aggressive when compared to AR and LMG class weapons.
The FAD is a good comparison to the MTAR-X. Similar magazines, and nearly identical damage profile (the MTAR has a 1/2 headshot kill while the FAD requires a 2/2). They both have long reloads, with 4 second empty reloads and 2 second cancels. The FAD falls about halfway between a default MTAR-X and a RF MTAR-X with regards to rate of fire. Both have fairly occlusive sights, although I find the FAD sights significantly less offensive. The FAD has really stable recoil out to a mid range through long bursts however, and can really take advantage of the 4shot ranged kills, and oddly is one of the better long range assault rifles thanks to it. The MTAR just has too much recoil to really take advantage of it's 4 shot damage minimum, unless you're running with Grip and no RF, in which case it suffers pretty handily in close range encounters.
Aaron Allen Going by Symthic, MTAR-X has very comparable recoil with other SMGs.
Considering all weapons effectively have bling option with 2 add-ons (and small perk-point costs for 3 add-ons) so red-dot usually alleviates sights problem for any weapon. See, 38 rounds does well enough that extended mags isn't a requirement so you can get red-dot, on the flip side, getting extended mags but left with iron sights... none of the irons are that good.
I'd say only for the Ak12 is Red-dot really of questionable worth.
