In this episode, we're covering the third LMG - the M60.
It's a fully automatic weapon, unlocked at level 21.
Originating from the United States, the M60 has served with every branch of the US military since its introduction in 1957.
The M60's roots can be traced in part to the German machine guns of World War 2, such as the MG42 and FG42, and the earlier American Browning Automatic Rifle and M1919A6 Machine Gun.
The M60 saw its first major usage in the Vietnam War after its adoption, where it was employed as both a squad automatic weapon and as a medium machine gun, mounted on Patrol Boats, APCs and Helicopters.
Informally known as 'the pig', presumably for its hefty weight and insatiable appetite for lead - the M60 remains in use today, although has been supplanted somewhat by the M240.
As a general purpose machine gun, the M60 fires the full-size 7.62 by 51 millimetre NATO cartridge, from a distintegrating belt of linked ammunition.
Belt length is 100 rounds in-game, or a whopping 200 when paired with the Extended Mags attachment.
The M60 deals the most damage per shot of all the light machine guns, although it suffers from a damage drop off to a long-range damage level on par with the others in its class.
At close range you'll kill in just two shots anywhere to the body - making this a deadly weapon of defence.
You pay for this high damage with a lethargic rate of fire - the slowest of any automatic weapon in the game, tied only with the Full-Auto CZ75.
535 rounds per minute does at least do much to conserve your ammunition under continuous fire, allowing sustained defense without the need to burst fire.
Despite the low fire rate, recoil is still substantial - you'll see substantial horizontal and upward spread when employed full-auto.
This can be mitigated by firing in bursts, but the HK21 would probably be the superior choice for long-range engagements.
As usual for an LMG, the time it takes to aim down the sights is slow, at 350 milliseconds.
Reload is almost comically slow, at almost 10 seconds - thankfully you don't need to do it often, but it's wise to find a safe spot to perform the procedure when needed.
The M60 is best used from cover against groups of enemies on the move, so anticipating spawn points and the enemy's likely movement from there is a skill essential for positioning yourself correctly.
Use of spy planes and blackbirds will give you an insight of there the enemy is spawing - take note of where new dots on the radar appear, then position yourself along your enemy's likely path.
When spawning, enemies will likely head directly towards the objective - in the case of team deathmatch this will be the location they suspect your team is in, and their route will tend to be via the centre of the map.
With a little map knowledge and anticipation of the spawns, you'll be able to work out the most likely route - and assuming you can get to a decent firing position in time, you'll be able to lie in wait.
The M60 is the weapon that best fulfills the traditional LMG role, with its capacity far, far ahead of any of its peers.
Its high close-range damage means that you aren't necessarily at a disadvantage when nearer your enemy either, as just two bullets to kill will cut them down mercilessly.
Unfortunately, the sluggish rate of fire means your shots need to be on target to be effective - and given the heavy recoil it can be difficult to ensure your shots connect.
The slow aim time and movement speed also limit the M60's utility - requiring a degree of forethought and planning to use effectively, unlike the more reactive SMGs or assault rifles.
Still, the M60 has unparalleled capacity and damage, and there's no weapon quite as devastating in a defensive role. When positioned correctly, the pig - might just save your bacon. - Hry
M60 Sounds like your shaking a bag of rice but it sounds somehow Badass
Lol.
Well, shaking a bag of rice from 300 yards away IS pretty badass.
the rice sound is used to lure nva into the open

If only fmj was an attachment in black ops then I would have the m60 and m14 with full metal jacket
How could u shoot women and children? "Easy just dont lead em too much"
I like how with the two scope attachments the clips he used was him hip firing

This weapon was the best for Nuketown since the whole map was usually in the 2 hit range.
+Rynosaur94 Alongside paper thin walls. You can probably get a good killstreak before reloading.
I was thinking about using warlord in order to have extended mag and grip to use it as the iconic Rambo's M60.
The M60 is my all-time favorite weapon. Its perfect for all ranges, high damage at short range and consistent at long range.

Thank goodness there is a belt fed lmg in the game
I was always peeved at how the other LMGs were really not, with their tiny ineffectual mags. The HK and the RPK were slower firing, heavier, less responsive assault rifles with no advantage whatsoever.
