Ameli - Call of Duty Ghosts Weapon Guide

- In this episode: the Ameli - A Spanish LMG derived from the German MG3, developed by the same department as the G3 battle rifle.
The Ameli's damage is high: it is the only light machine gun capable of killing with two shots anywhere to the body at a close range.
At a distance, damage steadily drops to a 4 shot kill - outside of your two-shot kill range it's important to remain in a good covered position, else other rifles may best you.
Rate of fire is low, at just 631 rounds per minute: this means it's important to aim your shots, as your two-shot ability will require accurate direction to be effective.
From the hip, you will find performance underwhelming: the large spread typical of LMGs and slower output makes for inconsistent performance, with SMGs and shotguns having a clear edge in unexpected firefights.
Recoil is moderate, with high per-shot kick moderated by the slower rate of fire.
Firing in short bursts will help keep any drift in your aim in check, and will prolong your magazine to help provide a sustained defence.
The LMG's key strength is in such longevity, rather than pinpoint accuracy - in many cases sheer volume of fire can prove more effective than pausing for accuracy.
Aim time is quite slow, at 350 milliseconds: this means it's best to plan your defensive position ahead of time, rather than running and gunning with the weapon.
Movement speed is also slow: as with most of the LMGs, you'll move at 80 percent of the base speed.
However, magazine capacity is very generous, at 100 rounds: paired with the slow rate of fire, such supply means the Ameli is perhaps the best choice for sustained defence of an objective.
Unfortunately, reload times are painful: a full seven seconds for a resupply means you'll be reliant on your teammates to provide cover while you are left vulnerable.
When building an LMG class, it normally makes sense to focus on survivability and resilience: this way, you can make more effective use of the weapon in the defensive role it was designed for.
The Ameli excels at close-range lockdown, where you can make use of its higher damage and sustained fire to repel enemy attackers.
While you can engage targets at long range with suppressive fire, the damage drop means it can be difficult to secure kills, with more precise weapons able to drop you faster.
For your attachments, the Muzzle Brake is an option that will extend your two-hit kill range: a vital trait of the weapon that can make or break your defence.
The difference between a two and three shot kill is substantial, and given the slower rate of fire it's definitely worthwhile investing in the superior range.
Given the substantial recoil of the Ameli, the Fore Grip can be worthwhile too - taming your weapon's kick to better take advantage of automatic fire.
For your perks, Blast Shield is perhaps the most sensible choice for any defensive set: with its resistance blunting your enemy's explosive options, and forcing them into direct combat.
Tac Resist is a great addendum, rounding out your defensive abilities to cover tactical grenades as well, and making sure your vision is always clear.
ICU speeds health recovery, and will do much to help sustain your defence - otherwise you might become increasingly fragile as incoming shots chip away at your health reserves.
Beyond this, it can also be wise to invest in the Trophy System if you want to lock down a single location - with its ability to instantly neutralise enemy grenades, saving both yourself and teammates from any damage whatsoever.
Alternatively, you could use the Extra Attachment perk if you'd like an optic on your weapon - or add in Armor-Piercing rounds for rapid killstreak and cover denial.
With these options, you won't be the fastest on the battlefield - but you will prove particularly stubborn to dislodge from your position, and you'll be able to emit an astounding level of defensive fire.
The Ameli is the most powerful automatic weapon in Call of Duty Ghosts, with immense potential damage at a close range.
This means you're able to quickly despatch incoming attackers with just two shots, making for a potent defence capable of shutting out even the most determined.
Paired with the high capacity magazine you'd associate with an LMG, you'll hit hard and go long: with few weapons able to offer such sustained support.
However, the weapon offers lumbering performance with a lethargic rate of fire: meaning patience and preparation are key, and reactive fire a critical weakness of the weapon.
Attempting to keep pace with nimbler opponents will only yield failure, with both the poor hipfire performance and slow aim time conspiring against you.
Still, there are no weapons better suited for sustained defence than the LMGs, and within their niche they do perform very well.
Should you need to steel yourself for an incoming assault - don't rely on some tin pot weapon: instead, equip the Ameli...
...for a cast iron defence. - Hry
I looked up the Ameli in real life.
Recoil is so low that there is almost none and it's RoF is; 800 - 1,200 rounds/min.