Actually the RPK and HK21 are LMGs, the M60 is a GPMG and the Stoner 63 is an assault rifle.
Professional Meme Enthusiast what’s the difference?
@@chrxs61632
LMG= used usually with a magazine in a squad support role, GMPG= belt fed, can be used either by infantry or in a vehicle-mounted role, Assault rifle= Select fire mag fed main infantry weapon
@@professionalmemeenthusiast2117 The RPK is an LSW variant of the AK. The HK21 in-game is actually an HK11, as the actual HK21 is belt-fed. The Stoner has a belt-fed variant.
i swear every one of this guys videos has at least one person saying he has a perfect voice.
I am from the future. His voice is still perfect
They're not wrong tho
famas users hate it when i use the m60
W
😂😂
Dank Dank Love using this powerhouse against FAMAS users, never gets old
Emanuel Martinez Nowadays Black Ops is full of invisible hackers
Dank Dank i actually don’t have that problem (yet) but I do with bo2
I heard that the M60 was called "The Pig" because it was always covered in the mud of the Vietnam jungles.
And it had an insatiable appetite for 7.62mm

but yeah i'm surprised you didn't know that, they eat 7.62 and shit out .45 ACP like its nothing
And it's as heavy as one
There was always that one guy with flak jacket using an M60 on that tower in Firing Range lol. I wish we had more call of duty games like modern warfare and early black ops, now they're a joke...
LMAO that was me biiiiiiiiiiiitch fuck your grenade catch lead son!
Personally I use Scavenger Pro but yes I camp there
This is probably the most humorous episode, with all of its deadpan humor and sarcasm.
I also loved how he just fired from the hip using an ACOG and IR scope.
actually the reason why its called the pig is because during the vietnam war this weapon would choke up and not fire so essentially when its carried by the soldier he named it the pig because of its weight and not dependable
I swear to god the first time I used this gun, I was on Ground War Havana, and I picked it up from a dead teammate. The M60 had Grip and extended magazine, i ran about 20 feet, and I got a x7 multikill, it was amazing! This is my favorite wepon by far.
Next time you play bo1. Go into private match put this gun on a class with slight of hand. Make sure vibration is on and put controller in pants. Your welcome.
stupidpeople stupidthings and savanger pro for longer streaks
stupidpeople stupidthings In Modern Warfare Remastered take the M60 with sleight of hand into the training mode. You get unlimited ammo there.
That’s really only useful for female players.
@@borttheattorney6012 everyone can use a vibrator, not just women
or put the extended maganize attachment lol
"The ACOG scope however, isn't helpful." *goes around hip firing the hell out of everyone*
I use this exact class! M60 with Extended mags (AKA Big Ammo), M72 LAW or RPG, with Flack Jacket Pro, Hardened Pro, and Tactical Mask Pro, and either Frag or Semtex, then Flash Grenade, Concussion Grenade, or Nova Gas with either Jammer, Motion sensor, or Claymore. That is the perfect sprayer class lol.
I miss playing this game so much. Back in the day I was on the Xbox 360,had a good list of friends online and we had so many laughs and fun together. Froggie, commander where are you's?I miss those days so much.
The mg3 should've been in CoD black ops, along with the bundeswehr vs. Spetsnaz in the Berlin wall map.
It's funny after watching these videos the majority of these guns did not take place in Black Ops time line the games is set in the late 60s to mid 70s and some of these guns came out in like early 80s and 90s.at least they had creativity unlike now what happened to that
The quotes he says before the video begins are soooo badass!

“It is however huge, especially empowered when sprinting. So if your a fan with oversized scopes on an uncontrollable weapon, the ACOG is superb, otherwise I’d give it a miss.”
@@kidsIIIII009 Apparent, not empowered.
I love this guys style!! Very informative and friendly military style
You just put so much in your video, and show exactly what I wanted to see. Great job again!
I love the m60 it's my favorite LMG' I like using either scavenger or lightweight pro for tier 1, slight of hand pro for tier 2, and marathon or hacker pro for tier 3. I like being able to move and reload fast to support my team.
Extended mags is a must on this gun. 200 rounds in a box eliminates the need to reload all together. 1 it is almost impossible to burn through 200 rounds with the m60 without dying and 2 you don't have any more bullets to reload unless you have scavenger pro lol.
The M60 audio is music to my ears.
My class with this beast was like this.....
Blue Perk=Flack Jacket.
Orange Perk=Hardened.
Green Perk=Tactical Mask.
Attachment=Extended Magazine.
Lethal EQUIPMENT=Frog Grande.
Tactical EQUIPMENT=Stun or Flash Bang.
Special EQUIPMENT=C4
SECONDARY= Python with Speed Reloader.
I call it the Big Daddy Penetrator class.
Most underrated gun in the game imo, used with grip and slight of hand pro for the ads speed is damn good. I also like how when using the extended mag, it’s labeled as “big ammo” lol
Very handsome profile pic : )
I love the Big Ammo attachment.
Am i the only one who cracked up from 3:30-4:00?
Neal Muir No, you're not, his review of the ACOG was fab 😂👌
Lmao
watching these vids in 2021 and their still entertaining and informative, good work Ahoy (2021 gang)
I love the way it flops around when it's hip-fired
Now this is a quality video by Stu, unlike the bare-boned, slapped together videos that Stu puts out about Call of duty Ghosts.
He seemed to put alot more effort into the treyarch's games. Leads me to believe he preferd their games and didn't feel like killing himself to get the footage for the ghost reviews.
True...
Volkodav what’s the point of making Ghost videos anyways? Must’ve been shitty
Roddy Dykes Ghosts was okay tbh
Anyone who runs, is a VC. Anyone who stands still, is a well disciplined VC!
I want to say hardened while good slight of hand saved my ass way more with that 10 second reload only being 5 seconds. Pair that with scavenger and you can post up for defense or offer very good supportive fire for your team.
These are the longest and smartest looking commentaries ever fro cod. I salute you sir.
This game is 7 years old and still fun
This gun is real OP in bo2 campain
wouter goede It should have been in the multiplayer and zombies too. That would be freaking awesome
Are you sure you aren't talking about the RPD?
As soon as I unlocked it I pretty much used it exclusively as my main weapon, with a Shotgun or a sniper as my backup. There's just something so satisfying about the chug of a M60.
god i love listening to your videos lol you got a sweet voice for commentary.
thanks for the class xboxahoy, it works wonders
pun should have been "the Pig might save ur hams" instead XDXD
Nah, the pig might allow you to go ham on them
Who is here in the 2022?
Underrated because this has the best iron sights of any m60 in any game I know of
I'm digging the subtle Full Metal Jacket reference at the very beginning
I would use SoH Pro, because it's ads take a year
yea i agree
100k people online in 2018! thanks for the content, still relevant 7 years later!
phriendlybear there is only like 15k people on lol it's just a bug just add up the total people in each playlist
Is it just me or is this guy a true beast on this game? I mean.. He runs the game with every single weapon from specials to pistols to light machine guns. Dude is badass. I have enough trouble learning to use three or four different weapons. He just owns with whatever he happens to have at the moment.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING MY FRIEND!
your play style is soo different from everyone else, but the way you play is so tactical and all thought through, you dont just rush like a headless chicken your a pro Xbox Ahoy!
'unending firepower' I like that a lot more than I probably should
I got two chopper gunners in one game with this gun no attachments! love it!
I prefer using the grip attachment while using Flak Jacket, Sleight of Hand and Tactical Mask to compensate the sluggish reload speeed
One thing i find GREAT with this gun is Warlord pro and NOVA GAS! You get two nova gas clouds, which lets you completely block off one of your flanks when needed. While a toxic cloud covers one entrance, your pig covers the other.
I remember maining the M60 with the Grip and ACOG, and had a China Lake back in the day. The M60 was my first gold gun in any CoD ever
Proper good job mate!
The ACOG is not necessarily bad if paired with the Grip, it is very open and, if bursted, you can get to targets that you wouldn't even be able to see with the close-range sights. I usually pop one on and use the class as a long-range support. With practice, this can be used as a spotter or sniper defence weapon.
as an experienced player i learned absolutely nothing from this video. but i still watched it to the end because your voice is awesome, no wonder activision hired you.