This means that the in game Ameli was greatly nerfed. :P
Wow. It usually is the other way around when going from real life to games :O
I was suprised too. But having a gun as strong as the M60 having little to no recoil and a RoF as fast if not faster then the SAW would be OP. XD
Bob Builder Even more suprising is that it takes the M60's place in this game, yet it has 5.56mm rounds, not the 7.62 of the M60. :P
Daniel Bridges Seems like guns replace other guns roles throughout the COD eras albeit nerfed. There is usually a high capacity SMG, and it went from a 71 bullet clip (PPSH-41) to 50 bullet clip (P90) to a slower fire rate (PDW-57).
Or the Drum Mag LMG's. WAW started with a 125 bullet clip and incredibly fast MG42 (Everyone used it and it reloaded in like 3 seconds) (DP42 is a different story), then it slowed down a bit with the RPK and HK (Whatever the number), and the mag size went down to like 80 if I remember correctly. Then in BO2 it is 75 with more recoil.
I am only speaking for the evolution of Treyarch weapons. Never played Modern Warfare multiplayer, except for when I am with a friend. :(
DarthDragon007 an mg42 has 1200 rof thanks to its big cartridges. the bigger the cartridge the bigger the recoil, the faster it shoots because it rechambers faster.
I always thought of a sweet, little girl when I hear this gun's name...yet it slaps you hard like an adult woman.
lol unfiltered honesty
You aren’t wrong.
ever heard of girls frontline lol
ERIKA!
Amelia
LOL 631 RPM for a 1100 RPM Gun IRL. COD Logic.
And an 880 rpm for a 550 rpm gun IRL...
Nerf or balance please think about those
most guns are like this, the k7 should be 1100, the bizon and cbj shoudl be 700, the sc 2010 and fad are 550, the arx is 700, the particular model of the ak 12 in game is 600, the vks is bolt action. Even most of the magazine sizes are wrong such as all of the dmrs as well as the bizon( 64 rounds irl) and cbj (100 rounds irl)
@@thatsaucyman7719 you can easily balance the weapons and still have realistic fire rate. Reduce its damage range, give it more recoil etc
Let's see who's here after the Season 4 update to Cold War Warzone.
Deadeye is great for this gun as well. It extends the effective 2 hit range and causes massive flinch. 70 damage from one shot will instantly kill most injured enemies as well. It also works surprisingly well as a spray weapon when you use rapid fire and run with it.
mg42 based gun with a low fire rate..... cod at its finest
He said mg3
@@LONEWOLF109 and mg3 is just mg42 rechamber in nato round
@@chin258456 Just that this MG doesnt use the same mechanism ... it is not based in the mg42...
MG3....
The Division got it right, the 'Big Alejandro' (an exotic lmg they introduced in DLC, it was an Ameli) is a 1000rpm bullethose in that game lol.
Only IW can take a weapon based on another legendary for its rate of fire and make it really slow... Its based on the mg42... 1200 rpm, you might have heard about it.
It's externally based on the MG42, but otherwise it's not. One key feature that's different is the use of the delayed blowback system. While it isn't the best for an LMG, it still can be 1200 RPM, but I have heard that it's been clocked as low as about 800 RPM, but that's due to some jams and parts failing in the blowback system.
***** It depends if you but an heavy or an light bolt in the internal
an heavy bolt lowers the firerate
sledgehammer made the same mistakes with the mg42 in ww2 firing at only 650 and mg15 (about 1000 rpm irl) at 722. treyarch did the best asides from the an 94 which fire the first two shots at 1800 RPM
Sledgehammer really fucked up the 42 in ww2
@@kennooo535 by making sure it’s not the only weapon you see?
Ameli with Rapid Fire and Foregrip, Ready Up, Agility, Marathon, Stalker, and Quickdraw.
This loadout will increase your speed to help your freely roam about the map and compete against more mobile opponents. At the same time this takes advantage of its high damage and buffing it further by increasing its output, thus decreasing time to kill by a matter of seconds. You'll even have a chance to take on shotgun users at close quarters battles. This loadout is therefore best suited specifically for games played on Strikezone; know where your enemies are, take flanking routes, and you'll be able to meticulously tear through the entire opposition.
Did you watch my Ameli vid? Cause that build is nearly the same (minus the holographic sight) for the aggressive build in the vid lol
***** I don't know who you are. nor have I seen your videos but that is my Ameli class.
Those are the perks everyone uses.
Trying to use an LMG as an SMG isn't particularly effective...
Edit: I'm 5 years late lmao.

These videos really help me on deciding which weapons to spend my skill points on, good work, keep it up.
Rewatching old guides. I miss u so much dude.
Just thought i'd mention this, i picked up an Ameli with a silencer on Overlord once and i was a bit skeptical at first but i was actually surprised at how well it performed i would definitely recommend giving the silencer a go as well :)
one of my fav weapons in the game, just love the sound of it. sounds so hard and powerful
I feel like im watching the discovery or history channel when you do these weapon guides. Love it and keep it up..
Glad to see an LMG review. I've seen so many people review the AK-12.
In my opinion, the Ameli more resembles the german WW2 MG42 due to it's barrel, and overall size and fire rate
I love this gun! I think rapid fire and foregrip make an amazing combo, (much better than other guns with rf) and also lots of speed perks including q-draw
This gun really is a beast. Every time I pick it up it is a monster. Still haven't built a class specifically around it but when I pick it up I'm running a general AR rusher class and it performs well. Though I do think the class suggested in the video would be the best use of perks if you are in dom or other obj types. Imagining that class behind the bar in Strikezone or back bar locking down B....you could get a legit K.E.M. on that map doing that with this gun.
Loving your work Xboxahoy
I am a real fan of your weapon guides
Really useful tips to help me do well in ghosts
why reduce the rate of fire? A real Ameli fires around 1000 rpm
The Ameli with suppressor and rapid fire destroys at almost any range. Its awesome.
HK G3 is derived from Spanish assault rifle CETME (a derived version of STG44, like AK47), not the opposite.
West gemany goverment bought the license at the begining of 50'
correction: STG45 is what the CETME is derived from.
I would use quickdraw and possibly rapid fire with this class, making it also useful in close quarters combat and unexpected encounters.
No Stu! You should have gone with "Equip the Ameli, to make a good addition to your family"
Stu??

the reason y the ameli is sometimes better at a sustained fire over bursts is cause it actually has a 10% INCREASE in recoil for the first like 10? shots
25% for the first three actually, you've seem to have gotten it mixed up with the fad which has it's recoil decreased by 10% for the first ten shots.
Awesome stu :) keep up the good work
Great as usual
Great videos XboxAhoy! I am not sure who directs what videos you make next or how that all works, but I found the Time to Kill videos of MW3 to be the most informative. They dealt with more of the mechanics of the game itself (ie. damage, optics, perks, killstreaks). Don't get me wrong, the gun videos are informative, but I have so many more pressing questions about Ghosts, like how much health do the different juggs have, how does deadeye, danger close, etc all work? I would rather see videos explaining all of the questionable mechanics of the game, and then see videos about each gun, just my opinion though.
Like I said, I am not sure if it is up to you what videos you make next, but if it is, I would love to see some more Time to kill type videos. Either way, all your videos are amazing and you do a great job, and I'll be sure to watch whatever you release.
Can we just admit how great the puns on each video are?
Great vid.
Love your vids so so much helps out a lot
I don't have COD Ghost but I still watch your video.
I've missed you! Rough Christmas break because of lack of videos.
Forgrip & rapid fire & this gun is a beast.
The iron sights look like the ones from a MP44.
Indeed!
LMG's are getting better every game! Finally =) - Fariko RubixisNL
Looks like the resembles the M60E4 in the aesthetics department. It even has a similiar ROF to the M60. Then it has BO2 AN-94 style iron sights.
Do you mean the AN-94's rear iron visor attachment?
I actually don't know why they use that, the AN-94 already had iron sights, the rear post is near the handle, like the FAL in previous games.
Well, not surprised, since the M60 took many cues from the MG42. As he said, the Amali is based off of the MG3, which is basically the MG42.
@The Major League Ginger
The MG42 under modern german military service is known as the MG2, the MG2 being a modification to fire NATO standard 7.62x51mm rounds. The MG3 is a "modern" LMG based on the MG2, used in the same role as the MG2 and MG42 before it. The M60 is a half-copy of the MG42 design.