Using XboxAhoy and TmartTn's knowledge, I've gotten exponentially better at CoD :) Thanks, guys!
I can't count the number of times I've watched these weapon guides.
2:24 that transition was smooth as silk
I find this gun to be at its best when you use it for surpressive fire.. Pair it with a grip, find a good spot near the objective and wait for the enemy. When he sticks his head out, just hold down the trigger until the objective is secured!
Usually, I have Scavenger with the M60 in Jungle on Domination games. I always play the defender when my team has "Bravo". Plus, I like being able to have more than enough ammo for the M60. You never know when you might need it.
this guy can make any gun fun to use
I love ur videos man :D
M60 grip
usually RPG
Frag
Nova (throw it, run through it, it should deter assailants.)
Clay (for flank coverage)
Flak Jacket Pro (can't live without it, love how badass it looks when walking through flames :D)
Hardened Pro
Tactical Mask Pro (for the nova escape in general)
Your videos are awesome. Your class looks way to much like mine :P It was almost scary.
I use a slightly-altered version of this loadout, and it is 100% the most fun I've ever had in Black Ops!
My alteration is I use Concussion instead of Flashbangs, and I'll switch between Frag and Semtex depending.
"Rest quiet upon fields afar....for this is no ending, but the eye."
i love how you refer to reloading the m60 as a procedure xD its so true
I use steady aim and the acog scope because it looks so good when you are hipfiring
you are brilliant love your videos
The M60 was not particularly derived from the M1918 BAR or the M1919 Browning but it was designed to replace 'em in the SAW role & in the MMG role, respectively.
If anything it was derived from the MG42 and FG42
@@Modernww2fare Perhaps a bit of the M1941 Johnson as well.
Defensive stalwart right here. Putting off reloads for as long as possible and providing excellent damage everywhere. Such a terrible reload doesn't feel so bad when you use the weapon properly. Because of that I never use Extended Mags on the M60. No reload at all is nice, but the M60 just so happens to have a Grip that helps it a lot, so I can't help myself.
Your idea for perks on the M60 is exactly what I do. All three of the perks (particularly in their Pro versions) are perfect for a stubborn defense. Flak Jacket Pro is awesome. Less explosive damage is a big plus. You can also train yourself to be able to make great use of throw backs on frag grenades, a surprising amount of people don't bother to cook their frags. It also allows you to potentially recover from mistakes on your own frag throws, which is very nice, even if it makes you look a little foolish. Hardened Pro is just fantastic for any ranged weapon in this game, lovely perk. You can get some really cheeky kills with good guesswork and enemy tracking. Tac Mask Pro is beyond busted, the fact that it doesn't alert your enemies to the fact that you don't take much of anything from tacticals is a massive mind screw. You will see a ton of enemies recklessly throw themselves at you under the false assumption that they can safely advance.
This video brought a tear to my eye at the pun. SO much better than the MW3 videos. What song do you use for these, or is it a custom made score?
@firearmsfanboy On another note, I do believe that the m240 has a higher firing rate and is primarily heavier than the m60 due to parts that do not allow mechanical breakdown by the elements or by possibly dropping the gun. The e4 may have fixed problems but this is a black ops video which is during vietnam war- this kind of m60 is the kind I wold loathe to have. Maybe that'd clear up a couple things, idk.
My personal M60 loadout (not the best)
Primary: M60 Grip and Extended Mags (Your choice of camo I prefer Sahara)
Secondary: Strela (I don't use explosives as much)
Lethal: Semtex (I forget to throw the grenade often and I love seeing enemies run when they get stuck with a semtex)
Tactical: Nova gas (Throw this grenade at a choke point like the doors to the main building in summit and hitmarkers galore)
Equipment: Camera spike (I'm about as tunnel visioned as a Perma-scoped Razorback Gibus Pyro vision sniper and Claymores are only 1 use)
Tier 1 perk: Scavenger Pro (If you pick up the blue bags you won't ever run dry of bullets and grenades and the rampage will continue and also gives extra magazines for camping :D)
Tier 2 perk: Warlord Pro (Extra attachments and grenades so you can camp better)
Tier 3 perk: Tactical Mask Pro (Flashbangs, Concussion and Nova gas thrown at you and you keep leaving your spot? Not anymore!)