The CETME AMELI is a dirivitive of the MG42, MG45 prototype, MG3, and normal CETME model spanish assault rifles, such as the CETME L variant. The AMELI in real life is designed for assaulting positions, and is chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO. Due to material restrictions by the Spanish Military, the AMELI is pretty much hated by members of the Spanish marines, who note that the weapon's design is good, but the actual units are of less quality than the MG3's and MG42's they were issued before the AMELI's entered service.
In short, the CETME AMELI is a cousin of the MG42, but is closer to german/spanish designs by CETME company, rather than the 1940's designs of the german army.
(extra fun fact, the U.S. military has it's own MG42's, They're green if I recall and their designation is "MG-76.")
@Urobouros Null
As for the AN94's addon sights in Black Ops 2, have you ever seen the rear sights on an AN94? It's literally a rectangle with a hole in it, and in my experience of using the gun (in games), any game that uses the original rear sight puts you at a disadvantage (like in BF3). So games like BLOPS 2 and STALKER change the rear sight for the sake of better player vision. The sight addon in BLOPS 2 is actually a pretty genius way of avoiding the AN-94's shitty rear sight.
I love making stealth lmg builds, it seems odd, but you've got no reloading or power to worry about, just awareness stealth and speed, it's so much more fun, you'll get caught off guard by close range weapon users still but if you use your corners and creeping around in the right manner, enemies start dropping suddenly and then when they all try taking you on you just boost your KD cus you've got a crowd control weapon and they don't, it's so fun
Happy New Year, Stu!
I always knew the MG 82 was similar.
Hey Stu, you never seem to answer my questions so I would like to ask this question and hopefully get an answer. Did you ever try Squads Mode on Call of Duty: Ghosts? If so, what do you think of it? (Yes, I will ask this question twice on the Bonus Video and the recent weapon guide.)
I love this beast
Ameli with grip and AP in maps like warhawk just shreds people apart.
This is my favorite gun.
lmgs are epic
I also forger scavenger, and play search and rescue, it is the best game mode for the Ameli
You should play a FFA with FASE RAIN, 9 LIVES,A-ALI and all you guys casting stream live and post your videos on youtube. Nice works and keep it up.
i actually find this weapon a lot better for run and gun tactics with rapid fire grip stalker and agility , other stuff are up to you. cheers good video as always
I just like it with Muzzle Break & Rapid Fire.
Stu, do you find it annoying that this COD has no lock-on launcher? When an enemy calls in a Battle Hind or Helo Pilot, it makes it especially hard to take down.
I didn't even think about that until now. But it doesn't matter to me, because I don't even play this game anymore.
Bullet damage works extremely well on helicopters, especially with Armor Piercing.
The Helos are easy to shoot down, if everyone puts a mag in it itll go down in seconds. its just bad players who dont. sadly this game is awful. Truly awful.
I think it's actually one of the best features in the game; it used to be that one of my class slots was permanently occupied by an anti-air class, but by dropping the launchers and going with other forms of anti-air, I no longer lose that class slot.
Pippin I feel like Ghosts isn't really that bad, rather everyone is just burnt out on cod
Ameli, ameli, ameli, ameli - meli
Thats what i was saying too 😂😂
Nice video
Hello Mr. Brown, do you think Call of Duty is getting further and further away from trying to making their guns similar to their real life counterparts?
Having seen this video, I was surprised to see that the Ameli featured only a very moderate rounds per minute, whereas the Mg 3s main trade is its unusually high rate of fire.
Now I'm a little proud of being Spanish, looks like this AMEtralladora LIgera (LMG) is more powerful than I thought.
I can tell the Octane clips near the end were on the Xbox One. For some reason, that map looks so much different on next-gen, lol.
Ya your back
Nice vid
AMELI AMELI A A-MELI AMELI
I don't know why, but I like his accent.
That's why I subscribed, lol O_O
Ameli class setup is the best class to use. It makes it harder for the enemy to kill you.
dear xbox ahoy..... i would like to thank you for making me fall in love with this gun... my first game on ghosts today i put on an ameli with muzzle brake foregrip and rapid fire and went 30-11 in a FFA game without even breaking a sweat... i love this gun....
and then the very next game i went 17-0 to start off the game nd finished 25-4.... this gun is the definition of BEAST
I usually used a red dot sigth and muzzle brake on this weapon and honestly it was very good even though it was unconventional
Alright stu if you're still on the fence about the history segment the next episode is the one to do it, please as a favor? I love HK.
Salutations Stu, I was wondering if you have ever played the Age of Empires series, and if so, what do you think of it?
3 points for FMJ, smart. Maybe those 3 points should go towards Stalker or Quickdraw, or Amplify, or Dead Silence.
this LMG has the same iron sight as the stg-44 from WAW
I don't even own this game (or plan on it), I just like hearing Stu talk.
flash hider, forgrip, focus, light weight, stalker, and blast shield
There was a gun that looked exactly like this in the amazing bfbc2 called the mg3, and it fired extremely fast and had very low damage
BFBC 2, still the best shooter imo.
It wasn't called the MG3, it WAS the MG3
Stu, what headset are you using? I use the tritton triggers
I always learn new words when watching your vids stu ;)
Anyone tried this rapid fire?
I always run Rapid Fire and Foregrip, it's a monster.
Big Alejandro baby
AMELI with rapid fire and fore grip is like firing a MG42
A question about Fallout:
How would you like the skills and levelling up to be implemented? Do you prefer Skyrim's idea of gaining experience in a skill further progresses performance, or do you prefer Fallout's idea of killing things allows you to know everything about hacking computers?
Skyrim's way is MUCH MUCH better
I like Skyrims much better then fallout leveling system, just because its stupid that i can learn gun skills while im using it, and same goes with hacking and lockpicking, medical, etc makes more sence to have it that way. but that just my view on it
i use the ameli with foregrip and silencer. i slowly move about around map picking off most enemies i encounter
Are you gonna review the ripper, maverick, and maverick a2
Stuart why didn't you recommend to have Sleight of Hand to counter the slow reload?
Muzzle Break and Rapid Fire... Just give that combination a try and see what you can do with it.
This gun is so OP
How OP?
Ameli in Warzone and Cold War = OP
I'd swap tactical resist for slight of hand because you simply don't run into that many tactical grenades.
the Ameli is my best gun I use it with acog and foregrip
Grip and Silencer
Ready Up, Quickdraw, Stalker, Focus, Amplify
I was thinking ready up & stalker as well. Though I was going to forgo the silencer for the one that takes away all of the flash (not familiar with the name); I figured one might as well let the LMG be loud as is its nature.
Just tried this exact class.. very nice. Bravo!
Will you start doing secondary weapons after all the primary weapons are finished and released? Or will you be doing them whenever you see fit?
I believe he said he won't be doing secondaries.
Oh ok
Min damage is 30, so you only need one headshot or dead eye shot to get 3 shot at long range. Best lmg for deadeye
STG-44 sights
ok can people with no gun knowledge stop talking? Iron sights are not like other optics. Unless they are aftermarket sights, usually iron sights are different for each gun. They didn't take the STG sights and put them on the ameli......it''s just that the Ameli iron sights, designed for that gun, just happen to be similar to the STG sights. However, they are not the exact same sights.
Japback13
he never said they copied the sights, he was just making a point that they look similar
Let me guess: You now upload videos once a week, every friday, agian like you did in Call of Duty Black Ops 2? :D
Thats good, i hope that the videos will keep being good, and now i know when you upload! :D (i have waied!!!)
Jacob Rixen No, we're back to 3 or 4 a week - I just had a break over Christmas.
+Ahoy when are you going to be coming back to the weapon guides
Could you start making weapon guides for bf4?
Last time I checked, the CETME Ameli had the *low* damage of a 5.56x45mm NATO round and a *high* fire-rate of 1200rpm, at least in reality....
nice
Stalker is a good perk for this weapon
Hi Stu i'm guessing you are still trying to get most guns gold if so how are you finding the leaning challenge i find it really frustrating.I find i get out gunned more than if i'm not leaning. Also good vid the best lmg in my opinion.
It's the ghosts version of the MK48 in bo2
Nice
I would have thought a secondary would be a wise option due to the long reload time
The Emily.
Stu, some weapons have rapid fire, can you tell us what the rounds per minut is with rapid fire to?
Can u do attachment giudes to like u did with bo2
Stu, it is true that you get substantial less views because GHOSTS is not that good of a game. When people say its because of the lack of the history of a weapon, its because we miss them. Maybe you could include it in your bonus. Those who see this , pleas inform Mr. Brown for me.
Now I want to try a class with this instead of the M27.
How did I stumble into this dark and sad part of CZcams