@firearmsfanboy the m60 e4 may seem to have corrected problems with previous versions but the US hasn't done anything to get rid of previous versions. Many of them can still be seen in service with issues that have been around for years.
Every one of these videos makes me want to go out and change my classes and use this gun regardless.
I have been using the M60 with a grip, using Ghost, Slight of Hand and Marathon as my perks. Ive never enjoyed the game so much!
Warlord pro also gives me extra nova and frag grenades, so when I am on maps such as Havana defending one of the main buildings, I can throw a barrage of grenades at any potential dislodgers travelling in pairs. Secondary is entirely personal choice but I go for the RPG as crowd control really IS my thing ;) Although a Pistol would REALLY be handy for times when you need to run across a map to get to your defending spot. Equipment could be either Motion Sensor or Jammer,
Fun thing to try, you and a buddy pick the m60 on TDM for the Nuketown map - prone in the back of the yard criss-crossing each other's line of fire. You each get about 10 kills before the other team decides to only stay in the middle and then they get slayed by the rest of your team - until they spawn right in the middle of the two m60's.
3:30 "So if you're a fan of over-sized scopes on uncontrollable weapons, the ACOG is superb."
LOL
“Otherwise I’d give it a miss”
Also with quick change barrels on the mk43 are lighter and probably faster to change, and dropping a "pig" wont really have any effect unless you drop it into a tub of mud or burry it in sand, with that being said the desert is very sandy like all the service guns around over in afganland you clean you gun daily so that being said any of the new updated m60s or mk43 (which are used by special forces) can hold thier own aginst the m240B i love both guns but my hear goes for the new m60s
the GET SOME! at the beginning....Full Metal Jacket reference?
Personally I always tend to use the M60 as it is absolutely unparallelled as a weapon of choice for any juggernaut class. I run Flak Jacket Pro, Warlord Pro and Tac Mask Pro, basically makes me invincible to grenades so when I am in the Firing Range Tower for eg I am basically un-dislodgable, it drives enemy players crazy. I run the Reflex sight and grip, just personal preference as I much prefer a nice dot, helps me picking off fools from long range on maps such as array and villa.
ive tried to forget the failure of mw2 but you have inspired me to pop it back in my xbox for a few minutes
If you use grip with this weapon it has the same accuracy and centerspeed as the HK21
6 bars of accuracy and 1700 centerspeed
Very nice
my favourite gun realeased on my birthday awesome
I love the irons on this gun but some people hate them for an odd reason. They are several situations where I hate iron sights that take up the screen. The Uzi is the best example of irons taking up the screen of the game.
I love it how when he shows the acog scopes he only hipfires
XboxAhoy has succeeded in giving solid reasons for me to have used the M60 so much. That said, only reason I actually did was because I sucked so hard at being able to kill anyone in a mere 30 shots -_-
Put the grip on this big daddy and you've got yourself one of the most versatile weapons in the game. It can do long range, short range, shoot down air support, provide covering fire, and distract the enemy team as well. You're a human sentry gun with this in your hands.
"The Pig...might just save your bacon." Love it!
thanks for suggesting, you're right
if youre a fan of oversized scopes on uncrontrollable weapons then its superb
Love ur vids
@PflGlace Flag, position, point whatever... If you are playing correctly and partol a flagpositionpoint, there is no need to run at all..
I have played dom alot. Favorite game mode.
I like to use it with the grip, Flak Jacket, Sleight of Hand, and Tactical Mask for room clearing and point defense, though I'd suggest a pistol rather than a launcher because of the limited ammo and accuracy of launchers.
The setup he describes makes me want to call COME AT ME whilst firing this monster :)
I love the sound of a Pig's chugging
its great that he said get some on the M60
"So, if you're a fan of over sized scopes and uncontrollable weapons, the ACOG is superb!" Lmao, ooohhh XboxAhoy you crack me up.
